Talk about NBA 2K10 here.
Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:16 am
Hey guys,
I want to announce that there is going to be another patch for NBA 2K10 on XBOX 360 and PS3 (The future PC patch will be a combination of the two). It will address several areas users have raised concerns about, including some of the online modes and My Player. There are no further details as to the specifics of the patch at this time but development on the patch is underway. With the built in times for development and approvals, we are not expecting this next game update until January. Further details will be announced as they become available. Thank you.
Ronnie (2K Sports) !

i dont think you realize how lucky we are to even have a 360/PS3 basketball game on the PC
I guess I just feel like all of our bitching about Live 07 and Live 08 drove EA to not release on the PC anymore so i dont want to do the same to 2k.
It sucks that I am going to wait for this patch to play My Player mode or start a real association, but until then I can just continue to dive into patching stuff that wont matter if the patch is released or not.

I disagree, EA stopped making an NBA Live for PC because of econmic interests. That had nothing to do with an flaming community in my opinion.

we didnt help....that's for sure

EA stopped making the PC version because more people pirated it than bought it. Plus they can barely make a decent 360/PS3 version, so what's the point in an old generation PS2 ported version? They put out a quick patch for 10 that broke more than it fixed.
How did 2K Sports screw PC users? They ARE making a patch. Programming is hard damn work. You can't just insert a line of code because you have to see if you break anything else. Look at the 2K PC programming community: It took months to crack the file formats and to program modding tools. It's not like EA Sports who didn't even release a patch for 08.

pc users are blessed to have 2K
they need to have some kind of online activation to prevent piracy
BUT
i just hope they implement ip to ip lan mode
1- they would free some bandwith for people who like to play ranked
2 - we could play our friends easily with no lag or server off problems
3 - we could play custom rosters hopefully
other than that the games is amazing
has a few glitches ... but so much improvement in gameplay...

It was immensely buggy when they put it out, right? Never mind that they are making a patch, the buyers dished out cash for a complete game, not for a beta. I'm not normally whiny when it comes to games being buggy, but when a developer releases a game that is blatantly, obviously buggy, they ARE ripping off paying customers. Would you buy a car with no wheels? Yes it does run, maybe it will even look good, but it still sucks.
This is why I loved the 90's video games scene, either developers release games with decent QA, or they put out a patch days after going gold because buggy games either got persecuted to their doom, or they get recalled. Thing is, games this buggy have to get patched right after they come out, not when theyre 2 months old and nobody's playing them anymore.

Ive been looking at a lot of youtube videos from people with 360's and ps3's and they have been showing no honest change after the patch they have recieved witch literally makes me ill. Their online has shabbily been thrown together sometimes but its often still not working, and all the issuses we have with the game, crashing, no paint defense, lack of fouls in the game and many others are still happening to them. They did fix the my player clone but...I kinda need more fixes that that. Some people complain that the patch has added a lot of new problems for them, Alot of people are moving over to live10. Sadly I cant cause I dont buy consoles so this is my only gateway to basketball unless I go back to 2k9 which honestly was a better

Not postponed, 'cause they never really said a release date for PC. For consoles they said: "In 2-3 weeks we'll have a patch" for PC was: "We are working on it." So we have now a release date, a crappy one for sure.

I agree. I strongly believe that most PC users here didnt buy 2k10 at all...

Dont you think it's a bit ill-advised to say that?

Well with the huge amount of bugs, unplayibility, crashes and all around poor game performance can you honestly blame anyone for not buying but pirating it first.

Most people who complain about the delay of the PC patch seem to forget that the PC version is way more cheaper than the PS3/360 versions, more than half cheaper I think. You get what you pay for, but at least 2K are working for the patch to be released, even if it's very late.

One of the things that is funny is that many of us aren't experiencing most of the issues that people are having. I think people should start posting the PC specs in the bug report thread, they might find something in common with their hardware.
I am exempt because I haven't dived into the game much. Just a few exhibition games and My Player mode. No sliders or mods. I also find that the less I mess with Windows(tweaking and services, driver updates, etc) the less problems I have with all my applications, including games. Some safe oveclocking, but that's about it.

Looking at all the forums and people having the issues...the patch and the things it fixes, which go hand in hand with all the complaints I say that you jao are one of the lucky ones out of the thousands having bought such a beta if even that game.

Whats up pdub, no if cant be most peoples hardware because 2k themselves have admitted to most if not all the problems and are rushing to make a patch to fix them. all in all just a poor decision to rush a game out to compete with another.
Mon Nov 30, 2009 12:24 pm
They can't rush a game out. The release date is mandated by the NBA, so that neither game company has an unfair sales advantage by releasing their game earlier than the other.
As for the hardware, many of the people who had an AMD dual core processor experienced a big problem in NBA 2K9, some even experienced the same problem in 2K10. So, there can be hardware issues. Of course the odd bugs are in the software itself. I tried to do a quick inbounds pass and the player was stuck running in place and I couldn't do anything but waste a timeout.

I'm wondering if we played the same games in/from the 90s.

Well I dont remember any playstation 1, n64, or sega dreamcast games being buggy to the extent they are now days where you actually have to have forums to express your problems in why the game doesnt even work! I understand what pdub is saying about peoples systems but these people that i see talking about the problems are people that own it on 360 or ps3, so you know if cant be about them. Ive worked in the gaming industry and I know how some of the things go, there will be no boycott from developers making bad games because people will still buy them, and thats the golden rule...A quote from a sony rep himself.
