Will B. Jennings averaged more than 15ppg for the season?

Sat Nov 21, 2009 4:48 am

If anyone remember draft night..I thought he was an ass for not showing up in person because no team guarantee him that he would be a lottery pick. And of course, I was like what the hell is the Buck's doing picking a guy who didn't want to go college and didn't do all that well over sea. Is he for real and will he average more than 15ppg for the season?

I'm so confused by this thread. But to answer your question (I think it's the question I'm answering), yes.

Could have posted this in the Brandon Jennings watch thread but yes, I think he'll average 15+ ppg.

Pretty much likely he's going to end up averaging more than 15+ since he's the first option at least till Redd comes back. Even when Redd comes back, I'm thinking he's likely to play a major role due to his performace so far has been impressive.

To the former, I would say it seems so. To the latter, I would say yes. He's averaging 24.8 ppg as of this post, so I'd suggest he's got a chance.

So what if he didn't go to college. It's not like a guarantee that going to college means success in the NBA.
He didn't do that well overseas because his role was mainly to be a defender and reduced to be a spot-up shooter on offense since there were more 'established' vets/players in the team he played in. He had to change roles on what he's used to from HS, much like AI being used as a bench player.
He's probably in his comfort zone now and has his natural playing style back now that he's in the NBA (and Skiles not benching him).

By the way he's going at the moment, 15ppg will be easily achievable for Jennings, without a doubt.

Jennings is probably going to average at least 20 ppg. He has the green light to score all he wants.

I don't see him dropping his scoring that low. He'll probably stay in range between 19-21 ppg with FG percentage 45+, since their offensive arsenal is pretty much limited to him, Bogut and Redd.

I'm not trying to be the debbie downer, but I don't think so. He's hot right now and that's great for the Bucks, but he is going to hit the rookie wall sooner or later.

The most games he's played in his career has got to be the 30-35 games top high school teams play and he only played in 16 last year. Michael Redd is going to come back soon too. There's no way Redd averages 14 and Jennings 24, that's going to be flipped by season's end.

why are you acting like 14 ppg versus 15 ppg points is that big a difference? its really not. Redd may become the primary option again but its not like they won't let jennings run. He's hot I agree, but 15 ppg really isnt that crazy a stat for him

His usage rate is 31.5%. This is seventh in the league. Warrick and healthy Redd are the only other players who will have above average usage rates. (And Warrick barely does.)

Let's say Jennings drops ten spots to about 26% or 17th. That's about 17 shots a game (15+(.44*4)) based on his distribution. Even if he was to implode down to 50% shooting that's still 16.8ppg. Since he's already banked 11 games, that would give him a season average of 17.9ppg.

To get to 15ppg (14.9996) he'd have to drop to 40% shooting.

Number of players in NBA History who have shot less than 45% while maintaining usage above 25% and playing 2000+ minutes? Zero.

haaha, I guess i kinda did undercut the question there. 15ppg is reasonable I guess since I stupidly said 14 lol. I just don't think he's going to be shooting .479 at the end of the year, I'd expect it to be around the .440 range. He's taking a loooot of shots right now too. I guess I just mental farted on the question, my bad.

I have a feeling Redd might be out a while longer, or end up coming off the bench or something. He was horrific today and didn't look like he should be on the court. I think Jennings shooting percentages will go up when Bogut comes back but until then he's going to be chucking quite alot, it will drop the number but might increase his scoring since there's no one else to give it to.
