Come on... why did they take out the most exciting aspect of the NBA season.

because it sucked in the 360/PS3 versions of Live and didnt follow the actual NBA rules for it

Has 3pt Shootout also been cut from the game ?

Sounds like some sort of gang...
...or comic book supervillain group.

I can understand their reasoning, though flawed as it may be I think it would've been better just to leave it in there and look at revamping and replacing it next year. Same goes for the three point shootout, which was fine as far as I'm concerned.

I agree it does seem/feel odd that they were removed but the reasons were there were too many bugs and it was outdated especially the dunk contest. The producers focused on core gameplay this year and to really get that right and save production time and resources they removed the 2 events. There are plans to bring it back better than before but it is uncertain if it will return for Live 11 yet it depends again on what the focus for this development year will be.

It is fine... Really, How many people actully bought the game for the Dunk Contest.

True, but it was good having it all the same.

It's gone because it doesn't compare to 2K9's version at all, other than actually being in dynasty mode.

It's exactly as dragon said in his post.
I understand some of you were disappointed that it was taken out of this year's game but with the amount of work the development team wanted to do with gameplay there was simply no time for them to dedicate resources towards the dunk contest and the three point shootout. Gameplay needed serious work and that's where the effort was placed and the end result was a great one. The team are definitely looking at ways to have a better dunk contest but with all the stuff that is being done in gameplay it would have to make sense with the development team to dedicate resources towards a dunk contest while ensuring that core gameplay sees the improvements that it needs.

I wouldn't be suprised if its back next year. Now that live has good gameplay although its not perfect they can focus more on game modes like the dunk contest and maybe even a superstar type mode... Next year i'm expecting live to be great although its a little early to start counting down till live 11 so till then i'm going to enjoy what we have in NBA Live 10.

I still feel it could have been left in as-is because it was fun enough, our criticisms aside. However, if they weren't happy with it then there is merit in taking it out, revamping it and putting it back in when they're more satisfied with it. A bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation there. They weren't going to please everyone either way. Hopefully the All-Star Weekend will be back sooner rather than later.
