NBA on Foxtel/Aussie TV 2013/2014

Don't mean to rub it in Andrew, but i will set the scene for you. 1997 NBA Finals, the series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Jazz are carrying a lot of momentum from their dominating finish in game 4, particularly John Stockton. But now, we're at the Delta Centre and Michael Jordan has flu-like symptoms...

Never seen a full MJ game before, Laxation? This is arguably one of his greatest.

Oh, the flu game? That's not so bad then, I've got that on DVD. But I wholeheartedly agree, great game to watch.

Great to see some of the old faces again. And the lesserlights too: Antoine Carr, Shandon Anderson, Jason Caffey, Howard Eisley, Jud Buechler, THE CHIEF sitting on the bench, Brian (Bison Dele) Williams, Adam Keefe, Greg Foster and Greg Ostertag was a monster in that game.

That was a really physical series, too. The NBA has gotten a lot softer since then.

I hope they make these classic games a regular event before the season starts up again. Or even during the season.

I wouldn't mind some ESPN Classic while we're at it. I believe it's perfectly healthy to get a nostalgia fix every once in a while.

Yep, I watched 2nd half of game. I wanted Jazz to win in either 1997 or 1998 as I was a big fan of Stock, Horny & Russell. Unfortunately when it came to the key moments in the key games in each series, Karl Malone didn't deliver. He was the Australia Post Mailman I guess. Good to see old game though, even though I got it on the Ultimate Jordan DVD Collection (which I still haven't watched yet )

I couldn't believe it... nearly every time down the court I was expecting a whistle to go to bail someone out, and it never came! It was amazing!

Worth it for the extras. I know I've said it before but if they released a 25th anniversary edition, I'd buy that one too.

Sweet thanks for the heads up about the pre-season games... Too bad they're not on ESPN HD, theyre gonna look horrible on normal ESPN (Because we have ESPN HD, normal ESPN is much lower quality than the other channels... Well last time i checked, which was over a year ago...)

Also there's another old match on One HD. It's Knicks v Spurs 1999 NBA finals. Its the championship game... Wednesday 10pm

Also on a side not got a letter from Foxtel about new packages and channels. Looks like we're gonna be paying more, but it seems we'll be getting 3 new packages of channels we didnt have, plus alot more HD channels... :p

Suppose I'll be getting that letter soon enough. I was wondering when there'd be a price increase, I think we've gone at least a year without one.

Bulls v Jazz was a surprisingly good game. Game winner with 0.1 for anyone that missed it...
Pumped to watch Nuggets, which ill tape tonight and watch tomorrow. And the ESPN picture isnt as bad as it used to be. Easily watchable

That was an incredible finish...a lot of luck on that one, but a great finish all the same. More drama than a pre-season game has any right to have.

Hmm. I watched like one quarter of that Knicks-Spurs Game 5 back in 99, but I never got to see Latrell Sprewell heating up and going toe-to-toe with Duncan.

Just curious: how many NBA games do they show on Foxtel per week? From what happened last season, One showed two games a week, I think, usually a Sunday afternoon or night ESPN broadcast and one half of the TNT Thursday night doubleheader.

ESPN Australia usually shows two games per week. During the 06/07 and 07/08 seasons we had up to four games a week because Fox Sports had NBA coverage as well.

I loved watching Melo light up the Pacers for 45 in 23 minutes :p Had about 14 And1's on Dahntay Jones which was awesome cause Dahntay was trying to prove a point against his old team. He got abused

Was great to see wasn't it? even though it was just a preseason game, there's a lot to look forward to with Melo this year hopefully ESPN/ONE HD recognise this now lol.
