Has anyone else heard Delonte West (the cavs starting SG) has been arrested! I can't believe it. He is probally done for the year and could go to prison for anywhere from 6 months to 3 years. But then he could just be put on probation. Eithier way he will be suspended. Delonte was one of my favorite cavs players too so when I heard this I couldn't believe it. Now I think it would be best to get rid of him. Oh and I forgot to say he was aressted for carring two hand guns and a shotgun. I guess he was going to commit a robbery. My guess is it had something to do with his mental disorder because nothing about drinking was mentioned. Apparently he was very cooperative with the police and imediatly adimiteed he was armed. But for now it looks like Anthony Parker will be the cavs starting SG.

LMAO. cut off the police officer with 3 loaded weapons in his possesion. thats even dumber than monta ellis. and isnt he not allowed to ride motorcycles according to NBA contract? or do teams only have that in the contract of their superstar players?

Possibly, though I think clauses like that are at the discretion of the team. It's probably a common clause, a couple of years ago Radmanovic got into a bit of trouble while with the Lakers when he injured himself snowboarding and violating a clause in his contract in the process.
West's arrest is certainly disturbing as you have to wonder why he was so heavily armed and what his intentions might have been. Pretty stupid thing to do but it sounds like he's got a few issues that need to be sorted out before he causes harm to himself and others so hopefully he'll get the hope he needs. I can't imagine the Cavs are too thrilled right now, good thing they picked up Parker and Moon earlier this offseason.

What the hell? Never expected that one

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was arrested Thursday after officers pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle while carrying two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun in a guitar case.
That isn't suspicious at all Delonte.

Cavs were lucky to get Parker
However, Daniel Gibson and Danny Green is gonna have to stand up for the bench if the Cavs want to make it to the Finals
Does anyone think Delonte West's career is soon going to over?

He has bouts with depression so that might be a factor in this.

An NBA star and former area high school player was pulled over and arrested in Prince George's County on Thursday night after a police officer found he was carrying three loaded guns, authorities said.
Delonte West, a guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle north on Interstate 95 near Route 214 in the Largo area when he cut off a Prince George's County police officer, authorities said. The officer pulled him over, and West told the officer that he was carrying a handgun in his waistband.
That prompted the officer to call for backup, and investigators found that West was actually carrying three guns: a Beretta 9mm in his waistband, a Ruger .357 strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a guitar case slung over his back, said Maj. Andy Ellis, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department.

Delonte going all desperado, huh? xD Delonte Westperado!!
Anyway. I really don't know what his intentions were behind this. I really do hope those guns are registered

And I'm kinda glad, they stopped him, I mean, with three loaded guns in his possessions, who knows what his plans were. To kill somebody?

I don't know, maybe to protect himself being a millionaire? Enjoy his natural rights protected by the Constitution? Partake in some late night sport shooting? Fire into the sky and see if he can catch the bullets in his teeth? (Not putting this past Delonte.)
I know plenty of people who carried concealed armed weapons at all times. Guess what their plans are? Nothing. They're like Batman, just being prepared. I lived with a roommate who had an armed pistol in his safe. My concern? That it was in the safe and thus useless if ever needed quickly. Oh, and that despite regularly firing it he was a far worse shot than me who's only ever fired about three guns. (This also carried over into FPSes.)
Delonte's problem was having them in a state that doesn't allow this, and being an idiot driver. If these are registered in Ohio or elsewhere, and he has a concealed carry permit, he'll get a fine at most. If Delonte hadn't have been driving stupidly and drawn attention, he could've covered almost every inch of Maryland and not gotten in trouble for the firearms.

Was Delonte the player who had a lot of security with him during the playoffs because of death threats? Or am i think of a different player?
Mon Sep 21, 2009 12:13 pm
that was Tony Allen of the Celtics
Tue Sep 22, 2009 11:02 pm
i think his loss won't hurt the Cavs much this season.

The Anthony Parker signing helps, but I'm sure they were counting on having West as well; he was their starting shooting guard last year after all. In any case, they haven't lost him yet.

I don't really get all the talks about getting rid of West. I don't care what's wrong with his character or mental disorder he has. He was Cavs 2nd best player in the playoffs, besides that would make the signing of Parker useless (well, maybe not useless, but it was supposed to turn out quite differently). He's one of my favourite players, so that's another reason. And who cares about a gun or three he carries? I don't.

Good thing you're not a law enforcement officer.

You definitely don't just cut him loose. If he has emotional or psychological issues, then get him the help he needs so that he can get his head on straight and welcome him back when he's ready to return. There's still a question of jail time, but that's yet to be determined and the Cavs can cross that bridge if and when they come to it.
Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:20 pm
There's no reason not to let him play, the worst thing he did was driving recklessly and not being aware of Maryland carry laws. I will put money down that at least half the league did similar bullshit this off-season.
It's been clear West needs help psychologically for some time, just look at the videos from his Celtic days, the Cavs should put up to cover helping him with it, but otherwise forget it. He delivers on the court.
If he gets jail time (which I highly doubt as even "regular joes" would usually be unlikely to, this is fine, maybe night in jail crap) "suspend" him while he serves it and then ignore it when he comes back a month later.

Orlando players should watch out , Delonte may spy on them.

I wanted to be a year ago, but it didn't work out. But I still wouldn't care, especially if I lived in the US.
