McGrady Again..

Thu Sep 17, 2009 2:52 am

I've been reading the thread "Will McGrady Be Traded", Watching and remembering the trade before he got to Houston from Orlando just an hour ago, you see, I've been curious. What if there came a situation in which McGrady was to be traded, and in so many teams that could be offered a trade, will Orlando take him if he was offered to them? I think I have a misunderstanding, but I think the best way is to ask you guys..Why ask a question that if he is offered a trade to Orlando will they take him? Well here is the part that I don't understand, I heard that Orlando will never get T-Mac back in Orlando because there was a feud between him and the team organization that resulted in his last season in Orlando to win only 21 games. So, will Orlando take him if only he was traded..(if situation)

Orlando wants to win a title, so no.

Plus I doubt Houston wants Rashard Lewis' contract.

I don't see how they would, when they'd still have to agree to the trade in the first place. If they don't want him on the team, he can't be forced upon them.

Unfortuantely, at this point in thier career, R. Lewis is still more for the bang than McGrady is. You know what...the Knicks. I can see them trading E. Curry with either L. Hughes or A. Harrington for TMac...All have expiring contracts and the Rockets need a big guy with Yao out.

I think the Rockets would rather take their chances with David Andersen and benefit from T-Mac's expiring contract themselves than take on Eddy Curry. There have also been more encouraging reports about Yao in recent weeks so they might not be without him for the entire season or at the very least, talk that his career is over could be premature.

What about if they would include Lee with Curry? Would the Rockets and would the Knicks pull the trigger?

Why would the Rockets ever want Eddy Curry?

The Knicks might be willing to do that, but I'm still not sure about the Rockets. At the end of the day, they're still taking on Eddy Curry and his contract for two more seasons unless he opts out after this year...which he probably won't.

Helluva laugh if McGrady is traded back to Orlando... not gonna happen though.

The Rockets can't really do much in terms of a trade for McGrady, as his value is at an all-time low. Best case scenario would be to see how his performance is by the trade deadline and then decide on something.

His contract is $20+ mil coming off the books in time for a free agent class littered with marquee names though, so his trade value is probably a little higher than normal. Anyone looking to dump salaries would probably be interested in him with anything he can bring to the table being a bonus, but I doubt the Rockets would be too eager to take on bad contracts in return.

True about his massive contract and salary dump options, but I was thinking more about talent-value and what the Rockets could get in return in that regard, players that can help the team. While McGrady just might be able to play with more incentive as it is his contract year and Yao's out for the season and Artest is gone (touches for T-Mac everywhere), he's certainly not in the Rockets future plans.

As for the much hyped 2010 free agency, definitely not putting hopes up as a Rockets fan for them to sign Lebron or Wade, but at least Bosh and Joe Johnson are attainable.

True, any boost his expiring contract would give to his trade value isn't going to anywhere near enough to allow the Rockets to get a superstar in return.

hmmm...the Rockets could provide the Knicks with some additional 2010 cap space by taking on Eddy Curry.

Daryl Morey, according to a source, would be interested in discussing a Tracy McGrady for Curry ($10.5M) and Cuttino Mobely ($9M, 80 percent) swap.

Why would the Rockets want Eddy Curry at all? I mean they dont need him, not to even mention the fact that he sucks.

May 12th and June 30th...as far as rumours go, that isn't very recent so I'd suggest nothing's in the works at the moment.
