What the hell, the Rocket didn't even make Wafer a decent offer after the session he had last year....Rockets are stupid..they pay over 20mil for Mcgrady and can't offer a few mil for a guy that scored better by the min. than McGrady...withyou Yao and withou Wafer..the rockets are going to suck this year...man..who is the olympiakos..they're going to have a hell of a team with all these nba players going there..how do they have the money to offer this players anyway?
Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:39 am
Let me say this. No salary cap in Europe attracts sponsors. And yeah, Olympiakos is gonna have a crazy team next year with Kleiza, Vafer and Childress. Rumor is they offered Iverson $40m to sign with them.

McGrady was signed way before Daryl Morey's time and he used to be worth every cent of it, it's just unfortunate what injuries have done. Von Wafer plays no defense and from many accounts was dumb as a brick and could not get the offensive sets down. He was also a bit of a knucklehead evidenced by his blowup with Rick Adelman during the playoffs. There's a reason he was with 5 teams in 4 years.

I wonder what that "Waferstick" fellow will have to say about this...

I don't think anyone explained what is Olympiakos. Olympiakos is a basketball club in Athens, Greece if I'm correct. One of the Euroleague giants.
Fri Aug 14, 2009 1:25 am
Olympiacos is a european giant as showtime said!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's established here in Greece in Peraus, the port of Athens.
Is considered as one of the biggest basketball teams in europe, along with panathinaikos, real madrid ,barcelona and CSKA moscow.
Olympiacos is owned by Angelopoulos brothers.
And the absence of salary cap is a reason that olympiacos can attract that sort of players.
And yeah,we will have a strong team!!!!
Papaloukas,Von Wafer,Kleiza,Childress,Bourousis,Baby Shaq aka Schortsianitis,Teodosic etc are making a pretty strong squad who can fullify the expectations of the team.Euroleague, championship,Cup

I've heard a lot about this "Baby Shaq". Wonder if he's any good.
Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:18 am
Well, he's at least as big as Shaq. I've seen him couple of times, I'll just say that he's not bad, I like him as a player.

Nothing. I encouraged him to start a "sign Von Wafer" campaign of some sort just for fun so he went on and changed his name. We both agreed that if Von Wafer doesn't resign with Houston, he'll simply change his name to something else.

He's not as tall as Shaq (6'10 if I'm correct), his weight is what causes that comparision. I guess it was over 350 lbs.

That's what I meant, he actually weighs more, despite the height different.

Can we watch this team from the USA? They must be decent if they can afford to pay these type of salary for NBA players.

ESPN has some Euroleague coverage. Or at least ESPN Australia does, at any rate.

Olympiakos will play 2 friendly matches with spurs at 9 of october and with cavs at 12 of the same month. Baby Shaq and Shaq will play against each other! those are 2 nice chances to see what Olympiakos can do in the NBA!!
