So the worst player in the nba is not white? Awesome.
Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:04 pm
Well most of the Chinese guys to come over into the NBA would have a good shot at the claim to worst, but they don't even qualify in terms of games/minutes played.

I forgot to mention Jason Collins.

hova- wrote:I guess its the expectations that everybody put into him. Being the first highschooler drafted on number one. Still this is just the risk of the team. I mean, no one asked him to be the number one pick. That he could not keep up with the expectations you have of a top pick is not his fault. So worst player is definitely wrong. This guy has his ups and downs in his game and a decent body. Alright for a backup.
Biggest bust, maybe - but shitty drafting doesn't make him a bad player.

I would say DJ Mbenga

or Jacque Vaughn(watever his name is)
Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:04 pm
Vaughn's not a bad candidate, though Mbenga doesn't satisfy all the conditions that Jae specified.

I'd say Mark Madsen if it wasn't for such tough criteria. For Kwame i believe the proper term is "Most dissappointing player". Altho he's a fellow Slovenian i'd say Sasha Vujacic sucked pretty hard last year.
Thu Aug 13, 2009 7:22 am
Sasha couldn't make a basket to save his life. It was shocking to see him suck that hard, he's not the best ever, but brick after brick...
Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:21 pm
Adonal Foyle without a doubt in my mind.
Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:16 pm
Foyle is a great defensive player. If you see the first video it says "6 of 19 rebounds of Golden State"
I go with Mark Madsen as the Queen and Kevin Ollie as first princess
Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:40 pm
Foyle's been a decent backup through most of his career. There'll always be a place for players like him in the league, he's not called on to do much beyond rebound, block a few shots and score some garbage baskets while doing the dirty work inside while playing about half the game, tops. He also played less than 20 games last season so he doesn't qualify anyway.
Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:33 pm
And he's not a bad person outside the court either, judging by his foundation:

Al Thornton is my pick. He might not be as terrible as Stevenson or Collins, but he played 33 minutes a game, thus hurting his team the most.
Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:44 pm
Neither Foyle nor Ollie are the worst players. Those are supposed to be offcourt leaders because they bring some veteranship. They dont qualify anyway since their minutes are very low.
Al Thornton is a good example of a guy using too many possessions doing wrong things on the court, which means he kind of steals the ball from better players who could do right things.
(I am sounding so benji-esque with this)

Matt Bonner crosses Mark madsen. Battle of basketball warriors?
Fri Aug 14, 2009 5:44 am
^ hahaah. that was the weakest most funniest crossover i have ever seen.
Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:36 am
That was awesome. I'm sure Bonner enjoyed that immensely.
Sat Aug 15, 2009 2:20 pm
This video has taught me something....NEVER FUCK WITH MATT BONNER
Sat Aug 15, 2009 2:23 pm
Beautiful, better when drunk
Sun Aug 16, 2009 8:50 pm
my picks (randomly)
Josh Powell
Jarron Collins
Steve Francis
Fred Jones
oh yeah, i don't really think there IS a real worst player because if there really IS then that guy would have been released today (Ndudi Ebi?). every active nba player is good in their own aspect. that's my stand... but since this is a thread that talks about players who suck... well...

There's still going to be a player who could be ranked below all others though. Statistically speaking, there's going to be someone whose performance can be ranked the worst and even if we were to disregard stats (which we can't, but that's another topic altogether) and just try our eye as it were, I'm sure we could name a player whose skill level appears to be lower than everyone else. Players who truly aren't going to succeed in the league do end up getting released, but amongst those who remain there will be one who could be perceived as being the worst in the league.

I remember bringing Yi Jianlian up last year, as I felt he was getting touches and minutes because of his nationality. I don't know if he's the worst player in the league, but his field goal percentage, and defensive presence for a big man I thought were awful. The guy's too skinny for PF and too slow for SF. Just thought he might be worth a mention here.
Mon Aug 17, 2009 5:56 pm
I have something I'm working on, but Yi might be number one of the "ten team killers" from last season.
Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:02 pm
Great. I can't wait.
Wasn't there something like Benji's blog? Didn't Andrew have something like that too? I remember those being great reads.
