I got the alpha channels already but I'm still having a hard time figuring out the hex editing

The ABA was the "outlaw" league with the psychedelic red, white and blue basketball, outlandish promotions, and huge afros. It was the "lively" league that adopted the three-point shot -- the exciting "home run" of basketball -- as its own. It was the "frontier" league that brought (or returned) modern professional basketball to hoops-crazy cities like Indianapolis, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Charlotte/Greensboro, Louisville, Norfolk, and Denver.

Remember Dr.J's 'Fro? Rick Barry's scoop free throws? How about Artis Gilmore's Brute-like 7'2" frame? Moses Malone's towering rebounds? Dan Issel's hard-nosed plays? George Gervin's cool-as-ice finger-rolls? Have you seen David Thompson's sky-gliding aerials? How about Larry Brown's psychedelic sweater? all of this were on display when the ABA used to co-exist with the NBA. Too bad the defunct league wasn't able to sustain the hype as the more organized NBA dissolved the ABA and absorbing only four Teams.



To pay tribute to the ABA I'm recreating some of the coolest jerseys the league displayed during it's short existence and add it in NBA Live 08. I'll be posting some previews.

The Spirit of St. Louis Road Jersey.
Added to the Hawks jerseys since the Team started in St. Louis before moving to Atlanta.
Don Chaney (12) came from the Boston Celtics to the ABA but only played 48 games.


The Dallas Chaparrals Home Jersey.
Added to the Mavs jerseys coz both Teams are from the same State.


The Carolina Cougars Road Jersey.
Added to the Bobcats jerseys.
Pogo Joe Caldwell used to don this uniform while he glides to the hoop.


The Indiana Pacers Home Jersey.
Added to the Pacers jerseys.
Billy Knight the most prolific rookie scorer in ABA history wore this classic unis.


The Denver Nuggets Road Jersey.
Added to the Nuggets jerseys.
Bobby Jones defended well in the ABA before getting the nickname Minister of Defense in the NBA.

The Dallas Chaparrals Home Jersey.
Added to the Mavs jerseys coz both Teams are from the same State.

What do I want to say?

Chapparals is newly Spurs.

I think the Chaparrals should go under the Spurs' jerseys if they are an old team name of the San Antonio Spurs before the city move. The Spurs already have a "DALLAS" jersey anyway, so it won't be confusing.

Like The New Orleans Hornets with their Charlotte Hornets jerseys, Lakers having MPLS, Clippers and San Diego. It would make more sense if the old jerseys belong to the team they are currently turned into; except, of course, if that team had dissolved before entering the NBA, then you can give it to the city/state as sort of a special bonus.


But, regarding how the jerseys look...they are beyond fantastic, jokyu! I think the Cougars wordmark needs a thin white stroke on it, but other than that they are great! Makes guys like me know and appreciate the old ABA, since I don't know much about it.

Thanks for all your comments Please be informed that this is only a quarter of the the ABA jerseys that I drafted so far. I already made 20 jerseys for different Teams one of which is for the Chaparrals (Mavs) and another for the Spurs. About the Dallas Chaparalls, I decided to merge it with the Mavs jerseys because I also drafted the red San Antonio Road jersey. I'll be posting some new previews soon, so stay tuned

hey jokyu, i got a request, can you remake the toronto huskies jersey even though they had 1 season in the ABA

dumbo, I would love to grant your request however the Toronto Huskies were a Team from the BBA (Basketball Association of America) stablished in 1946. I'll probably re-create their Jersey once I'm done with my ABA Project

lol woops, i thought they were in the ABA, but if your going to make it, make sure to watch Clippers Vs Raptors (March 31) cause it will be throwback night and raptors will be wearing Toronto Huskies jerseys and Clippers will be wearing Buffalo Braves jerseys. I think this game will show you a better view at the jersey.
