Yeah, that was a weird choice. They're legit stars of course and there's cross-promotion with their current tour, but it was an odd fit.

Not talking pro wrestling, I'd rather take a shot to the head from those wrestling chairs than a kick to the temple from somebody with the strenght of Orton. I'm pretty sure he could kill a human this way if he'd want to.
Anyways, excited 'bout Shaq next Monday, this week's episode was pretty darn boring.
Fri Jul 24, 2009 2:34 am
The punt blows. It's either Orton doesn't know how to sell it or his "victims" doesn't know it either.

Doesn't look like Jeff Hardy will be re-signing when his contract expires. He kind of lost some steam when they cut his title reign short but I was hoping he'd stick around. Hopefully they get something ironed out but it doesn't sound all that likely according to the various news sites.
Sat Jul 25, 2009 10:13 am
I don't want to sound like a dick, but thank god. While he's been improving in the ring, I can't stand him on the mic nor can I stand his character.
Glad he's gone, although they're probably sitting in their own tears backstage. Huge loss for the WWE business wise.
Sat Jul 25, 2009 10:13 am
Yes, Jeff is one of the few talents that perform the same way as they do during the 90's.
Sat Jul 25, 2009 11:58 am
Chances are he'll be back down the road when he's taken some time off (and probably if the WWE improve their offer). For Jeff's shortcomings, the timing is bad because they're without a couple of main eventers at the moment and released a couple of upper midcard guys that can be thrown into a championship match here and there so they don't have to keep going with the same main event month after month.

Night of Champions is in the books.
Well, how about that? Jeff Hardy is the new champ, so unless WWE is taking a huge risk I guess they've re-signed him or they've reached an agreement in principle and they have trust in him. Either way, they've given him the championship rub which isn't a horrible thing in my view, though it could mean another short reign and I wouldn't care to see that. Seems Punk is a fully fledged heel and I think it'll work out for him. I know he's been a heel before in other promotions but the Straight Edge heel is something different in the WWE at the moment and the arrogance in his promos reminds me of Chris Jericho, which I mean in a very good way.
Speaking of Jericho, the pairing with Big Show is kind of random, a "we don't have anything for him either so we'll throw him in a main event tag team" sort of affair but Show is a pretty good worker for his size and Jericho's a great worker so I think the team has potential. A good big man-little/average man combo a bit like Yokozuna and Owen Hart in the mid 90s, plus they're two legit main eventers and multi-time champions. Works for me.

didnt they just do something similar for Dreamer so he would stay on? or was that all a story line like Trump
Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:45 pm
That was part storyline, part shoot. Ultimately, Dreamer decided to stay so they had him win the ECW title.

I think Im safe to now use spoilers anymore
Actually found myself somewhat entertained last night. Although the whole have 1 or 2 wrestlers being completely star struck by the guest host is already old and annoying.
I really liked the HHH and the Jericho/Show vs Cryme Tyme matches, didn't catch the matches in between those though. Hell, I even liked the Mark Henry and MVP matches (with the return of that Masters guy)
This was posted over at OS about what they should do with Hardy if he is still leaving, absolute genius IMO.
Punk should demand that Jeff take a drug test which Jeff fails causing his third and final strike, and the World Title returned to Punk. When Jeff is done taking time off, we find out that Punk slipped him something or doctored the test.
Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:14 pm
That would be pretty creative. I'm not sure they'd fake a Wellness violation for the sake of a storyline but you never know.
Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:27 pm
About Masters, if he doesn't get his heat back from when HHH and Michaels dumped him in the toilet and treated him like a turd, I can't take anything he does serious.
And while I am complaining about Hunter,
can we please get a rest from him facing/beating 2 people at the same time too?
If I was working for the wwe, I would try to somehow spread the rumor that the winner of a match is decided by how much the crowd cheers for someone. Or have all the shows outside of the US to get a crowd to pop.
Please get rid of Cole. No matter how much effort is put into making a show entertaining, he will suck the life out of anything.
Also, a lot of how much someone can enjoy something, has to do with their expectations.
The quality of raw shows went down for me the moment when all wrestlers suddenly stopped saying, me and you or you and me and went with you and I instead. Homogenisation and personality do not go hand in hand. One of the most entertaining moments in wrestling for me was Sid Justice telling Nash that he had half the brain of him and being sincere about it.
I miss Sid.

Any idea why WWE doesnt update the ECW roster on their site? No Yoshi, Abraham, Sheamus(?) and the guy with dreads.
Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:32 am
Might have something to do with their status in the wee.

Oversight, probably.

The Shaq RAW episode for me was a good one.
My rating: 3.5 stars
Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:46 am
ESPN panned his appearance. As I said in the thread over in NBA Talk, a bit rich coming from a network that features hot dog eating contests, Scrabble championships, spelling bees and tractor pulling.
Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:49 pm
They did have a point wih the scrabble skit though. But yeah, I hate ESPN with their useless events like you mentioned when they could cover some real sports. How the fuck is eating a sport?
Fri Jul 31, 2009 9:03 pm
Bobby Lashley has improved a lot.
I hate Cody Deener. Having character and acting like a character are 2 different things.
No more Brian Kendrick. I liked him in that tag team with London a lot. Vince doesn't know talent unless he fucks it in the ass.
Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:53 pm
Wasn't really a fan of Kendrick, he was good in the ring (and has a pretty awesome finisher) but his gimmick sucked and I think overall he was too small and scrawny to be convincing. That being said he was a decent heel, given a better gimmick or something he would've gone alright. Another carcass for the TNA vultures to pick up.

Lol, guess when you're jobbing to a 59 year old commentator, you're pretty much doomed.
Funny how he gets released and Ezekiel Jackson, the big generic bodyguard, stays on the roster and even gets a little push on ECW.
Vince really loves them big guys.
A Kendrick - Kingston feud over the US Title could have led to some sick matches.
Sat Aug 01, 2009 2:15 am
Exactly. Talented people give you good matches. What don't you get about this, vince?
Sat Aug 01, 2009 4:02 pm
It's not like Ezekiel Jackson is getting a huge push though. Vince's love of freakishly big workers has led to talented working slipping through the WWE's fingers but I'm with Jae on this one. I'd push the likes of Matt Hardy, MVP, R-Truth, Shelton Benjamin to legit main event status before someone like Kendrick. Kendrick is fantastic in the cruiserweight division and could've sniffed the upper midcard but I didn't really see him as a main eventer myself. It would've been a longer build to that status, at any rate.

I wonder when will it happen. Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy really need a push. If I am not mistaken, the biggest push ever for Shelton was when he had a feud with Triple H.
No more Matt-Jeff feud for me. I don't buy it.
Regarding Kendrick, I think the WWE should give him a feud with Chavo. That guy doesnt have any serious matches lately. 0-3(or 4, not quite sure) against Hornswoggle. C'mon?!
