SourceThe Los Angeles Lakers have retracted an offer to Lamar Odom, saying that talks to re-sign the free agent have stalled.
Lakers public relations director John Black said the team had taken the offer off the table in the past two days.
“There are specifics behind why we pulled it, but that’s not something we’re going to get into,” Black said.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers owner Jerry Buss had offered Odom two deals. One was worth $36 million for four years and the other was for $10 million a season for three years.
It might not mean anything in the long run, a quote by John Black posted over on RealGM's report indicated that talks could resume so it's not necessarily the end of Odom's tenure with the Lakers. However, it doesn't look like they're on the same page at the moment and with the acquisition of Artest, they probably feel they can take the risk of Odom leaving.

Odom is my favorite laker. Is the offer they made him lower than what he is making now or something?
Thu Jul 16, 2009 1:39 pm
It's less than what he made last year, yeah. He's probably asking for something in between the $10 million offer and the $14 million he made last year at the very least.
Thu Jul 16, 2009 1:42 pm
I think they should give it to him. Every game where Odom was on, was like a dominant game for the lakers.

The lakers need odom with or without Artest. Who's gonna lead the second team off the bench if LO isn't there?
Thu Jul 16, 2009 5:04 pm
I seriously don't get how people can scoff at 9 million a season...I realise he was getting 14 million last season but seriously....you're on the team that are the champions.....if I was him I'd just want to keep winning.
People say that its a business but yeah, who's not gonna be able to live on 9 million in a year? I guess I don't get it because my whole family has to live off like less than 1% of that.....its seriously crazy the amount of money they get, lol.

God damn you Andrews, God damn the lot of you.

Artest won't be useful in building a wall against talls like Garnett, Wallace, and Shaq, LeBron. Bynum is never a guarantee to be there, so guys like Odom were required pieces upfront to work with Gasol. There would need to be another PF acquired or the Lakers have taken a step backwards despite gaining Artest

DJ Mbenga can play PF.
Thu Jul 16, 2009 8:25 pm
But DJ cant replace the skills that odom gives to the lakers when he comes on the floor...
Screw you Lakers management for not offering a good contract for ODOM
i hope he will join the Heat to give Wade a good companion

The Miami Heat are targeting both Carlos Boozer and Lamar Odom.
The Heat are trying to sell Odom on a five-year, $34 million contract at the mid-level exception, and a league executive with knowledge of the talks says Miami has also hatched a three-way proposal with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies to secure Boozer.
Miami could pay Boozer his $12.7 million salary this season and own his Bird rights to sign him to an extension next summer.
The deal for Boozer is not imminent, but Utah will be motivated to trade him assuming they match Portland's offer for Paul Millsap, as expected.
Oh My. Heat would be stacked

Luke Walton.

Seriously, imagine the Heat with Wade, Odom, Boozer. Plus they have some good role-players to compliment the stars. That is seriously good NBA Live/2k roster. The East is looking unreal, already with Boston and Cleveland looking like 65 win teams, and Orlando.

the Heat would be amazing next season if they got boozer and odom.

Beasley is working hard to have a break-out season, getting Odom and Boozer would complicate that. They should go after a PG.
C - JO/Magloire/Blount/Anthony (A little bit crowded)
PF - Boozer/Haslem/Beasley/Odom.(A little bit crowded)
SF - Moon/Jones
SG - Wade/Cook
PG - Chalmers/Quinn
I'd say get Odom and a PG.

Valor, don't mind him, he's
trying to get to 50 posts.

I have doubts that he'll last much longer than that.

At least I give reasons for my arguments rather than simply mocking other posters, you have to admire that
