Would you like to see the Clippers own the Lakers?

Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:21 pm

A source close to Allen Iverson said that ongoing negotiations between the free-agent guard and the Clippers are "very serious."

Iverson is thought to be seeking to sign a deal at the mid-level exception.

Iverson is one of my favorite players, I hope it happens and he carries the Clippers with his 30ppg the way he did Philly. Or play the way he did in Denver:
07-08
26.4 ppg
.458 fg% (highest since 97-98)
2.99 turnovers per game (lowest ever)
.345 trey% (2nd highest of career)
82 games

Of course even if the Clippers were somehow a 60win team it would still be difficult to own LA unless Odom leaves and/or Lakers get injuries, but still I just like to see a superstar play for the Clippers for a change and for them to become elite (even though I'm not a Clippers fan) (Y)

If Odom leaves and Iverson signs , maybe this is actually possible . . .
and Yes , I would love to see the Clips own the Lakeshow (Y)

- For the Clips just move to San Diego , even if the Lakers will suck and the Clippers won't the L.A. Community will still (Y) for the Lakers !

If Iverson can repeat his perfomance when he was with Sixers, Lakers will likely get owned

I think shortly after Shaq left LA there was a season whereby the Clippers and Lakers had almost the same win/loss record. The Gasol trade put an end to the rivalry. The Iverson signing might counter that. Although the Artest signing put LA comfortably ahead. Although what if the Clippers reclaim Odom? Iverson and the unselfish Odom are an ideal duo, MJ/Pippen style. Got to love the human brain (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) :applaud:

No matter what the Clippers do, they will never be as good as the other Los Angeles team.
Iverson is not going to change a thing with the Clippers. Face it. The Clippers are cursed. They will never be succesful.

Everytime I hear that, Shaun Livingston comes to mind :P 4th pick and almost a career-ending injury.

Elton Brand?

I'll just pretend all the Iverson talk in here is a joke.

I don't like the offseason, people just get dumb from one day to the other.

It's like a pandemic.

Nope he's only an all-star (N)

Says the person who thinks Kobe is the GOAT

Of course neither Iverson nor Odom are at the level of their personally proposed parallels, but the philosophy of their relationship is somewhat of a parallelizational if paradoxical persuasion (Y)

Sources told ESPN.com Tuesday that Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, was traveling to Las Vegas to arrange a meeting with the Clippers as the next step in the process of finding a new home for Iverson, the former MVP and four-time scoring champion who is an unrestricted free agent.

The Memphis Grizzlies remained the most viable fallback option for Iverson, with the Grizzlies holding the trump card -- should they choose to play it -- of being able to offer Iverson more money than the Clippers.

Also in the Iverson picture are the Miami Heat, who, like many NBA teams, are waiting this week to see how the fallout from the Paul Millsap offer-sheet signing will affect the free-agent and trade markets going forward.

Utah has until Friday to match Portland's four-year, $34 million offer sheet, and the Blazers could re-enter the market as major cap-space players -- a development that would send ripple effects throughout the league, affecting Lamar Odom, Carlos Boozer and others -- if Utah decides to match.

Memphis is eager to add Iverson for his box-office appeal in a city where the franchise has struggled to tap into the community fan base, though Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley has said he believes Miami is the favorite to end up with Iverson.

It's scary reading this thread. I sense no love for the Clippers, just a bunch of hate for the Lakers.

Oh, and Elton Brand was a Superstar on the Clippers(for one year). That's how he became an All Star. That's how they got to the second round. Too bad he decided to play in the NBA Europe thing instead of continuing his off season conditioning work, which was what helped him slim down before the 05-06 season and become such a beast.

Anyways, with the Clippers it's always too little too late when they get those key players for a good supporting cast like Sam Cassell, Mark Jackson, as they are too old to really do anything long term. Look at Baron Davis. He's about to be 30 and has barely played a season with LA. How does a guy shooting %40 for his career help a team? And Iverson?
