Case closed.

I don't know that you could completely rule out Artest self-destructing or having some kind of "personal issues" that get in the way of success in Los Angeles, though he seems to have put a lot of that behind him. However, as I said before if anything goes wrong with the Lakers this season I think it will be more a case of "too many cooks". The Lakers had put together a roster that obviously worked, a combination of stars and capable supporting role players that produced a championship. We could now be looking at a case of too much talent and ill-fitted lineups that look great on paper but don't work as well together out on the court.
Like when they had Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton and Fisher together?

Yes, the 2004 team does come to mind.

The Artest to the lakers is one of many interesting trades so far. Watching the nba next season should be cool.
Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:42 pm
Agreed, the player movement has been pretty wild so far with big names changing teams so it should make for an interesting season.

I just hope L.A will make a good chemistry with Artest in the next season of the NBA cuz their are now many teams that are now much more tougher and much more stronger than them..like BOSTON
Mon Jul 06, 2009 5:26 pm
Boston? Just because they now have Rasheed Wallace with them doesn't mean they're tougher and stronger than LA. Artest > Wallace anyway. I think LA is still tougher and stronger than Boston especially when almost every players on Boston is above 30 years of age.

I quote myself next season if this becomes true.

It's been a while, so I had to go looking for the clip.

Imagine what it would be like if Rodman punched him instead.
Wed Jul 08, 2009 1:20 am
Rodman would've been fined and ejected probably.

Rodman would've been fined and ejected probably.
What was his penalty for kicking that camera man though? Wasn't it similar?
Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:33 am
He reached a $200,000 settlement with the cameraman and the NBA suspended him for 11 games, the whole ordeal costing him around $1 million including the lost pay.
Wed Jul 08, 2009 12:43 pm
Damn, that cameraman is lucky.

I bet all the pain were gone after 20 minutes at most. That in exchange for $200,000? I'll bite.
Wed Jul 08, 2009 2:06 pm
^same. i would've faked it for 200,000 lol
Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:59 pm
I'd probably try to hit him with that camera..

But that's just me.

The official signing:The Los Angeles Lakers have signed free agent forward Ron Artest, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
Oh yeah, another reason to be sad.

Good Luck Ron Ron.

You guys might find this a pretty good read. This is the most interesting section from the article:
Kobe said that after the Lakers lost game six of the '08 NBA Finals in Boston by 39 points, he was alone in the shower, just fuming. He heard somebody walk in and assumed it was one of his teammates, or maybe a staff member. Instead, he looked up, and it was Ron Artest (to this day, Kobe has no idea how Artest got into the locker room).
"I want to come help you," Artest said.

If that was true, I wonder how Artest got into the locker room. Kobe was alone, in the shower too! Imagine how insecure Kobe must have felt, with Artest in the locker room when he shouldn't be able to, telling Kobe, who is in the shower alone, that he wants to "help" him.

His rap tribute to MJ is actually quite nice too. At least that's what I think but maybe I've got no taste.

Jersey no# 37?

I guess he's choosing numbers no-one has ever worn.
Thu Jul 09, 2009 5:42 am
That's in tribute to MJ's hit Thriller spending 37 weeks atop the charts as number one.
Thu Jul 09, 2009 6:21 am
Damn, should have checked RealGM before posting.
Thu Jul 09, 2009 10:29 am
Hmm, new number, maybe a clean fresh start as well, let`s hope the best.
That 37 fits better on him in a LAL uni than a 96 anyways, good choice.
Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:07 am
It's not like he has much to atone for from this past season in Houston, but a new number for a new start seems appropriate all the same.
Thu Jul 09, 2009 5:20 pm
"I want to cum help you," Artest said.
Thats what artest should have told to kobe when they were talking to each other
