http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/ ... or_q_rich/The Grizzlies have agreed to trade Quentin Richardson to the Clippers for Zach Randolph.
Richardson, whose contract expires after this season, was traded by the Knicks to the Grizzlies for Darko Milicic on draft night.
The Clippers no longer had a need for Randolph, whom they acquired from the Knicks last November, with number one pick Blake Griffin inheriting the team's power forward duties.
The deal will not become official until next week
I simply must lol @ Randolph being traded AGAIN. I really don't feel this was that great of a move for either team, but whatever, I guess. Punk for punk. As far as raw talent goes, Memphis got a great deal.
edit: I guess this is why the owner didn't give the OK to offer David Lee a contract.

Hmm Memphis traded a waste of money for a piece of shit. Z-Bo gets paid way more I believe, so LAC actually gets the better end here! Chris Wallace is one of the worst GM's ever.

I thought Memphis would go after Paul Millsap or David Lee.
But now, they got this overpaid (but talented) player who won't get any younger or better.
The second reason why I don't like this trade is because Miles and Richardson won't be together again.

Miles + Randolph!

grizzlies dont need to cap right now though
they are just going to pump everything they have into developing that big guy, mayo, younger gasol, and gay

Randolph will be a great mentor for their youth!

Randolph again?
I think Memphis is the winner in this trade, but not by much. Randolph should be able to contribute to the team more than Richardson, but either way this trade doesn't look that necessary. I guess it's the case of "Punk for punk."

They should have traded Miles and Richardson together to reunite them in LAC.

Memphis wins the trade? They get a counter-productive team cancer with a huge cancer, killing their cap space for this offseason and the next, while the Clippers gte an expiring contract.

I believe the Clippers got the better end of this deal. They dumped Randolph to make space for potential superstar in Griffin and got a good long-range shooter. Plus Q-Rich is in the last year of his contract. The Grizzlies got Zach Randolph. Case closed.

I think that Clippers got the best out of this deal. Randolph was in trade talks with Knicks last year, wasn't he? Grizzlies just got him one year later. Their GM still made a mistake..

It's not Wallace's fault really, he had an offer up for Lee, but Heisley (Grizzlies owner) nixed it. Idiot.

My mistake, I didn't look that far and concluded that Memphis got the better end of this deal.

2nd worst offensive team in the league last year? randolph is ass at defense and all fundamentals of playing in the paint, but he can score. that's all the grizzlies need him to do -- get in there every game and drop 15-20 on a reliable basis, which he CAN do. the trade was a good salary-related move for the clips but it was still a gain of talent for the grizzlies. it's a fair deal.
Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:36 pm
If Z-Bo stops his bad ass attitude, then the Grizz will be in contention.

no they wont

And people wonder why no rookie in their mind wants to go to Memphi

Why in the hell did they draft Thabeet for? I thought they wanted to develop the frontline of Gasol and Thabeet.

So they trade for the craziest, laziest and most insane player in the whole league? Why? Do teams HAVE to spend cap space or something? That trade makes no sense at all for Memphis ... none whatsoever. Thats the second LA team Wallace has given a helping hand ... first he giftwraps Gasol to the Lakers (that was him, wasn't it?), now this... I guess Dunleavy and Sterling are popping the champagne right now.

Zach Randolph interferes with young players' development I think. He always has been an ass and I don't think the case will change in Grizzlies. I'm glad the Clippers dumped him. Gasol, Mayo and Gay have something to worry about now.

looks like randolph will always play on losing teams because no respectable team wants his "services"

You guys know that about a week or two ago, Memphis said Miles would never play for them again. Especially after the second pot thing.

Not a bad deal for the Clippers. They've well and truly cleared room in the rotation for Griffin, shed themselves of Randolph and his contract and picked up a player who might be able to give them decent minutes at shooting guard and small forward. His contract also comes off the books at the end of the year.
As far as the Grizzlies are concerned...well, Randolph is a 20-10 player, so it could be worse. It could be a lot better, too.
Sat Jul 04, 2009 4:07 am
Maybe they will use Randolph as small forward? Maybe Randolph as power forward and Thabeet at center?
Sat Jul 04, 2009 4:12 am
Why would they start him at SF?
