Drives to the basket as well, getting fouled a lot.

Like i don't know that  Hedo is good player. I wanted to say that Carter can pull up a quick dunk in final moments and he can shoot threes aswell. He's lot faster than Hedo.

Would turkoglu and carter have to play the same position?

That's true. Jumps higher as well.

@ the last post: I think they could play together.

They're both able to play SG & SF I'd say, but I would play Carter at two and Hedo at three.
But Hedo is going to be gone anyway.

I haven't seen VC play in a whole lot time, is really still that fast and athletic? IMO, Hedo > Carter already.

He's still fast and athletic.

He sure can throw a ball through a hoop.

I like the deal a lot for the Nets, and I've been waiting for it in some form for the last two years or so. Carter gets to go back "home" to finish off his career, and the Nets get a lot closer to where they want to be salary-wise for the 2010 free agency. If "demonstrated interest" has any value in NBA free agency, the Nets have definitely got the potential to pick up one of the top five picks from the 2003 draft.

During the Finals, Alston mentioned that he still expects to get traded no matter where he ends up. A couple of weeks later and it happens again.

To me, this deal is kind of like San Antonio's acquisition of Richard Jefferson. It looks pretty nice on paper but this is the same Vince Carter that has been criticised for being injury prone (not so much these days), quitting on a team, at times being selfish or at least having a poor shot selection and lacking defensively. It's a pretty big turnaround to tout him as the player who's going to make all the difference in Orlando. That's not to say he won't, or can't. Like the Jefferson trade, I'm just skeptical.

Looks like it is official now. ESPN had just beamed up a graphic showing this trade. I jumped out of my bed when I saw it, now the Magics are even more scary than they were last year. (Y) I was surprised how they gave up Courtney Lee and Alston, but it makes sense since Nelson is a better choice.

A fit Nelson is freaking scary.

Wow, another big trade. Would this mean that the Larry O'Brien trophy is going to Orlando for the first time?

I'd say it could, I wouldn't say it would. As I said, I'm not sure how Carter goes from maligned star who's often called overrated to being the player who will put a team over the top.

Let's just see next year. Can we compare the Magic to the Spurs?

I like how everyone who isn't in the New Jersey area has a more favorable perception of Carter than he deserves.

Sucks Lee had to go.. But otherwise, great trade for both teams. Alston is a great back-up for the Nets and Lee can start at SG.

A valid point.

My personal opinion is just based on how valuable Hedo is to the current team, especially in the past two seasons. It's hard to see how someone replacing Hedo could actually improve the team chemistry-wise, even if that person is Vince Carter.

 Hating? What I basically said was that I think Hedo is more valuable to the Magic team than Vince Carter. Have you and Vince been swordfighting your tummy sticks or something?

Don't forget about Toronto. While fans in the States and around the world watched VC on the highlight reels, we had to endure his constant whining and lazy attitude.

I think VC will be a good fit for this team though. He's not much of a leader so it's good that he can hide behind Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis.

you guys have to be nuts take away Hedo from the Magic last Season and they don't get pass Cavs and they don't get to the finals. Please, Hedo makes just as many if not more clutch shots then VC. Is Hedo a better Player then VC of course not overall but at this point in VC career Hedo is just as good. Now I will Admit if the Magic can keep Hedo its a great trade, but if they can't they no one can tell me that Loosing Hedo, Alston, Lee, Battie for VC is worth it. You got to be crazy Vince for two of my best players in Hedo and Lee and a good point in Alston no way. You guys better hope they keep Hedo or Magic will loose to Cavs or Boston

I think he was referring to your sig. It must be that time of the month again for him, that's why he's irritated about nothings.

I'd agree that Hedo's not a better player, but he is a better fit for the Magic offense. He does more for a team's offensive scheme than Carter, considering Turkoglu is the type of player who not only scores but facilitates at the same time. On the other hand, Carter is the type of player whose idea of offense is to do it all himself, without any similar intention of distributing the ball on offense or working to make his teammates better.

Any of you guys watch the draft till the end?

Jeff Van Gundy said he wanted to "congratulate Orlando with replacing Turkoglu with a better player." :!:

I found it highly remarkable. I wonder what's between the lines there...

Not just an objective journalistic observation I'd say... :cheeky:

Do you even watch Carter play? One of the best aspects of Carter is his ability to pass the ball.
