Sixers 09/10 Logo Update (v1.1)

It's extremely rare that I release anything other than a roster update (and rest assured, I will be continuing the roster updates for NBA Live 2005 through NBA Live 08 sometime after the Draft) but as I dabbled a little in logo editing while converting some 08 files for use with the 2005 roster, I decided to try updating the Sixers' logos in NBA Live 08 with their newly unveiled "new old look". If nothing else, I feel they can hold us over until one of our more talented graphics patchers releases an update of their own and it was certainly fun to try something new.

Sounds good but I wish you could do it 'nondestructively' so we could keep the old logo and just change the 2 letter abbreviation in teams.dbf to make up the update. Same for OKC/Seattle...

I get where you're coming from, but this isn't a retro update; it's their updated design based on the old logo that they'll be using starting this year. It's not just a matter of dbf editing too, you also need to change the abbreviations within the .big file and that's an unnecessary step for people who want to update their game. When it comes to current updates, I believe they should be as "plug and play" as possible, with as little tinkering by the user as possible.

To give you an example, from some of the emails I get the process of clicking the install.exe file and then going to the Load/Save menu to get a current roster update loaded seems too taxing for some users, let alone leaving it to people to edit dbf and .big files. If you wish to use the logo update in a different way, then you're certainly free to make those changes so you can preserve the original logo - note that you'll also have to edit every single other art file for the team to match the new abbreviation however - but it's not fair to require people to do all that work when all they want is an art update.

Sorry, I don't make face patches. As I said in my first post it's rare I do any graphics patches at all but logos are a bit easier so I thought I'd give it a try. I'll have to leave the faces to someone else though.

Again, I don't normally make graphics patches, I update rosters (and I already plan on continuing those updates for next season) so I'm not really taking requests. Sorry. I'll have a shot at an updated version of the logo patch and I'll see what happens after that. I'll probably be too busy with the offseason roster updates anyway, but with my limited abilities with graphics I'm not really someone who should be taking requests just yet anyway.

Here's a new version, using the new primary logo as revealed by sportslogos.net. I've also used the partial logo where appropriate and updated the wordmark with the script logo posted on SportsLogos. They've certainly made some interesting choices with the new/old logo.

Wonder if 76ers going to have new jerseys with it since they can't use the blkack jerseys anymore..

I reckon they will. If the logos are anything to go by their new jerseys will be somewhat of a throwback as well. Something like this perhaps:

Nice update there 'drew. Surprised to see a graphic update from you. Great work nonetheless.

EDIT: As the Sixers website have said, they will have a new court and a new set of jerseys.
