Vince Carter might just get traded to the Magic

As a Magic fan, I must say that I'm extremely excited. Vince still has enough explosion left in him. We do loose Lee, who has a whole lot of potential, but Alston HAD to go, and it's nice to see him go for someone of Vince's caliber. It's a steal for the Magic considering the fact that we had to get rid of Alston (and were going to loose Battie to retirement anyway). Decent trade for New Jersey which is trying to rebuild.

All in all... Vince Carter next to Dwight, Lewis, and potentially Hedo...

Dwight-Rashard-Pietrus-Carter-Nelson.. Should be frightening.. But if this goes through, they probably wont re-sign Turkoglu. If they however someway manage it, the Magic will win the title they fell short of this year.

I don't really see us resigning Hedo either, unless we manage to shed some more salaries or trading J.J. for a couple of players. What we really need to focus on now is getting a solid big for the bench. Gortat isn't staying.

That'd be a good lineup, and would really help the defending Eastern Conference champs.

Carter obviously is a better playmaker than Hedo, so I think why not, if NJN is willing to give him up.

That's a scary team. It makes other teams look like they're not even trying.

By the way, how do Magic fans feel about Stan Van Gundy as coach? I know there was a lot of criticism about him during the playoffs and he seems to have a negative attitude, although results were pretty damn good this year.

I expect him to last 2 seasons (3 tops).
When your superstar (Dwight) criticizes you for not having the ball go through him, and your coaching acumen is questioned openly by almost everyone (and secretly by his players, I think), then he has very little margin of error to work on. One slip again might get him booted.
And that's Dwight Howard, one of the nicest players in the league (because he's Christian! ), who doesn't even speak against Shaq despite the ridicule he gets from Diesel. When a person with that character gets pissed or even gets annoyed at you, maybe Stan is doing something wrong.

Stan Van Gundy is the best thing to happen to the Magic since drafting Dwight.

The Boston Globe is reporting that the New Jersey Nets have traded Vince Carter to the Orlando Magic for Tony Battie, Rafer Alston, and Courtney Lee.

I really hope we keep Ryan Anderson (who we get in the trade). He had a surprisingly productive rookie season and having a shooting big man who can spread the floor can really help our second team out.

All in all, this trade makes it possible for us to beat a healthy Boston or a healthy Shaqtastic Cavs team.

Carter gives us that one guy who isn't afraid to take over the game and be the guy with the ball in his hands. He's a natural leader, which is something that this team lacks.

Agreed. Then again I'm not a Magic fan, so all I've seen from this team is this year's playoffs. Oh, and also when they kicked us out of the first round last year (Raptors). With Carter on the team now, Toronto has one more reason to hate on the Magic.

well those are just the conference finals you predicted not the whole thing. And you never know how much of an impact those guys(jefferson, Shaq, Carter) are going to have. Also, don't count a healthy Boston out of the championship race. Denver was probably a one year wonder though as I think that this was their year to win it all with all the hype and momentum they had, they just had to win either game one or game 3 against the Lakers.. oh well, hope I'm wrong.

How can you make a chemistry judgment without witnessing the way Vince plays and behaved with the Magic first?

All in all, I honestly don't see why Hedo wouldn't come back to a Magic team that has Carter, Lewis, and Howard in it. It's worth the pay cut.

umm history says vince might fuck up the chemistry, not saying he will but its not a stretch for cyanide to bring it up

I agree he was instrumental. Carter is a great scorer but I think this would work in particular when they retain him.

Cavs - Magic looks likely indeed but don't rule out Chicago & Boston.

I don't see how Carter is an upgrade over Hedo.

Carter is faster ( can drive to the hoop at final moments) and he can shoot the game winning three too.

Like Hedo never drops a three in crunchtime.

Drives to the basket as well, getting fouled a lot.
