I even have no idea who the announce teams are right now. All I can remember is Cole-JR for Smackdown and King-? for Raw. That's it

Re: WWE Thread

Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:29 pm

RAW is Cole and King, though depending on the taping schedule JR sometimes joins them. Todd Grisham and JR do Smackdown while Josh Matthews and Matt Striker call ECW.

And Smackdown sounds lame, like Todd is just placed there for random reasons.

All of Extreme Rules were... Not extreme. No blood, no tables, none of those bats with barbed wire on the edge. I really miss those days.

The best match of that PPV was Hardy vs Edge. But it's sub-par compared to the old ladder matches.

Wow, I really am behind the news with wrestling now. No loss there.

Agreed. JR has been putting him over in his blogs and I respect that as it's a classy thing for JR to do, but I much prefer him doing play-by-play with King being the colour man. If any duo should be the company's "A" team in the booth, it's those two.

I haven't watched any WWE for some time as well, the current storylines, especially RAW's, are too dumb and boring for me right now. And I say that knowing I can't expect much from Pro-Wrestling these days.

I believe Cena and Miz have a match at The Bash (which is another ridiculous name change for a PPV by the way), which would be a good oppourtunity to push Miz by giving him a good, long match. But why do I have the feeling that he either gets destroyed by Cena or picks up a win after a Big Show interference, which wouldn't help his character a bit.
Anyway, I don't really give a damn.

Question. Does anybody here think that this PG approach will ever stop? Do you guys think we will ever see a match with intentional blood again? In WWE that is.

I think WWE PG will not stop as long as they is have lots of kids watching their show. I really want them to end this PG approach but probably there is a very little chance of them changing it. :(

Edit: I haven't watch WWE lately and do they still use any weapons at all?

Re: WWE Thread

Thu Jun 25, 2009 7:45 am

They still do chairs and I guess HHH still does some sledgehammer shots, but that's about it.

No wait, they actually used quite a few weapons in the match where Dreamer won the Title, trashcans, kendo sticks, but without a drip of blood it's not the same to me.

So it's going to continue forever then.
Kids have always been watching wrestling. I bet almost all of us who posts in this thread got hooked to it as a kid.

I'd say it won't end unless it really backfires on the WWE and they start to suffer from it. Even with TNA and ROH getting mainstream attention they've still got a monopoly though so I wouldn't count on that happening anytime soon.

what I am more worried about is SvR 2010. a wrestling game with weapons but no blood or gratuitous female exposure

no thanks

RAW is Cole

God that would've put a different spin on the Monday Night Wars.

Re: WWE Thread

Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:03 pm

He was the lead announcer on RAW for a while when JR was battling another bout of Bell's Palsy in 1999...which also lead to a rather horrid angle.

The original Mortal Kombat on the SNES with its recoloured "sweat" comes to mind.

thought you didn't like the game anyway? But yeah not bein gable to make people bleed in the next installment of SvR would be a shame ...

I've really come around on Legends and while I traded Svr 2009 30 minutes after exporting to Legends since I played a whole 2 matches in it I'd like to think THQ might do something just swell this year. By either incorperating an opional control scheme like legends or an option to get rid of the right analog stuff.

I really just want No Mercy controls....

Re: WWE Thread

Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:29 pm

I highly doubt they're going to make any significant changes to the Smackdown controls (or gameplay for that matter). I kinda like them, the right stick controls are decent IMO, they should just do the Ultimate Control Grapples quicker. I had some very, very good matches with some realistic finishes.
By the way, when I played the LOW demo I was like 'wtf is this', - the controls seemed horrible to me.

Though before you traded in the game I think you shoulda checked out the Road To WrestleMania modes. Even though you may not like the controls the storylines were pretty good, espicially HHH's or CM Punk's. They definitely were TV worthy.

i was never a "story" fan, I loved No Mercy's story mode tho

Am I the only one who noticed Cena getting worse since he had acting classes?

He's making the classic acting mistake of thinking too much what he is going to do instead of trying to be natural.

Re: WWE Thread

You mean on WWE TV or in his movies? I've yet to see any of the WWE Films productions.

Re: WWE Thread

Fri Jun 26, 2009 9:33 am

I haven't seen any of his movies either. I meant in the ring. He seems too concious of the faces he is making while wrestling.

I saw Stunning Steve's movie and it wasn't bad.

Vince turning into a heel again?

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:52 am

I suppose he's kind of a tweener at the moment. On his own, he's mostly a heel but he's more of a face whenever he's actively involved with the continuing angle with Randy Orton.

Y2J and Edge, the new Unified Tag Team champs. Does Smackdown has a potential tag team contender for those two?

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Jun 29, 2009 2:06 pm

They probably won't have a long reign. Every so often the tag belts go to a duo of main eventers to raise their profile and shake things up a little bit. Meanwhile, chalk up another tag title win for Edge's stats.

In the middle of watching the bash and holy cow is the rey - jericho match awesome.

Vince McMahon is such a dick.

Melina is so flexible and her boobs are huge. She works hard too. She could be champ forever as long as I care.
I think Michelle McCool is a man in a woman's body.

I prefer the great Khali over Cm Punk.

Mizz is entertaining.
