Don't go flaming the guy, I'd say he's right. The Bulls teams in Jordan's first three seasons were very so-so (38, 30, 40?) Then they picked up Pippen and Grant, moved up to 50 wins and beat the Cavs in "The Shot" series, and kept moving on up.
He isn't even talking about the 90s Bulls, get your facts straight instead of calling the guy a moron. And I wouldn't say the 90s Bulls could beat the 80s Celtics in their peak any given day. That Hall of Fame frontline looks awfully good against...Luc Longley or Bill Cartwright. Nothing against those two, but come on. You could put Rodman/Horace Grant on one of them, but still picking your poison. I wonder what the Dennis Johnson guarding MJ contest would've gone like though, DJ was a shut-down defender but MJ probably had the height advantage. Danny Ainge would probably play evenly enough with Ron Harper or John Paxson if you want to talk earlier (if it were Harper, I'd give him an advantage). Bench-wise, they were pretty equal too. Toni Kukoc, Steve Kerr against the Cedric Maxwells, Gerald Hendersons and Bill Waltons of the world.
I wouldn't say the Cavs are like the early Jordan Bulls though, Mo Williams is near-legit as a LeBron second banana (i.e. not a typical second banana), Ilgauskas useful, West and Gibson great for sinking the looks they get, Varejao, Pavlovic as energy guys. Just be thankful there's no Larry Hughes anymore...

I have to agree with this guy too. And who cares that MJ scored 63? Bulls lost in that game, and that was MJ's fault (remember that wide open J?), maybe not his fault only, but still..

As the previous two folks have noted, I was talking about the Bulls teams that Jordan was on before Scottie and Horace got there. The ones with guys like Orlando Woolridge, Dave Corzine, and Granville Waiters. Although now that I think about it, the 2009 Cavs are probably more like the 1988 Bulls, the year that Pippen and Grant first joined the team. Those Bulls were able to win a playoff series for the first time in MJ's career, but they got killed by the Pistons in the second round. However, I stand by my assertion that the 2009 Cleveland Cavs would NOT win 66 games if they played in the mid-to-late 80s NBA.
LeBron would probably win every individual award, though.

I think they'll have less wins .

To quote Larry Bird after the game, "That was God disguised as Michael Jordan. He's the most awesome player I've ever seen...he was getting his points in the flow of the game...scary". And that time they got swept, he was just a freaking kid!!!!! 90's Bulls beat prime Celtics on any given day!!!!!!!!!
this quote here just shows me that you are a fucking idiot. jordan dropped 63 cause he had to, and they still lost. they can beat the prime celtics any given day? thats gotta be the dumbest thing i ever hear. you realize at thier prime the celtics wear pretty much unbeatable at home right? i am not saying the celtics would crush the bulls (would also be a stupid statement) i am saying it would be one amazing matchup

Well, Jordan did drop 63 on them Celtics. The Bulls will probably be crushed on the frontcourt matchups.

Mo's a great third option at best, imo.

Lebron's Best Chance of winning a championship at this stage lies with the Cavaliers.
A lot of people would not follow the cavs anymore if Lebron wasn't there.

I'd agree with that. They're in a position to re-tool and make a change that could put them over the top; whether they will or not remains to be seen but they're already a team that came within six wins of an NBA championship and they have options moving forward. If he was to sign with New York (for example), there's no telling what the rest of the team would look like with the payroll having been trimmed to bring him in. With the right moves, the Cavaliers could remain contenders with a legitimate shot at winning a championship for at least a few years. Even with LeBron, a team like the Knicks is less likely to be in that position so soon unless they really luck out.

It's obvious the needs are Adjusments in Cleveland and Changes in NY to become a true contender whichever the team Lebron chooses. Cleveland even though they didn't make it to the finals, they were a serious contender, but then again, it doesn't mean that they will be one again next season. They seem to need to make an adjustment or even a change to win it all. If he lands anywhere else, it will definitely be a new challenge in his career which I'm also tempted to see. Loyalty also sounds cool.

I doubt that he's ready to start everything over again, if he moves to another team. He should stay where his chances to win are the highest.

James may never win the ring. That would be bizarre, but we have one example>Karl Malone
Malone is/was one of the best PF-s in the league. In that case Scalabrine>Malone.
Thu Jun 11, 2009 7:02 am
There's a difference - one of the best and the best. Malone could win if they had to play against any other team than Bulls.

It's not really that bizarre, some of the best players were never on a team that had the tools to get it done and some came close but simply fell victim to teams that were ultimately able to get the job done. Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Dominique Wilkins, Patrick Ewing...it's unfortunate, but that's how it happens in sport. We know that they're better than the Stackey Kings, Jason Caffeys, Brian Scalabrines and Keith Booths of the world, even if those players have a ring (or two or three) and the former group doesn't.

Yeah you are right Andrew.
I feel sorry for them.Legends should win a championship ring for being best. But yeah, sport is higly unpredictable at times.Huge twisted games in playoffs and stuff like that.Cavs just need a good supportive cast next to James.Cavs management must be smart this summer.. Game of basketball still remains a team sport/effort,you can rely on one man,but it's hard to deal with it.But hey, let's hope best for the Cavs
Thu Jun 11, 2009 1:26 pm
I blame Michael , Larry and Magic for that .

They had a good supporting cast this year with Mo Williams, Delonte West and other people. The management was smart acquiring Mo Williams. Cleveland was the best team in the regular season and that's the evidence. These guys just choked in the playoffs and now we're blaming the supporting cast for the Cav's lost.

I think this team is good enough , this year's experience will be a motivation for them next year .
For the Offseason , I suggest them to get a good wing defender ( Ariza and Dahntay type players ) .
Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:35 pm
Who bumped this old ass thread about Lebron wearing a yankees cap when he went to their baseball game...
Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:40 pm
I wouldn't be surprised if James' championship career mirrors that of Wilt.
Most dominant player of his time and will probably pick one or two rings before his career is over. Not the expected championship dynasty team(s) that he's supposed to have because of his awesomness.
Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:52 pm
That's very likely, unless he somehow gets a chance to play along another superstar. Kobe and Wade got their rings (this year doesn't count yet) playing with Shaq. If LeBron got anyone half as good on his team, they could win more than 1 or 2 rings.

Why do you blame them? It's just that they had the chance to win the championship. They all deserve it, but there's always only one winner. LeBron had a chance in 2007, but got swept by that Spurs team.

LeBron got the chance, but look at his teammates back then...

Yes , they all deserve it .
Hello , if there were no Michael , Larry and Magic , Charles , Dr.J , Karl , Stockton and their the other ones would've been Champs .

Dr. J is a champion.
