Damn, he's always stupid. He calls but for real, it shouldn't be called. Stupid Joey.

And oh yes, Orlando is back in this series. Who knows, they might be like the '06 Miami Heat championship team.

Good win for the Magic, Van Gundy should tell his players to avoid those soft passes next time and let his point guards be the point guard instead of having Turkoglu. Alston's contributions and Lee's defense(despite those 3rd quarter turnovers, and that useless foul to Kobe) are the bright spot on this one. The Lakers played well also it's just that Kobe didn't have it this time. And also, Dwight should get a lot of touches and Lewis should act like an all-star player. He plays more like a rookie compared to Lee...

That shot in the fourth quarter where Dwight blocked Kobe's layup attempt, the closer referee who was right under the basket and saw the play clearly didn't even blow his whistle, whereas Crawford was further away and saw the play from behind blew the whistle. Dwight got all ball on that play. :shake:

The foul wasnt on howard it was on the guy guarding kobe im not sure who he was but the foul was on him

I'm pretty sure that the foul was on Howard on the play I'm talking about. Maybe you're not thinking about the same play as I am. It's where Kobe hugged the ball up and Dwight got both his hands on the ball.

Great win for the Magic when it could easily have been another blowout the way the Lakers came out of the gate, or a fourth quarter meltdown had Kobe's shot been falling the second half. They really had to fight for it but a win is a win and they came through, so nicely done.

As irritating as I'm finding Mark Jackson these days, he did have a great point in comparing the post game of Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard. Howard really should try to avoid bringing the ball back down to belt height more often, while Gasol is exceptional at keeping the ball above his shoulders for the quick finish. It wouldn't be as big a problem if Howard were a more consistent free throw shooter and to his credit he has been knocking them down a little better in these Playoffs but he's got the strength and athleticism to make that quick finish and draw the and-one rather than giving the defense time to hack him and force him to make two. That's something that could come in time though and he'll throw in a nice move here or there so his post game is hardly terrible or limited only to dunks.

That the Lakers were in it until the end despite Kobe cooling off considerably after the first quarter is a testament to how the rest of the team is stepping up. They're not just standing around watching and that doesn't bode well for the Magic. It looks like this could still be a series though which is good but I still like the Lakers' chances of finishing the job much more than the Magic pulling it off having missed out on getting the split.

Great game from Rafer Alston. He's been much maligned over the years (and not without reason) and he's had a bit of a bumpy career making the transition from streetball legend to being a dependable pro in the NBA but it's nice to see him step up to fill in for Nelson. Since Nelson has been cleared to play I think he should be there on the bench as an ace for Stan Van Gundy to have up his sleeve but so long as Alston is playing well he should be getting the lion's share of the minutes at point guard.

Does age matters though? Everyone knows for a fact that Crawford should blow something else instead of a whistle. If you think he's a great referee then that's absolutely fine. (Y)

Hell, it could have been a blowout the way the Magic came out.

It's ridiculous that Orlando didn't win that game by 20.

A win is still a win though. Expect the Magic to win the next two as well.

Great job setting an NBA record. Showed the world that we are indeed a quality shooting team.

I wouldn't call it a "great" game from Rafer though. He did score a lot, which is good... some amazing penetration moves while hitting the open jumpers... his passing was still extremely weak, and we committed some extremely unnecessary turnovers. It was a "good" game by him though.

I also think that any 5 year old could see that Dwight shouldn't bring the ball back down. It's hard to credit Jackson with noting that which is painfully obvious.

Great game by Alston, Dwight and Howard. Turkoglu also did his deeds and Pietrus was hot off the bench, very important put-back dunk he had there late. Thank god Odom left his candy in LA, if he'd had a double-double, I think we would be looking at a 3-0 lead for the Lake show.

Re: NBA Finals 2009: Lakers vs Magic

Kobe just missed every shot that mattered in the fourth, even the free throws. He also had a critical turnover nearing the end of regulation. Otherwise, I think the Lakers could have won this game no problemo. Not so clutch unlike his reputation tonight.

Orlando had to shoot 62.5% from the field, and make 76.7% of free throws to come out with a narrow win, so I don't think the Lakers will panic too much. Overall, it was quite intense untill the last second. Alston came out focused and helped a team a lot. Dwight's presence was felt all along the game as well. Great team effort. I can't wait till game 4.

Great shooting performance by the Magic. Painful loss for LA, Kobe missing those freethrows really hurt.

I was glad to see Odom come somewhat alive after disagreeing with that call that gave him his third foul, he was quiet until that. It's also very painful to watch how some of the Magic players obviously ignore the chance to get the ball in to Howard. Poor usage of him, he could dominate Gasol all day and they just ignored him on several occassions. The more they go in to him, the better he'll be able to adjust to the defense and make the right play. They won, no doubt, but with such a high shooting percentage they should've won by a larger margin.

Fun atmosphere in the Arena, hardly any Laker jerseys in sight. I'm hoping LA takes game 04.
