Good idea to reduce the scenarios to 3, the reason I was not joining because I felt like they were too many..

You can still join... you would be in the last places :P

Guys, I'm seeing you all choose Jackson in the rebound scenario. I mean, it's kinda obvious that Ronny Turiaf, forward/center, will get more rebounds than Bobby Jackson, point guard... but have in mind that I make the predictions after I simulate the games  Sometimes the scenario is very easy, but I want to trick you, sometimes I don't want to and it's an easy point. :cheeky: If someone wants to edit his prediction, go ahead. Man, your presentation style is surely on of the best ever. This is a great association, no doubt, but a little piece is missing, if you get that piece, this can be the best ever (Y)

Re: Blue & White: Ignite (6-0) :: Preview vs. POR, Predictions

Tue Jun 02, 2009 4:08 pm

The presentation is beautiful. The problem, the "missing piece" is that he chose a team that is already built for a title. The thing that makes these fun to read is the transformation process. You can still make an entertaining association with a good team, but not by playing all 82 games. You can marvel at the presentation, play the prediction game, and get the reply counter into quadruple, maybe quintuple digits if you finish the season, but the fact of the matter is, these games you are playing are almost meaningless.

I'm not that good of a dynasty/association maker, far less skilled than you, but I am your most vocal critic. I hate to see these beautiful recaps wasted on an association that won't go a full season, or matter in the big picture of the story. If you chose to do 29 game (or 75%+ simmed) stories with an awful team, you would have a decent chance of making one of the best ever.

Thanks a lot mandich and Lamrock. I'm seriously thinking in doing 82 games BUT choose a game each week and play it, and sim the rest of the games. Will play all playoffs, of course. What do you guys think?

Blue & White: Ignite :: Howard's Mansion

Superman's $8M mansion sight to behold
Dwight Howard scored a new $85 million contract with the Magic, and recently he rewarded himself
with an $8 million mansion he purchased in Seminole County. Realtors are calling it a castle.

Orlando Magic basketball star Dwight Howard has bought a spacious new house in Seminole County for $8 million -- apparently a record price for a single-family home in a county already known for its minimansions. The Chateau d' Usse, which had been listed for $9.7 million, captured all the awards this year during the local Street of Dreams luxury-home show. Karen Arbutine, a real estate agent with Re/Max Central Realty in Lake Mary, helped broker the sale of the 11,026-square-foot home in Longwood's Lake Club development.

Arbutine described the lavish home off Markham Woods Road as a "castle" with a cathedral-like entry and an ornate, handcrafted interior. Interesting features include an office with a secret room that leads to the master-bedroom closet and bathroom, and a swimming pool with a "lazy river" system and a waterfall. Roger Soderstrom, broker-owner of Stirling Sotheby's International Realty, confirmed that Howard was the buyer. Chocky Burks, Stirling's director of new homes in Lake Mary, negotiated the sale for the seller of the property, Hillcrest Homes.

Burks said the multistory, European-style home sits on 3 acres of lakefront land and contains five bedrooms, five full and two half baths, a game room, family room with large stone fireplace, home theater, art gallery, two guest suites and a four-car garage. According to real estate consultant Kathy Llamas, the Seminole County Property Appraiser's Office estimated that the previous record for a single-family home purchase in the county was about $7 million, based on a review of sales in recent years. Million-dollar homes sales in the Orlando area have dropped sharply this year from the record pace of a few years ago.

A survey by ERA Williams Real Estate Group shows 140 homes sold for $1 million or more during the first half of 2008, down from 231 during the first half of 2007. The average price paid for those homes was up a bit, however: $1.78 million versus $1.71 million a year earlier. The priciest home sold locally during the first half of the year was a five-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Isleworth, near Windermere in southwest Orange County. It sold for $9 million.

The Philadelphia 76ers today signed guard/forward >> Ruben Patterson to a contract, according to President and General Manager Ed Stefanski. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed, but a source says that Patterson has signed a 968K deal for 1 year. “We are pleased to add a veteran player with Ruben’s talents and experience to our squad,” said Stefanski. “He is a quality defender who gives us a physical and athletic presence, whether it’s serving as a starter or coming off the bench. We are getting a solid veteran who also has the talents to spread things on offense with his three-point shooting ability.” In 20 games with the Los Angeles Clippers last season, Patterson finished with averages of 5.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 16.4 minutes of action, while shooting .453 FGs. In addition, he is a player with past playoff experience, most recently with the Denver Nuggets in the 05/06 season. “Ruben’s addition is a great pickup for us,” Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. “He brings a lot of experience to the squad, and he is an excellent shooter and tough defensive player who we’re happy to add to our team.” The 6-5, 223-pounder, who is considered a strong, athletic defender, brings career averages of 10.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists (.517 FG%, .179 3FG%, .641 FT%) after ten NBA seasons.

The Sixers will be Patterson’s sixth NBA team, as he spent the last season with the Clippers, 2006-07 season with the Milwaukee Bucks after appearing in 70 games and splitting time with the Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets in 2005-06. In his career, which has also seen stops with the Seattle Supersonics and Los Angeles Lakers, Patterson has averaged 10.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Originally drafted by the Lakers with the 31st overall selection in the 1998 NBA Draft out of Cincinnati, Patterson played in 10 games for AEK Athens in Greece during the 1998-99 season as well. The Ohio native signed with Seattle before the 1999-2000 season and then moved to Portland prior to the 2001-02 season. Patterson was a star at the University of Cincinnati, averaging 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during his senior year and earning Second Team All-Conference USA honors. Patterson played his first two years of collegiate basketball at Independence Community College in Kansas before transferring to Cincinnati for the 1996-97 season.

The Chicago Bulls announced today that they have signed free agent guard >> Malik Hairston. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed but ESPN says that the rookie signed a 1 year, 2.72M deal. Hairston, a 6'6", 220lbs guard out of Oregon played in six preseason games for the San Antonio Spurs and averaged 5.3 points and 4.5 rebounds before being waived by the Texas team. The Spurs originally acquired the draft rights to Hairston from the Phoenix Suns, along with Golden State's 2009 second-round pick and cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to guard >> Goran Dragic. Hairston last played for the Austin Toros, the Spurs affiliate in the NBA Development League. In 6 games with the Toros so far, Hairston has averaged 19.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists and was named this week’s D-League Performer of the Week after averaging 24.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in three Toros wins.

Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace announced today that the Grizzlies have acquired guard >> Raymond Felton from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for center >> Marc Gasol. “In obtaining Raymond, we have added a player who has outstanding talent and gives us speed and versatility in the backcourt,” said Wallace. “We gave up a talented young player like Marc, but in this league you have to give up talent to get talent.”

Felton, selected after his junior season by the Bobcats in first round (fifth pick overall) of 2005 NBA Draft, led North Carolina to the 2005 NCAA Championship along with forward >> Sean May and were signed by the Bobcats the same day. He was the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year in 2004-05, averaging 12.9 points, 6.9 assists and 2.0 steals in 36 games for the national champion Tar Heels. He led North Carolina to two NCAA Tournament appearances and its first national title since 1993. The 6-1, 198-pound point guard left North Carolina as the only Tar Heels player ever to tally 1,000 points, 600 assists, 300 rebounds, 150 steals and 100 three-pointers. Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said in press conference that “Raymond has unbelievable quickness and can blow by virtually any defender. He has dynamite athleticism and agility. He is a tremendous passer with great reflexes and will find a teammate for an open basket with the slightest opening in the defence. His court vision is one of his greatest attributes and seems to maintain scoring ability and touch despite not looking for his shot for stretches of the game, that's why we traded for him.” Felton also ranks fourth all-time on the UNC list for career assists (698), only the ninth Tar Heel to dish out more than 500 and ranks eighth at Carolina with 174 career three-pointers. In 2004-05, his junior season, he was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team after helping lead Carolina to the NCAA title, averaging 13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in the six NCAA Tourney wins. He was later named to the All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team, and was an Associated Press All-America Third Team selection.

Gasol, the younger brother of the Grizzlies’ all-time leading scorer >> Pau Gasol, now with the Los Angeles Lakers, Marc has played the last five seasons (2003-08) in the Spanish ACB League, making his professional debut as an 18-year-old with F.C. Barcelona. Most recently, he was named the league MVP after averaging 16.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks for Akasvayu Girona in 2007-08. “The Bobcats are pleased to be adding Marc to the team,” Bobcats head coach Larry Brown said. “He is a very dedicated player who made major progress over the past several years and is coming off a MVP season in the Spanish ACB League, which is the premier national league in Europe. He is a very skilled center in terms of his shooting and passing, possesses outstanding toughness, and is a winning, team-oriented player. He has done a remarkable job transforming his body.” The 7-1, 280-pound center was one of two ACB players to rank in the top five in scoring (5th), rebounding (3rd) and blocks (3rd), and his .653 field goal percentage was also second in the league. Memphis acquired Marc’s draft rights from the Los Angeles Lakers along with guard >> Javaris Crittenton, forward >> Kwame Brown, guard >> Aaron McKie, two first round draft picks (2008, 2010) and cash considerations in exchange for Pau and a 2010 second round pick on Feb. 1, 2008. The Lakers originally selected Marc with the 48th overall pick in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. The 23-year-old was a member of the Gold Medalist Spanish National Team in the 2006 FIBA World Championships and the Silver Medalist squad in the 2007 FIBA European Basketball Championships and also took place for his homeland in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, earning the silver medal, Spain falling to the United States, 118-107.

The Miami Heat announced today that the team has acquired guard >> Sergio Rodriguez from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for guard >> Luther Head and the Heat's 2009 2nd round pick. “Sergio is an outstanding ball-handler and passer who has gifted court vision. He wants to improve with his decision-making and as a defender and we will be very glad to help him with that,” Heat manager Pat Riley said.

Originally selected by the Phoenix Suns in the first round (27th overall pick) of the 2006 NBA Draft, Rodriguez (6-3, 176) was acquired by the Blazers in a draft day trade in exchange for cash considerations, and has appeared in 139 career regular season games (1 start) over this two past NBA seasons, owning career averages of 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He appeared in 72 games this past season with the Blazers, averaging 2.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 8.7 minutes. Rodriguez played his last two seasons in Spain with Adecco Estudiantes Madrid in the Spanish ACB, the country’s top professional league, also appearing in one playoff game with the club in 2003-04. He is a member of the Spanish National Team, helping the country to achieve to a third place finish at the 2004 Albert Schweitzer Games, averaging 15.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. He later led Spain to the 2004 European Junior Championships, earning MVP honors after averaging 19.0 points and 8.5 assists. In the 2005 European Under-20 Champions, Rodriguez represented his country averaging 11.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

Head, originally drafted by the Houston Rockets in the first round (24th overall pick) of the 2005 NBA Draft, was a member of 2005-06's T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie Second Team, leading all rookies in three-pointers made with 113, averaging 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his first NBA season. In the 2006–07 NBA season, he averaged 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, proving his worth as a valuable reserve player for the Rockets, especially in light of the absences of >> Tracy McGrady due to injury. He had a streak of hitting at least one three-pointer in 37 straight games that season, making several game-clinching shots late in games. “Luther will bring us a prototype combo guard that can both handle the ball and shoot with tremendous proficiency. This is a positive step for the team,” Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. Head earned Consensus Second Team All-America honors and made the NCAA Chicago Regional and Final Four All-Tournament Teams as a senior and was named First Team All-Big Ten by the media and the league coaches, also a finalist for the Wooden and Rupp awards. He currently holds school records for career NCAA Tournament games played (14) and points scored (162), and finished collegiate career as the school’s 19th all-time leading scorer with 1,295 points.

Yeah they have Conley, Jaric, Wilks, now Felton. Don't know why they would trade Gasol away, their best center :P Conley ain't gonna be happy! (Hey, that gave me an idea for an article!)

Hedonist wrote:In a homegame? Makes you wonder how realistic this game is.. :cheeky:

It's just that I don't use Hedo a lot, I try to focus the scoring on Howard, Lewis from a mid-range shooting, the same with Lee (he's a beast, he shoots really well) and Nelson on assists, also Pietrus, I don't like Hedo very much. Most probably, I will use him as trade bait.
