http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... mip_award/Turns out the Most Improved Player award still exists after all - surprisingly going to Danny Granger. And here we thought it was a two man race between Rondo and Harris. Him being in Italy explains the lateness.
Not sure if I support the selection. His PER shot up, but so did his usage. His win share's didn't go up that much thanks to him missing 15 games due to injury. Very interesting selection. I remember earlier in the year him saying he would probably be snubbed.

Weird. NBA.com hasn't mentioned anything about this award yet. It's funny how realgm has the news before the NBA.
At first I thought this was a two man race between Granger and Harris, but the way Rondo has been playing lately must be taken into considerations. I thought his regular season stats improvement wasn't as impressive as those of Harris, but if this award went to Rondo instead then it would have been a good decision too. I'd rather give it to either Rondo or Harris though, eventhough their stats didn't improved as much as Granger's their performances were really spectacular.

Hmm, I thought Devin Harris would have it. Obviously Granger's stats are very, very good but he already had a terrific 07-08 season where he averaged around 19 points and 7 boards a game as Indy's first option.

Actual source:
http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2009/0 ... y_for.htmlAlready discussed this back in the "pick the award winner thread" where everyone else apparently just did predictions.
The real question is how many players received votes.

I didn't expect Granger winning MIP, but he had good season after all. Although considering that Rondo was leading 62 win team and that Harris made bigger improvement in individual performance, this decision makes less sense.

When has the MIP award ever made sense?

Granger and Harris both improved in stats big time so I guess they just gave it to Granger for his numbers being improved bit more than Harris's.
As for Rondo, I don't think he really had that much chance. Just look at his numbers. He improved in almost every categories in stats, but no significantly big improvement in any of the category to be considered a MIP.

I picked Harris, so I missed out on that one. 22/26

Never knew inserting a table in this forum is that complicated. I'd never be able to do it for a large piece of data.

Now you know why most people here hate bringing up stats.
