Sixers fuming over Harris' buzzer beater

76ers Still Crying Foul Over Devin's Shot

The 76ers still haven't gotten over the game-winning heave that Nets point guard Devin Harris was credited with on Monday night.

Andre Iguodala hit one of two free throws to give Philadelphia a 96-95 lead, but Harris won the game for New Jersey with a half court heave that was reviewed by officials before it was confirmed.

"I thought a lot was going on for 1.8 seconds," said Iguodala. "I thought for sure it wasn't good, and I still don't think it was good."

"It was no good -- we all know that," said Andre Miller. "But you can't sit here and argue it, because of the consequences. It's over now.

"But still, the game was ours and it was pretty much taken from us."

Iguodala even feels as though Harris got away from traveling.

"That was another issue, too," said Iguodala. "There were so many things that went on in a small amount of time for that shot to be good."

It's damn close, but it looks like he got it off just in time and it was obviously scrutinised at length by the officials working the game; situations like this are the reason the instant replay rulings were implemented, after all. It sucks to be beaten that way but looking at that replay, in my opinion the Sixers are coming off as sore losers.

it's a legit shot, got it off in time and he didnt travel. you can dribble if the ball is blocked back into your hands, he landed on one foot and just flung it without stepping.

They are whinnying about nothing

It was clearly a good shot, they showed several freezed frames on TV where the ball was out of his hand and the light wasn't on yet.
Still I can understand the Sixers' players, it has to be really frustrating to lose a game that way. And I bet all those who deny that it was good, just simply wish it wasn't.
I think everybody has been in that situation that you know you're not right but you stand to your opinion because you wish it wasn't that way.

True, it's a tough loss to swallow but in the face of all the replay evidence I think the sporting thing for the Sixers' players to do would be to stop complaining and move on. I admire their solidarity and standing by one another but like I said in my first post, in this case they're coming off as sore losers.

No matter how I look at it, Harris got it off in time. Maybe the Sixers should learn how to use youtube..

The right call would have been a foul.

I agree, a foul should have been called on this. Awesome buzzer beater though.

Wouldn't that be a jumpball?

No doubt Harris released the shot in time, but the whole process seemed it took more than 1.8 seconds, hence questionable clock start time. I think that's what Iguo is crying about, "did the clock start as soon as the ball touched Harris?". Fisher's 0.3 second shot was amazing but I think this beats it.

that shot won't put nets in the playoffs either so just give it to them.

Philly should accept this one and move on. Devin Harris becomes the new Net hero now and for their future.
A miracle shot indeed. If the refs called a jumpball with that and then he hit that shot that would be more controversy.

No jumpball, No foul, a clearly legit shot.. Nets win!

DAMN YOU MARK CUBAN, LOOK AT WHAT YOU GAVE UP!!!

The thing is, if they had called a foul then the Sixers could have just as easily lost due to it being a costly defensive blunder instead of simply having the misfortune to lose on a miraculous shot.

Not the first time. Nash then Harris. As soon as they left Dallas, they flourished to become one of the top guards in the NBA right away. It seems like bigger roles were what they needed. Something like that might not have been possible behind Dirk, Howard, Terry.

Nash left as an unrestricted free agent though, so it's not like Cuban sent him packing the same way he did Harris by electing to trade him for Kidd.

It's like .4, you can't do that many things in that short amount of time.

There's the benefit of the instant replay rule though, in both instances the tape was meticulously scrutinised so there's not really the doubt there used to be.

Yeah if they didn't have instant replay 76ers would've won

Re: Sixers fuming over Harris' buzzer beater

Sun Mar 01, 2009 10:25 am

No they wouldn't, the shot went in. And unless the referees waved the shot off - which they didn't - without instant replay the shot would not be contested and reviewed.

Woder why Iguodala keeps dening it he saw the replay I know so he's knows it was good

It probably goes back to what buzzy was saying:

Robert, given no one else will say it...let me.

Will you stop making useless posts? It's getting annoying to open a thread wanting to read something useful and seeing your posts. One liners can contribute, as long as it's got something to add. Don't do what you're doing, please?

Thanks.
