The IFF Tool Situation & History

Alright, there has been a lot of shit flinging going on in here about the iff tool and I want to clear up any speculation.

There are two Chinese groups, EGS and 2kCN. EGS used iffset, 2kCN uses a tool created by 3DM.

3DM is a hacker group, to my understanding. They made a crack and released the game in torrent form for the Chinese and other places where there are no disc copies for them to buy in person.

EGS used iffset, it obviously got leaked out, and that is that.

Now, 2kCN & Showfom. First off, pdub and I were going to buy this program back when iff_crack was trying to sell it. Too bad we were a couple weeks too late, he never responded to any emails. Showfom dropped around a buck fifty for the tool he has. It is bound in some Chinese copywrite shit and a year agreement with 3DM if I remember correctly. How do I know this? Well because I was trying to cooperate with him.
The first overall plan was that I could get the tool for the NLSC team, and we'd make duplicate posts on his site to encourage the English portion of it. Pdub backed out of it because he didn't agree with the terms. I still pushed for it like a cracky going after powdered sugar. The rule changed to just me and after getting showfom to trust me I was going to get the tool last night.
Around 1am last night for me I finally got the email with the tool. But I couldn't download it because gmail came up with that it was a virus. He also sent me a tutorial video in exe form (if any of you remember the Kazaa days, that pretty much means, don't fucking run it) and he gave a 2nd, non email link to the tool. I extracted it, tried running it, and blue screened. He sent an alternate this morning, and the same situation on both my laptop and vista desktop.

Why am I posting this? To inform you guys so when you go off on your tangents you don't sound like idiots. I don't know what was going on with showfom last night and this morning but I am taking that shit as a sign that I shouldn't try to make this tool work. I deleted it, so dont ask for it, and he has deleted the URL links.

There might just be a misunderstanding but I take pride in my virus-free-es-ness and I personally am not going to try for this tool again.

I believe he is still looking for someone to work with. But this is how I see it, he paid a lot of money for it, and if it isn't a virus, he should have the word on who can and can't use it and use it for the good of his own website if he wants. So don't demand for a public release, even if we all think that is what he should do.


The third tool is upcoming from our buddies at gamingaccess. Like pdub had said before, the general thought is that it will be a free tool and these guys have a good reputation in the PES & Fifa communities.

So there you go, flame on with my general knowledge. I am either going to go back to texmod or continue enjoying Live 09 and working on the PC mod.

Not to kick you in the face and nuts while you're in the ground or anything, but you should have listened to Pdub. I thought you're smarter than that Jao.

Nothing good comes out when money is involved in the unauthorized patching of a game, that makes it illegal. That's why patchers like you do it for free.

i felt humiliated by what they did
we built our forum and release all the patch for free, we did not get any money form anyone. the patch just make us feel better because it make the game more intersting, so we just make the patch for fun. there's no money! NO MONEY! NO BUSINESS！
maybe there is some misunderstanding in it, but fuck the money!
as xiaoju said, hope the new tool come soon.

shadowgrin, I still love you too, but remember, what was "expertise" with live? Courts, all because of Dahl and his sexiness. I wanted and still want to jump all over a stadium editor and get a procedure down for 3D editing, but yea, I should have thought it out more. pdub tried talking me out of it, but yea, I'm an idiot.


Side note: Know that showfom paid money for the tool, he wasn't charging me for it. Hopefully he will post here to explain the situation a bit more.

as u know, the iffset is the tool of EGS. our Programmer made it for EGS to make the patch.
but at that day, we noticed a person of 2KCN published OUR iffset and a instructions leaflet of iffset in OUR forum, all of

EGS was shocked...
we published a pronouncement to tell every the iffset is our own! but the 2KCN's people fight with us, they said the iffset

is form NLSC, then we came to the NLSC and saw a person released our iffset.... we are so angry...
so, at that time we know that our tool was leak, obviously without our permission.

we——EGS do not wanna monopolize the patch of 2k9,we will release the tool when it finished! we had the pronouncement on

our fouum to explain that at befor this event!
BUT! the iffset is not finished! it is a semi-finished tool! so it should't released!

from that event. as we see, the Programmer of our tools felt sad and he didn't keep work to finish the tool. i think his

heart was hurt...
so! we——EGS do not have the new tools yet! i am so disappointed about it.

sorry for quoting the long message.. but there ldc1024 stated the truth fair enough, so that's the reason why the iffset is something like still having the crash issues (when the iffset cant extract large amount of files from certain .iff), because its not finish yet. So ldc1024, do you mean that santa is somehow involved in those leaking? you mean he isn't supposed to release that one? yeah I think so, so he shouldn't have done that thing, because it aint finished yet. Sorry to EGS, people here in NLSC didn't know that, we thought santa have the right to release that one, so for sure that's also the reason why he haven't replied to the questions anymore regarding the crash thing of the iffset. And that's a really really bad thing for the developer of the iffset. If we had only knew that, he might still able to finish the tool, but since then we have to wait for others to create and continue developing a tool.

So that's what happens when a thief stole others' work. We supposed to have the "finished" tool if santa or anyone did never release that tool without permission.
Lets just wait for the things to be clear and for the final tool be released.

Just to put in my two cents. The only reason I didn't agree to the terms was because I probably won't be making many patches for nba 2k9 and I didn't want to give the guy any false hope. If I could get my hand on a tool that can edit the overlays I would try to figure out the file so I could make some ESPN or TNT overlays. The only thing I'm really interested in patching besides that is the Artificial Intelligence, the Audio, and getting created players their own IFF files.

If Showfom really did try to harm Jon's computer through a program he is so banned.

I talked to Jaosming and he said he did get some legit programs, but he had to install an update from microsoft.

Maybe it's a misunderstanding. Showfom has expressed interest in developing his english site, and he paid good money for the program. I don't think he would be malicious like that. I think with the drama that is happening around the development and release of programs, we tend to point the finger a little quickly because we all can't wait to get our hands on it and fully patch the game. Plus, why would Showfom send a virus when he is trying to network with him? He doesn't come off as that type of guy. That would of course ultimately ruin his reputation. Beta programs have problems, are unfinished, can crash, etc.

First of all let me thank you JAO for clearing that up. Second thank God for the co-operation between you guys and the gamingaccess site patchers they are my favorite site for PES patches they 've got great patchers and programmers (Stelios - Juce - Ariel) actually i don't know which one of them you are cooperating with but all of them are great now i'll keep my fingure crossed for a great nba2k9 editing tool which i hope to see soon.

Which reminds me, where the hell is Dahl. You and Pdub are already active in the early stages of patching 2K9, I hope Dahl joins in so the "three patching stooges" of the NLSC is in full force.
