You don't root for the enemy.

it's a game. nothing worth getting overly emotionally invested in.
I mean will the players of your favorite team ever cheer for you? lol.

Nothing wrong with being passionate about sports.

NYK needs a superstar like Kobe, so fans don't have to roof for the enemy. It's funny how they chant when the enemy's setting a record in their own town, but it's quite understandable...

But like I said, there were an abundance of Laker jerseys in the crowd. Pockets of Lakers fans could be responsible for the chant (or at least starting it).

Wow, only 144 points. Al Harrington got only blocked twice...oops...only six times.

I'm embarrassed over last night's game. Seriously.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Team 1 2 3 4 T
Knicks 29 36 30 32 127
Warriors 41 24 40 39 144

Where was D? I guess both teams enjoyed their own version of ASG since nobody from both teams is going to ASG.

On positive note, the Knicks scored 127 points and that's likely to get you a win in most of games.

Yeah, but they wont play against Golden State every night, good teams won't allow them to score 120 + points a game

Not with their lack of defense.

Chris Wilcox...another big man that cannot block shots. The Knicks badly need a good shotblocker. The are one of the worst teams in this category.

So now the deal is official .This is really good for the Knicks .

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Fri Feb 20, 2009 7:40 pm

Most people say the deals (WIlcox and Hughes) are good for NY but I have to disagree. Sure they are going to win a few more games this year, but the best case scenario is a 0-4 playoff run, while losing some more games would have increased their chances to get a higher draft pick. And they still haven´t adressed the most important point, gettin grid of Curry and/or Jeffries so that they have the room to resign Nate and/or Lee.

So erik you're telling me you want the Knicks to tank? Donnie made it clear he wants to keep this team competitive. On top of that we need to do real good next year, the Utah Jazz have our unprotected 1st rounder..

Wilcox's contract is up at the end of the year, meaning immediate cap relief. Hughes' contract is up in 2010, in time for the LeBron and co. sweepstakes. If they work out well enough in the meantime so be it, but more importantly for the Knicks they don't interfere with the long term goal of snaring a high profile free agent next summer.

Exactly! If you're a Knick fan, you have to be happy with what Walsh is doing. Finally we have a GM who's thinking long-term, getting us under the cap so we can make the big move in 2010. I doubt LeBron's coming to NY, but Wade and Bosh would be sweet enough for me.

Larry Hughes might also have his playing career resurrected playing in D'Antoni's offense.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:01 pm

If nothing else, he could position himself for another decent payday somewhere. Unless everything really clicks with him, I personally don't think he should be part of the Knicks' long term plans especially when the money he's likely to demand could potentially be spent signing a higher profile player in 2010 (or maybe two, depending on who's available and interested).

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Feb 23, 2009 6:45 pm

Larry Hughes is a bad, bad outside shooter though, which isnt what you need to be when you're in a Mike D'Antoni offence.

As a basketball fan, it's really sad to see how badly Layden & Thomas raped NY. It's been so long since they've been decent and as a basketball fan I'm really happy Walsh is making some sane moves.

Yep, now you feel there's hope(even though I don't like D'Antoni). Knicks will struggle again next season before things turn around in 2010.

Man I wonder how the Knicks fan's are gonna feel if Marbury wins a championship

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sat Feb 28, 2009 10:36 pm

What a difference a year makes: from doom-and-gloom (and rightfully so) to a far more positive outlook. So much of the Knicks' future is still up in the air and based on what-ifs and hopes that 2010 will yield a high profile free agent but even so it's impressive the way Walsh has been able to turn things around and seems to have the team headed in the right direction before he's even spent one full season with the team.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Walsh has done a great job getting rid of Isiah's garbage. If he can find a sucker to take Eddy Curry, we'll be in great shape, salary-cap wise.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sun Mar 01, 2009 1:05 am

I wonder if there's a chance that Curry will opt out. I suppose he'd be a fool to give up the kind of guaranteed money he's set to make if he doesn't but if he doesn't figure into the Knicks' plans and can't crack the rotation for more than a few minutes per game, I wonder if there's a chance he'd take his chances trying to latch on elsewhere. If nothing else, they'd probably have an easier time negotiating a buyout with him than they did with Marbury.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sun Mar 01, 2009 1:44 am

Eddy Curry shouldn't even be in the NBA. He doesn't have the heart and desire to be a quality player. Can't even make the effort to stay in shape.
