What does REC mean when playing online?

Does anybody know what this means? Does it mean reception (how laggy the game will be)?

I think it means record.

if you are talking about the REC next to the green, yellow, or red bars then yes you are right, it stands for reception and gives you an indication on how good the connection is between you and the other player(s)
