Multisample Anti-Aliasing, you can find a complete description in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multisample_anti-aliasing

I would reccomend to leave it off unless you have a really powerful v-card, i.e. a directx 10, shader model 4, fully capable card.

In a nutshell, MSAA (or Anti Aliasing for that matter) reduces the jaggies on the edges of 3d objects, so the higher the AA the less jaggies there is (but personally, i find it hard to see the difference from 4xAA and above) but this of course takes a performance hit esp on slower cards esp those with low bandwidth and small vRAM

ultimately its up to you, what settings you like to play on and what is your tolerance on framerates, for me id rather have smooth frames ove high image quality.

anyway here are screenshots using diff MSAA settings (MSAA:8x & Quality:2 ; MSAA:4x & Quality 2 ; MSAA 2x & Quality n/a ; MSAA Off & Quality n/a)
im using highest in game settings and forced 16xAF via nVIDIA control panel

can you tell which one is which?

personally i cant see much difference between 8x and 4x although i havent tried MSAA options via the nVIDIA control panel, i can notice the difference with Anisotropic Filtering Off and ON though (will post screens later)

for me a little AA is good but AF is more important as I cant stand blurry images when AF is off

can you tell which ones are with AF at 16x and which one is OFF?
