"Never underestimate the heart of the Champs"

How ironic was that. I was just about to say how the 95 rockets came from the 6th seed in one of the toughest conferences to win the championship. Now I know they added Drex(ler)

, but this Celtics team has to be the most criticised team 20 games above .500 in the history of basketball.

They need Robert Horry, he'll get them another ring

Fueled by emotion, Celtics running on emptyThoughts?
I think it's an interesting suggestion, that emotional/mental exhaustion is playing a role as much as any issues with their roster or their style of play. That blowup with KG and Big Baby a few weeks back could be an example of that, and that went down while they were winning. Not to take away from their opponents or disregard the hole that Posey left but it does seem possible that part of the problem could be mounting frustrating, the team too much on edge.

The latest losing streak is over with a win over the Raptors in Toronto, edging them ahead of everyone else in total wins though the slide has dropped them to the third seed on a tiebreaker with the Magic.

That an interesting article, but to say the Celtics only run on emotion is a disservice to how good their players are. Ray Allen, Peirce, Garnet, they all are capable of beating teams with their talent. Sure the emotion and pride helps, but I think people are looking past their problems on the offensive end and trying to make it about effort and defense.

I think they could be right, last year they won it all because of Allen,Pierce and Garnett but also because the supporting cast played at 110%. They played with their best effort, that was (and is) the reason why they are so good on D. The reason for this effort was the example of Garnett. But you can´t hold such a level all the time, you tend to get used to things (like KG´s acts) and don´t get as hyped anymore.
And it´s pretty normal to let some games slip away, the important thing is that they play as hard as last year in the playoffs.

If they rattle off another 10 wins in a row and keep up that pace with scattered losses here and there, I think the rough patch will be quickly forgotten and something else will grab everyone's attention, elsewhere in the league if not in Boston.

Well, they did pretty well last year without Big Shot Bob, and they were pretty much invicible this season, until that bump in the road a couple of weeks ago...They'll be fine, I still see them on top of any other team at this point.

Haha oops, my bad, sorry guys

Agreed, there's quite a few teams that I'm sure would like to be 32-9 right now. They've won their last three, as I said if they get on another roll those couple of weeks will be quickly forgotten. They wouldn't be the first defending champions to struggle for a stretch only to turn things around.

This post has jinx written all over it, I know, but the Celtics have now won eight in a row, still have the most wins of anyone in the league (that one extra loss putting them just behind the Cavs and Lakers) and have had some decisive victories as of late. They still have a long way to go to repeat and they still have their flaws but it would appear they're not done yet and those struggles are getting to be in the rear-view mirror.

I watched the game earlier and it was just brutal, what an impressive win.
Boston and LA remain THE teams to beat at this point.

I caught the game against Miami last week and while they did stumble a bit, the Heat deserve a bit of credit for making a couple of spirited runs mostly when at least two of the Big Three were out of the lineup and barring foul trouble, that's not going to happen much in a close game or during a playoff series. Still a long way to a repeat but perhaps they've righted the ship.
Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:32 pm
Well, they're still the best team in the NBA untill someone knocks them down in the playoffs. It's not really surprising to see them play well again. After all, they had historic winning streak this year.
Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:04 pm
They certainly slumped though, it was more than mere bad luck that led to them losing seven out of nine. It's still not enough to write them off though especially with the latest surge. If they don't repeat I still see them coming very close to it, bowing out in either the Conference or NBA Finals if they do come up short.

You guys are crazy, the slump just proves they suck and that this is LeBron's year. Stop arguing with my basketball IQ.

Shut up Jackal. I'll Foe you if don't stop that nonsense.

Are you arguing with my posting IQ now? Are you really? I am the Lebron of these forums. Andrew is like Paul Pierce...totally unraveling.

You can always count on the Toronto Raptors to help opposing teams get on track.
Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:47 am
Only if they're good enough to begin with. They did recently aid the Bulls on the path to another lottery pick though, which given their roster could be seen as an act of kindness.

Anyone else notice Yohances absence after the Celts starting winning again? Probably jacking off to anime porn again
