Check their player card to see what is bothering them and why their morale is low. If you have someone who is labeled a starter adn they are playing off the bench, you might as well bite the bullet and make them a sixth man or role player. It won't help your morale at first, but hopefully they will settle in. I get rid of those players who cause problems in team chemistry. I had Vlad Radmanovic coming off the bench and he was a whiny little bitch about his playing time, so I gave him more. He didn't perform much better so I shipped his ass out.

See, trading them whiny bitches is the way to go.

I'd like to know one thing. Is it just me or players in human's team are much harder to satisfy? Most my players are satisfied, but ecstatic/overjoyed are only 2 (Stuckey - role player, McGee - prospect) while when I looked at other teams, almost all players are ecstatic/overjoyed and their morale is maxed out, whatever their role is. I understand that starters and stars of the teams that get many minutes can be very happy, but I've seen guys like Rashard Lewis, Kevin Durant and Amare Stoudemire that were ecstatic with their 6th man role. Many players with bench warmer role that play very rarely are also extremely happy.
Also, I was interested in getting Brent Barry on my team. In Houston he had "role player" role and didn't play very much, but he was very happy. When I traded him to my team, I left the same role, he's getting pretty similar minutes and he's anxious, his morale is around 50.

It might have to do with their loyalty and their personality. If a player is loyal and thier personality is laid back, they might be less likely to put up a fuss if their role is changed. Just a theory.

Someone Unpredictable might be messing up with your team's morale. Just guessing.

Rather not. In my team only one guy is unpredictable (Anthony) and he's content right now.

For me Eric Gordon always has his morale dropping. Even in my first season, his morale dropped alot. At the start of the second season, I changed him to a starter, his morale went up, but I think it was premature because I traded Camby to the Warriors for Stephen Jackson, and now Gordon comes off the bench and his morale is getting lowered. I try to alternate who I start every night. Al Thornton doesn't put up much of a fuss, so I move Jackson to the SF and give Gordon starter minutes. Gotta love the alternate rotation feature so I don't have to change the rotation manually everytime I want to start Gordon.

I think changing their role is the way to go but also giving them enough time on the court usually works too.
I have a question if anyone knows: what's the significance of player's character type to his morale: expressive, lay back etc
P.S. Happy New Year!

It's similar with Brandon Roy for me. When I acquired him, he was my 6th man and he was very unhappy about it, although he was still getting ~30 minutes or more. After I traded Iverson away, he's back a starter and his morale improved a little, but he's still "restless" and says he wants more playing time while getting 30+ minutes and playing pretty well.
BTW, does the performance on the court affect players' morale?

I found also what works is just changing the description of their position. For example: keep Roy as Sixth man but change the description of what he's gonna do on the team. Sometimes their morale improves just by doing that. So you can keep him still as 6th man but at the same time improve his morale.

I know, that's what I did with Jerryd Bayless and his morale improved a bit. With Roy it didn't work, but even if it did, the improvement in his morale would be still very little. But after Roy returned to the starting lineup and played there for some time with 30+ minutes per game, he's finally satisfied.

Probably your best option is to trade him away then. His value on the trade market may be still high and perhaps you can get someone really good in exchange, since making trades in 2k9 is pretty easy.

McGrady for Kobe. Those superstars like to play 3 or more quarters a game, so 13 minutes out of 20 may not be cutting it.

Probably 3 quarters or more is not necessary. In my association, I play all my starters (Roy, J-Rich, Melo, Sheed, Bynum) 20 (or slightly more) minutes per game on 8 minute quarters and all are satisfied or delighted. It's getting hard to make also the bench players happy since after all the trades I have done my team is very strong.
Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:54 am
if all your players would always be happy, the game would be less interesting.
Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:44 pm
Well, that's what happens in almost all of CPU teams.
