New '08-09 dynasty

Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:04 am

Hello forum! I've done a few dynasties in the past but tend to either (a) get bored by easily winning or (b) getting impatient with such an awful team that I skip ahead to the next season and then problem (a) rears up. I've two things to consider and wanted to get some feedback while I wait for a new hard drive for my computer:

1) should I use NBA Live 07 or 08? I've been playing on 08 so long (as I couldn't find 07) that I forget if the difference in gameplay is really that large.
2) Which team should I use? I'm looking for a fringe playoff team that could realistically compete though certainly would be considered an underdog and lack an absolute dynamo of a player (i.e. Kobe, Wade, LeBron).

Teams I've been considering:
i) Toronto - aside from Bosh, don't have too much going on. Fun reserves in Humphries and Ukic.
ii) Clippers - Nice starting rotation but injuries would decimate the team. No bench whatsoever.
iii) Golden State - Fun run 'n' gun team with plenty of talented shooters.
iv) Milwaukee - good shooter in Redd (who I'd consider trading away) and nice role players at just about all positions.
v) Washington (without Arenas) - they certainly wouldn't be as bad as they are doing in real life but with Caron and Antawn have some firepower.
vi) New York - a fun roster that isn't performing too poorly.

Look forward to hearing from you all. With all luck I'll be getting my new hard drive this/next week.

I'd say either Toronto or Milwaukee.

Toronto have O'Neill and Bosh, plus some decent players in Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Jason Kapono etc.

I like Milwaukee too because of Redd and Jefferson.

But teams also have an Aussie on them :) are you using updated rosters?

If it's more realistic stats you're after, then I'd suggest NBA Live 07. NBA Live 07 patched is less of a frustrating experience than NBA Live 08 in my opinion.
