Goaltending and rebound bug?

Postby Leander on Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:12 am

I know what goaltending is and think that there is a bug in the game. Sometimes a cpu player takes a shot, the ball hits the rim (e.g. it goes in and out) and I jump to grab the rebound but get called for goaltending. I happens approx. once per game. Are there situations in which the ball has already hit the rim and it is still goaltending?

I rarely get a rebound bug, too. The ball hits the top of the backboard, does not fall down behind it but bounces on it once or twice and falls down in front of it. Normally, the game should be stopped, shouldn´t it? The game continued instead, the cpu team just grabbed the rebound and scored.

Yeah, i hate that. Happens to me a lot. I don't know if there's a fix for that though.

Yes,that is why I turned goaltening off in the options. It doesn't happen that often in the games anyway...

I'm always too quick at attempting a rebound, resulting in a goaltending call. Most of the time the ball is going to be a miss anyways. I'll try turning goaltending off. The goaltending thing has been broken for a couple years now, as it's a recurring problem in each game. I think the ball physics have something to do with it, as shots are softer than they should be.

Yeah, 2k8 has the same problem, i think i had goaltendings on 4 or 5 consecutive defensive possessions with Oden in one game. That got me real mad. Anyway, I didn't turn it off, just tried to rebound with positioning instead of jumping for it.

How about basket interference (offensive goaltending) in 2k9? From time to time it's pretty bad in 2k8, the ball just rolls on the rim and instead of a tip-in or put-back I get a interference violation. Bwaah.

It's not that bad. If you try to tip it in too quick you will get called for it. I usually go for tipins instead of rebounds, mainly because I can't keep my finger off the aggressive modifier.

I call it turbo, but it is in fact called the aggressive modifier by 2k.

do you have big problems getting a correct amount of offensive boards?
I feel that the players of my team controlled by the CPU doesn't do a good job getting boards, unlike the players of the CPU team.
Here are my sliders :
Player : Off rebound 100, Def rebound 40
CPU : Off rebound 80 (to make my players controlled by CPU rebound better), Def Rebound 30

With theses sliders, in all star mode, the CPU team gets slightly too many offensive boards (sometimes near 20), whereas my team very rarely get more than 10 (mostly around 5, with 10 min quarter game).
Maybe other gameplay sliders can interfer like Hands or Vertical.

I really suck at it, personally. Only when I am going hard for offensive rebounds myself do I actually get any. Even then, the cpu adapts pretty quick and starts to fast break more. My offensive rebounding slider and the cpu defensive rebounding slider are lower than yours.
