Unable to run NBA 2k9 at ultra high player models smoothly

I am currently running the game at 1280x768 with the AA at 2 and everything on high. The game runs very smooth and there is no tearing. If I bump up any of the settings from here I get terrible tearing. This happens even if I turn on vsync.

I am really confused by this because I am able to run games like Fallout 3, POP, COD 4, and Tomb Raider Underworld at maxed settings at 1900x1200 (which is my LCD's native resolution) with my specs.

My specs are listed below, any idea what could be causing this? All drivers are up to date.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz processor
BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB video card
OCZ 4GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel RAM
Windows Vista ultimate 32 bit

In my game I turned my player details down along with my resolution. But turning the player details down really did the trick.

stupid crowd lower it to medium it looks good
