I thought the 22 assists were a typo at first, but damn man.... So impressive (Y) Do you change the appearance of Perko because I thought he was bald last season and he has hair now? He's #32 right?

You have a Liam and an Axel. Any Martti's in the free agent pool? :P

So far, great start, especially with Rose's 20-20 game. I hope Donelly gets a bit more playing time as the season goes on though.

He might have a better chance of finding an Andrew in the free agent pool. :P

I can prob. do this all day. :D

I really like how Howard is coming from the bench and dominating though. :P Keep it up.

I do believe he was outSTANding in that game ;)

Dwight's doing a good job in that Blake role. I'm hoping he'll play on next season so he can surpass Parish and LeBron.

Andrew wrote:Nice outing for Rose there. You look to be in top form early on, hoping for a repeat. (Y)

It's a bit hard to know what I should be doing with Rose. I drive and kick a lot with him, because otherwise I'll get blocked 9 times out of 10. I think he's still capable of a brilliant game every now and then though.

It's pretty crazy looking back on it. He continues a tradition of outlandish games by role players in my dynasty (eg: DMDR 50 point game last season).

Unfortunately I have no say in Perko's appearance; the game completely takes care of that. It's a nice feature, but it's one that's gotten kind of ridiculous in some cases (like when T-Mac had Big Ben hair). Number 32 will always be Perko's number in this dynasty :)

That particular spelling is probably going to be hard to come by, but I almost traded for a guy named "Marty Jung" once. His ratings were rubbish, but I thought it might have been cool to get him for a recurring NLSC theme. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get an Andrew... but remember, I've already had an Andrew:

I'd probably be on the hunt for a Kenny, Ken or Kenneth next.

5 Game Summary

The Nuggets continued to roll with another 5 wins this summary. This extended their current streak to 12 games, as they easily accounted for Memphis, Utah and Golden State. New Orleans and the Los Angeles Clippers were the only two teams that were able to finish within single digits of the Nuggets.

The feature is the 5th game against the Clippers:

Clippers Hunted Down in LA

The Denver Nuggets kept their winning streak alive with a 79-70 win over the Clippers in Los Angeles. Steven Hunt led the Nuggets, as scored a season high 18 points to go with 8 assists. Taylor MacKenzie had a slightly off game, but still managed to contribute 17, while Dwight Howard (12 points, 8 rebounds) and Stan Griffiths (10 points, 10 rebounds) both offered handy contributions in the centre position.

For the Clippers, Dickey Freeman was the high point man of the game, scoring 21. But he had little help, as Curt McNamara and Charles Woods were the only two to put up any resistance against the Nuggets, scoring 12 each.

This win is the 12th straight for the Denver Nuggets.

November 2024 Review

After starting the season with 1 win and 2 losses, the Nuggets have been practically flawless since then. It's kind of strange that Denver don't have a single player in the MVP race, but that's indicative of their team play, as their deep roster has provided star performances by different players at different times.

Even though it's early in the season, it's currently the Nuggets championship to lose.

5 Game Summary

For those who were waiting for the Nuggets to lose a game... you'll have to wait until at least the next 5 game summary - as they once again went 5-0 in this one. Did anyone get even close to beating the Nuggets? Well, Charlotte were within 14, while Phoenix were within 15... but thats as close a it got, with the other wins coming at an average margin of almost 23 points.

With that in mind, I thought I'd go with the closest game. I'm pretty sure at least one regular will be happy with the star performer:

Benchwarmer Mauls Bobcats

Image

The Nuggets picked up their 15th straight win, easily taking care of the Bobcats by 82-68. While the winning has become a regular occurence, one surprise that came from the game was the performance of Liam Leopold. In just his second game of the season, he scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to be the Performer of the Game. His extra minutes came thanks to some early foul trouble for Stan Griffiths. Taylor MacKenzie played second fiddle once again, scoring 19, while Vince MacMahon also provided a spark off the bench, scoring 14.

Ben Connolly was by far the best for the Bobcats, scoring 26, while Mordecai Durand was the only other double figure scorer with 13 points.

Denver's depth was once again on display tonight, as someone who occupies an IR position had a breakout performance. This is sure to create a welcome dilemma in the already stacked centre rotation of the Nuggets.

Liamsanity!

Just when Liam looked like he wasn't going to get any minutes, he has managed to jump his way up the rotation. Following on his huge performance against the Bobcats, he had 22 points and 5 rebounds against the Heat. All the sudden, he could wind up being a prize asset in the upcoming free agency.

Another Diamond
Image
It's been either diamonds or rocks for Derrick Rose this season. 31 points, 6 rebounds, 14 assists and 3 steals against New York is pretty damn good though.

The Number This Week is: 31

Along with Derrick Rose, Taylor MacKenzie had a 31 point game as well this summary. His was in the first game against the Phoenix Suns.

Liam was a nice surprise. He's built like a wing player, but plays the centre position, so I'm not sure how long he'll keep it up for, but he's definitely fun to control.

It's fun being able to make personalities for the generated players... although, at season 16, it's be nice to be able to either make a draft class or to edit the appearance of some of them.

Poor Lawrence

His overall has declined to 69, but he's had the odd game or two where he's been incredible. He's probably going to have a veteran role once either MacMahon or Palmer step up as a solid point guard backup.

5 Game Summary

The streak continued through this 5 game summary, as the Nuggets extended it to 22, which is 2 away from the franchise record set in the 2017-2018 season. Denver easily accounted for Dallas, New Orleans and Minnesota, while San Antonio provided a challenge that the Nuggets hadn't seen in several games. However, an up-and-coming Portland team managed to stretch Denver to OT, in a game that saw an unlikely candidate score the Nuggets first 50 point game of the season. Here it is:

Portland Blazed in OT

Image

The Nuggets managed to hold on against a spirited Portland Trail Blazers, winning by 120-113 in overtime. Taken last in the NBA Draft, Jim Simon showed explosive skill beyond his draft position, tallying an incredible 57 points and 10 rebounds. The 6'10 shooting guard only recently played his way into the rotation, coming off a 28 point performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Taylor MacKenzie provided solid backup for the mercurial rookie, scoring 21. Stan Griffiths (13 points) and Dwight Howard (11 points, 13 rebounds) both had solid games at the pivot, while Dennis Anderson scored his 10 points in the overtime period.

Dilbert Roy was the high point man for Portland, scoring 27. Bert Hofmann was arguably their best player, with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Wyatt Walsh also tallied 22. Fred Gibson provided another double-double (18 points, 15 rebounds) for the visitors, while Thompson scored 11.

With their streak at 22 games, the Nuggets now have a dilemma. Do they start Jim Simon off his incredible performance? Or do they stick with the more defensively reliable Dennis Anderson?

December 2024 Review

The Nuggets were looking to have a perfect December, but like most good things, the winning streak eventually came to an end at 22, thanks to an overtime win to the Clippers. Denver also fell short against the Lakers in one of the games that followed, but apart from those two blemishes, the Nuggets looked just about unstoppable.

The three stars, Stan Griffiths, Borislav Perko and Taylor MacKenzie all had superb games in December, but the big talking point towards the end of the month was the emergence of Jim Simon. The last pick of the 2024 NBA Draft was the first Nuggets player to reach 50 in a game this season. His stats of 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game were good enough to win him the West Rookie of the Month and possibly put him towards the top of the Rookie of the Year discussions.

To cap off a great month for the Mile High City, Borislav Perko found his way back into MVP consideration. Can the Nuggets legend earn his third MVP trophy?

5 Game Summary

As reported in the monthly, the Nuggets streak ended at 22, thanks to the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers were able to take a game off the Nuggets too. Apart from those two games though, it was pretty smooth sailing.

Since I like a good revenge game, the second game of the back-to-back against the Clippers is the feature:

Nuggets Get Revenge

Image

Denver got one back against the Clippers, winning by 102-76 in second of the back-to-back. Stan Griffiths was the catalyst for Denver picking up the split, as he had 26 points and 11 rebounds to be the best on court. Jim Simon continued his impressive rookie campaign with 20, while Steven Hunt (14) and Taylor MacKenzie (11) both provided minor contributions.

For the Clippers, Dickey Freeman had their only double-double, with 22 points and 11 assists. Curt McNamara scored 17, while Charles Woods contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Manfred Dale was the last of their double digit scorers with 13.

After a grueling overtime loss in the previous encounter, the Nuggets left nothing to chance this time around.

Trade News: The Sly Move - Denver Sends Russo to Utah

In one of the more unusual moves in recent history, the Denver Nuggets traded seldom-used swingman Vincenzo Russo and both their 2025 picks to the Utah Jazz. In return, they received Utah's 2025 first round pick and power forward Sly Mitchell.

With the Jazz near the bottom of the Western Conference, the pick is projected to be a top 5 at this stage. Reports however have speculated that the Jazz have a preference towards the free agency, as opposed to what looks to be another weak draft class.

Denver gets: A lottery pick and more depth at the power forward position. Mitchell's contract, which is below one million, comes off the books this upcoming free agency.

Utah gets: A late first and second round pick (if Denver keeps going like this, the 30th and 60th pick) and more wing depth. Vincenzo Russo's mid-level-contract also comes off the books in the upcoming free agency.

--------------------------------

I never thought in a million years that this trade would actually go through. This was kind of an experiment to see what the engine would let me get away with. I won't make a habit of ripping off teams in the future, since I don't really agree with it. To me, this and Stan will be seen as levelers for my horrid sim results
