Wow, congratz on bringing another ship to Denver. I would play an ant sized violin for LBJ, but my happiness won't allow me to lol

Random fact: I wanted to change LeBron's name to "LeBron B King" if I won the 2022 championship. Aside from not winning, I don't think the game would let me do that anyway.

This brings up a good point. Just curious, do you know if the game lets you change the names of the generated rookies/players (I know you can't change the names of the real ones)? If not, what can you modify on them?

It doesn't, but that's something they should have in future Lives.

Awesome to see you back on top after such a fantastic season. :) That was certainly an interesting Finals with Blake Griffin ehaving quite the last hurrah and more triple doubles from Perko. Griffiths was a little quiet early on in the series but it was nice to see him cap things off as the top performer in Game 5.

That's a good question. I think Tim Duncan did it in his sophomore season, but I'm guessing you'd have to go back a number of years if that person does exist.

Andrew? Can you answer this one?

Magic Johnson is the only one to do it to date.

I thought it was a nice way to end the season, with Stan doing the damage in game 5. The series really belonged to T-Mac and Blake (and to a lesser extent, Perko), but it was definitely Stan's season, so it was fitting.

If I didn't hate the Lakers as much as I do, than I probably would have remembered that one

Lamrock wrote:I take a week off the forums and you're the champions again!

Great work winning it all. Nicely done balancing minutes between three marquee PF's. The Griffiths era is off to a great start. It's also satisfying to see LeBron finish without a ring - even with a stint in Denver.

Yeah, my posting is rather unpredictable. I'm back from a little hiatus myself.

In the end I pretty much played a 3 big rotation. I alternated Blake and Stan at centre for most of the time, with Perko getting the bulk of the minutes at power forward. I tried to never put Blake and Stan together, because they felt a bit too much like the same player. So when Perko went off, a lot of the time I'd give Axel Donnelly those minutes. If there was ever foul trouble in the centres, Liam Leopold could pick up those minutes. Anyway, I was happy with how my rotation panned out.

I felt really conflicted about having LeBron on the team, I will admit that. I wouldn't consider myself a hater because he's fun to watch on the court, but his demeanor is very off putting. He was also one of the most fun players to control as well.

Martti. wrote:So, that's it? No 'real' players in the league left?

Great season, turning that miserable season into a championship. You did good by signing Blake, listening to your followers really pays off. Griffiths better not have a sophomore slump. (Y)

I'm posting an article about that real soon :)

I always wanted to sign Blake, but I never thought he'd fit into my system the way he did. Turned out to be something I was very glad to be convinced into.

And hopefully Stan's sophomore season is different to Taylor MacKenzie and George Power.

Mavs4Life wrote:Best turn around ever, I feel bad for Virtual LeBron haha.

Don't feel bad... while we're happy about him failing now, we all have to go back to our lives of not being Virtual LeBron ;)

Axel. wrote:Nicely done on another championship. (Y) Blake Griffin and T-Mac just had outrageous scoring numbers, seems like they took care of business very easily.

LeBron retiring without a ring is pretty hilarious, especially when you consider the fact that he was in the league for more than two decades.

Both players were incredible. I was thinking about launching some promos along the lines of "No Taylor, No Title" and "No Blake, No Bling"... perhaps in a retrospective post down the line.

I could just imagine Skip Bayless having an absolute field day if LeBron went for 21 seasons without a title.

qfrmcpt310 wrote:Wow, congratz on bringing another ship to Denver. I would play an ant sized violin for LBJ, but my happiness won't allow me to lol

Thanks man, number 8 is any less sweet, that's for sure.

LeBron isn't exactly a sympathic character

I think they should only do it for generates though. I'd imagine that the ability to change real players names would create issues of slander from people who are a little less responsible. I could see a lot of LeBron haters changing his jersey to read "Frozen 1"

The Final Four

ImageImageImageImage

With Blake Griffin, DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James and Tyreke Evans all calling it quits, there are only 4 real players left. Will 25-26 be the season the NBA is completely overtaken by generated players?

Of the Final Four, two will sign for Denver; one player who has played for them before and another who hasn't.

The answer to this teaser will be up soon.

Perko Signs For Two More

Borislav Perko agreed to a two year contract reportedly worth 22 million in total.

After the worst season of his career, Perko got back to All-Star form in 23-24, and even won the All-Star Game MVP for the third time.

In other free agency news, both Simon Sampson and Bartholomew Myer will test the free agency waters, while Ollie Stearn was waived.

Big Draft Night For Denver

Denver will have 5 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. It's believed they have their eye on Julian Chandler, a swingman with comparisons to Taylor MacKenzie, as well as Lawrence Griffiths, Stan's older brother.

The most recent pick acquisition was the 24th pick from Boston, which the Nuggets received in exchange for cash considerations.

The Nuggets 5 Draft Picks

#22 (via Chicago)
#24 (via Boston)
#30
#55 (via Boston)
#60

---------------------

To be honest, I have no idea how I got that 1st round Boston pick. I've looked through the thread and I can't find the instance. I'm thinking I got it in that trade for Vince, but if that was the case, I seriously ripped Boston off. Anyway, I'll just stick with the "cash considerations" story for that one :P

So, Perko is in for another ride, great. Your picks are going to be busts though. :P

KD and Rose are my bet.

Good that you were able to lock up Perko for two more. I'd say use those picks to get some player with experience in a package deal. Though you have been fortunate with those late picks (Jesus), but they haven't panned out in the long run.

Of course man, and I even won a ring for your boy, DMDR :)

Personally, I don't think any pick after #15 can be labelled a bust, but we'll see :P

You're 1 from 2 with that prediction.

With most of my rotation basically locked up, I only really need some spot fillers at the moment. Hopefully I can pick up a couple of surprises.

Less For More: Veteran Stars to Embrace Roles in Denver

Image

With both players in the backend of their careers, Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose accepted 1 year deals with the Denver Nuggets.

Dwight (Indiana) and Derrick (Milwaukee) were both starters last season, but are now willing to sacrifice their personal games to win a championship.

While Howard already won a championship with the Orlando Magic in 2010, many believe his ring collection is still a little light after 20 seasons in the NBA. After a season away from the Mile High City, he's now looking to support rising superstar Stan Griffiths and the Nuggets bid for a repeat title, as Indiana fell short in the Eastern Conference Finals to New Jersey.

For Derrick Rose, it's a different story. He's been the best player on the NBA's worst team for two seasons and now he's eager to get back to winning ways.

With both these signings, the Nuggets also waived second round pick Dominic Thomas.

I know they're probably 40 years old, but having those two as bench players is awesome.

Just wondering, have you ever had James Harden on your team?

Solid draft and great pickups in Howard and Rose. Hopefully it goes a little better with Howard this time. :)

Yeah, something along the lines of NBA 2K12's editable draft class facilities would be good.

I think Howard is 38, since he was straight out of high school. I'm hoping he can stick around for another season to surpass Robert Parish. Plus I'd love to keep him on my team as long as possible. Derrick Rose is going to be interesting though... I dunno how much I can rely on his jumpshot.

Harden spent the longest time on the free agency and I really regret not picking him up. He's probably my favourite from OKC, since Jeff Green left.

Cruzerr wrote:You got a ring to DeMar? Man, I love ya. I read a bit back now, seems like you had some good playoff games. :P

Yep, I even had a 50 point game with him too :)

You could say the playoffs was decent for me :P

I'm interested to see how Dwight goes in Blake's role. He still has a decent overall of 74, so I think he's going to really have an impact off the bench. Rose is also a nice veteran pickup; it'll be an interesting experiment to see how he plays with declined athleticism.

And yeah, I'd be for EA having an editable draft class.

That playoffs run was so fun. Blake and T-Mac were one hell of a two-punch.

I'd like to coin the term "V-Bron" if nobody else has

Injection of Youth: Meet the Nuggets' Rookies

Image

Left to right: Julian Chandler, Lawrence Griffiths, James Palmer and Jim Simon

During the dynasty, Denver have been known as an old team. Previous off-seasons saw them pick up players on the verge of retirement, such as Ben Wallace, Marcus Camby, Shaquille O'Neal, Andrew Bogut and the list goes on. While they picked up Dwight Howard, who's entering season number 21, and Derrick Rose, who's now in his 17th season, the general manager is now surrounding them with youth. Lawrence Griffiths (centre) and James Palmer (point guard) should both benefit from the veteran signings, as they will learn from two of the best as they enter the NBA. Julian Chandler on the other hand, gets to join the team with his childhood hero, Taylor MacKenzie.

Joining His Hero

Chandler has modelled his game off T-Mac... some would even suggest that he's emulating his look as well. Taken with the 19th pick of the draft by the Charlotte Bobcats, the Nuggets did a draft day deal, sending hustleman Timothy Ullrich and the 24th pick for Julian. From the same conference as Jesus Carlos... he even has the same initials, but that didn't deter the Nuggets from picking up the small forward from Cal State Fullerton.

Oh Brother!

Lawrence Griffiths was the other first round pick of Denver's, taken at number 24, after his brother Stan was drafted in 2023 at number 1. With Stan's almost-MVP season in 2023-2024, Lawrence enters the league with a lot of expectation, but he just needs to make his own name in his brother's city.

Another Ed Reed? Surely Not!

Much like Julian Chandler with Taylor MacKenzie, James Palmer's looks and game are very similar to former Nuggets player Ed Reed. With the 30th pick of the NBA Draft, James Palmer was chosen to fill a hole that Bartholomew Myer left behind. His minutes may be scarce at the start, with Derrick Rose now in Denver, but there's plenty of opportunities for him to develop.

Will College Success Convert?

Jim Simon is a 6'10 shooting guard who has NBA 3-point range, but scouts compared him to the cautionary tale of Adam Morrison, hence his demotion to the last pick of the NBA draft. Simon was a scoring machine for New Mexico, but he didn't play a whole lot of defense, which scares a lot of NBA teams away. He probably has the most to prove out of all the rookies in Denver, as he'll look to adapt his game to the NBA level.

All these rookies have one thing in common; they've all landed in an almost perfect situation. None of them are really expected to affect the currently water-tight Nuggets rotation, but they all have the opportunity to develop with the defending champions.

Prologue

The Denver Nuggets enter the 24-25 season in a familiar situation with different players. You know that the championship they won last season was the first without either Carmelo Anthony of J.R. Smith? It's a new era on the throne and the Nuggets will be looking to stay there as long as possible.

Both Borislav Perko and Taylor MacKenzie answered their critics, showing they've both lost nothing, while Stan Griffiths was the story of the 23-24 regular season. The almost-MVP-rookie broke records and dominated the league; but now he's a known entity. How will he do in his sophomore season? History says he will go into a slump, as that's what happened with Taylor MacKenzie and George Power, but he'll be looking to reverse that.

What will make this Nuggets side great is their bench. Dwight Howard comes in as a formidable replacement for the explosive Blake Griffin. Derrick Rose is an upgrade over the Nuggets previous third-string point guard Bartholomew Myer. How will these two acquisitions affect the game of reigning 6th man of the year, Vince MacMahon?

Will the Nuggets go on to dominate this season? Season 16 is coming up!

The 2024-2025 Denver Nuggets

The Starters
| Stan Griffiths | Borislav Perko | Dennis Anderson | Taylor MacKenzie | Steven Hunt |

The Bench
| Vince MacMahon | Dwight Howard | Derrick Rose | Julian Chandler | Axel Donnelly | Lawrence Griffiths | James Palmer |

IR
| Jim Simon | Vincenzo Russo | Liam Leopold |

I'd say so... it's pretty hilarious when NBA Live 10 does stuff like that. To prove how much of a Live 10 tragic I am, I actually had a dream that real players were coming back into my dynasty. I was getting excited over the possibility of signing Kosta Koufos

I'm such a dynasty geek.
