I'm thinking of going back to NBA Live 06, so we'll see. Stay tuned. ;)

That's a shame you lost Smith, I'll be interested to see what moves you make to offset that loss.

There are a bunch of little things I really loved about 06 that 08 and 10 don't seem to have. I liked the personal touch of the PDA and having to wait for confirmation of your trade requests. Plus the players actually get injured in that game, which makes it interesting.

Too bad you lost Smith and Lawson. You need to sign a scoring SG in the FA.

Yeah, it was a shame that he went, but I was thinking of the bigger picture. Both Beasley and Anthony come off contract next season, so they're my main priority. If I don't pick up a star on free agency, I'll get one via mid season trade, pending how my team is going.

Draft Day

Denver trade both second round picks for Milwaukee's

Denver have traded picks 42 and 58 for Milwaukee's 45th overall. With the history of Denver's second round picks, this isn't a bad move, since they traded away both their 2nd rounders last year, one of which helped acquire Matt Bonner.

Denver draft Scot Ray Warren

Scottish born Centre Ray Warren has been drafted by Denver with the 45th overall pick of the NBA Draft. He has been compared to Oklahoma City's Nick Collison and his strengths are that he has a good inside game and he's rather athletic. His weaknesses are that his outside game is below average, he's undersized at 6'8 and he's not a great team player. He currently stands as Denver's only backup Centre to Chris Andersen. He will wear the number 24 jersey.

Free Agent Signings

The much anticipated free agency signings are here. Denver have made three this year, two veterans, one of which is familiar with the Denver set up and both are looking for a title on the way out. The other player is an up and coming guard who was denied a major opportunity at his previous club and is looking to step up his career in Denver. Here they are:

Camby back where he belongs

Image

Every franchise makes a decision that they either recognise as a mistake or somewhat regret later on. In order to avoid the luxury tax, Marcus Camby was traded to the Clippers in 2008. This left Camby disillusioned, as well as many of his fans from the Denver Nuggets.

Now in 2011, the Denver Nuggets have made amends with Marcus and agreed to sign him on to a 1 year contract, so he can finish his career where he belongs. What do Denver get with Camby as opposed his predeccessor Ben Wallace ? Well, they lose absolutely nothing on the boards or in blocked shots, but what they gain is someone who can drain a mid-range jumpshot and spread the defense. He will most likely be Chris Andersen's backup for this year.

Hill signs with the Nuggets

Image

Veteran swingman Grant Hill has signed a 1 year contract with the Denver Nuggets. After the Suns let him walk, he decided to continue playing on if his services were needed from a contender. With his versitility, he could provide solid contributions as either a backup swingman... or possibly a starting shooting guard depending on how things go.

High flyer signs with Denver

Image

Despite having the option to bring back Allen Iverson, the Denver Nuggets have gone in a different direction and signed Shannon Brown to a 2 year contract. Often impressed by his athleticism and high energy plays, Denver management and coaching staff kept a close eye on Shannon in the free agency. This will be a great opportunity for Shannon, as he will now step out of the shadow of Kobe Bryant and possibly contend for a position as Denver's starting shooting guard.

Thanks guys. The Marcus Camby signing is definitely my favourite. He was my favourite player on the Denver Nuggets and I was sad when he got traded away for practically nothing. I saw the previous season that he was coming onto free agency, and I was hoping that he wouldn't retire. I actually had a choice of signing Shaq to a similar contract, but he's way too much of a liability in the game now.

For the other two, Hill has always been a player I liked and Shannon Brown is one of my favourite emerging players in the NBA. Basically I sign players I like as a general rule, which is why I could never sign/trade for players like Paul Pierce or Stephon Marbury. Matter of personal preference I suppose.

Great moves. Hill is over the hill (heh), as is Camby, but along with Brown you got some excellent pieces for a repeat. Good job. (Y)

Very good :P

Camby and Hill (in particular) are well past their prime but they're both still pretty useful bench players. Shannon was a nicely priced pick up as well. Hopefully he'll fill some of the void with Smith gone.

I know what you mean. Rhe temptation is always there to try and acquire the players you enjoy watching and support in real life and it can certainly make the Dynasty a lot more fun when you swap players you aren't so keen on for role players and stars alike that you prefer.

That's probably my main reservation about choosing another team for a dynasty. I'd probably end up just turning them into the Denver Nuggets as well

Other Free Agency News

Smith lands in Memphis

Image

Former Denver Nugget guard Earl Smith III has signed a 4 year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. He walked out on the team he won a championship with after they didn't meet his contract demands, while Memphis couldn't resist the two time all-star.

Shaq signs with the Warriors

Image

Despite showing interest in joining Denver in the off-season, Shaquille O'Neal has signed with the Golden State Warriors. It's somewhat of a surprise move since the Warriors aren't considered a major contender, but the Big Diesel already has 4 rings, so maybe that's not a priority. Shaq will turn 40 towards the end of the season, in what surely has to be his last.

Shaq's sure bouncing around in the twilight of his career.

Camby, Hill, and Brown all give you a great chance to repeat as the champions again. (Y) You're team has a great mix of young, and veteran talent.

All signings were great. (Y) Give Shannon some time. He can jump out of the gym.

Loving the signings. (Y) As Martti said, you should give Brown some mins.

Thanks, I always like getting that mix. A team full of young players can be good, but there's just something about having vets in your side. I suppose because a lot of my favourite players are getting towards the end of their career.

Getting Shannon playing time is a big priority for me (y) he's by far my favourite Laker at the moment

Well another season is here. Stay tuned for game results and statistics. I might look to simulate more games this time around to help make statistics not so lopsided. I'm going to have one month of simulated quarters of 10 minutes and revise it from there. Enjoy :)

Anderson and Camby. How many blocked shots are you going to be getting a game. :D

Its going to be a challenging season with you losing your second best player and a couple key reserves. Louis Williams is very good IRL so hopefully you give him some PT. (Y)

Yay, Shannon starting! With him, Andersen, Beasley and Melo, you have a pretty athletic starting line-up, except Billups. :P

Good luck. :)

The only reason why he doesn't get playing time in my game is because he's one of those players that NBA Live have really underrated, much like Ty Lawson. If he was rated closer to his ability in real life, he'd be playing over Chalmers I think.

Thanks :) there's plenty of vets on the bench for Billups to play with as well, so he's not completely a fish out of water
