Awesome milestone post, thanks for the shoutout. This is what we call a true dynasty, not like those ones that last for .5 seasons. Congratz Man, this dynasty is HoF bound and then some. :D

Great milestone post, and thanks for the shoutout. :) You were truly the biggest influence to me when it comes to story-writing, and though there might be a few better stories in the HoF, your story is my all-time favorite regardless and hands down. It doesn't matter when this is retired, whether it's tomorrow or in five years, it has a spot in the Hall and, in my opinion, a spot in the top 10.
badreligionau wrote:I hope you continue on with your Rockets and at some point I'll submit my centre alter-ego "Kenê".

I've been meaning to continue with updates to my story, but I've been booked from 12-8 at work for the past two days and tomorrow, and on labor day weekend unfortunately. :( Looking forward to seeing Kene (too lazy to look up how to type the accent :P ) in my NBA, will try to sneak you into the 2012 draft class.

Thanks for the mention. It's interesting because I've always drawn inspiration from this dynasty to keep going with mine.

Good luck on reaching the 25 season mark at some point. (Y)

Thanks for the shout-out, man! I think in your alternate universe, there'd be movies made of this Nuggets dynasty.

Happy 50th! And don't let Lebron get that ring! xD

Andrew wrote:Great milestone post, thanks for the kind words! It's always good to hear that people are enjoying themselves on the Forum and I think the longevity of this Dynasty thread speaks volumes about your enjoyment and dedication. It's flattering to hear my stuff gave you some ideas, too. I hope you can make it through all 25 years with a combination of simming and playing, that'd really be something. :)

Those are some well chosen favourite moments. This truly has been a Dynasty in every sense of the word, one of the best uses of generated players in all the Dynasty threads we've seen and full of so many exciting moments to read about (and no doubt play as well). Like I said I hope you can make all 25, this one's Hall of Fame bound regardless but that'd be amazing. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your kind words as well :)

As I've always said, despite the game's flaws, this has been by far my favourite dynasty so far. I'm always preaching that playing with your favourite team is the secret to the success of a dynasty and I will continue to because of the enjoyment I've had in this one. Your unwaivering dedication to the Bulls definitely put the mindset in my head.

Martti. wrote:I remember my Bucks story and this went down to the wire last year, yours was my favorite if that's any consolation. :D Yours would win this year, hands down.

Should I even start a topic this year? I had them in October usually. :D

This has been great to follow, I hope this goes on for many, many seasons more. (Y)

Last year was a great one for dynasties, with yours, Axel.'s, Clutch's and Phil89's in the mix, coming so close to winning was an honour in itself. I actually can't believe it's almost been a year! But I'd say start it in October and keep a tradition going with that.

Keep reading this and I'll keep writing (y)

No worries, you've been one of my most enthusiastic posters since you've joined the forum, so it'd be a bit of an oversight to not include you in there. When I'm done with this, it'll be great to see it in with all the excellent previous efforts. Still, I can see it being at least another year before that happens though. I may take a few breaks from it here and there, but I always end up coming back. It probably will take the actually game itself to stop before I stop this one I think

Again, no worries and one of the proud moments I have had on this board was to inspire a Hall of Famer myself. I think if I was still playing this within 5 years, I'd probably deserve one of those invites from EA that Andrew gets

As for the accent in Kenê, all I did was look up Nenê on wikipedia and I copy and pasted the "enê" part of his name after writing K. I have a bit of a fascination with looking up names from other cultures and although I've never actually seen Kenê before, I figured that would be my name if I was Brasilian. That and I'm already using my likeness in my own story and thought it'd be cool to create a centre alter-ego instead of my usual undersized wing player.

Phil89 wrote:Thanks for the mention. It's interesting because I've always drawn inspiration from this dynasty to keep going with mine.

Well, I guess we were both feeding off each other. I remember yours started when I was in California and had no access to my PS3. So while my story had a little down time, I suppose your first OKC effort was the main one I was following. I guess I'm a silent follower in that sense.

I think I've said this before, if I had a chance to make the movies without getting sued, I'd say bring it on

The 50 Club

As I hit 50 pages in this dynasty, I began to wonder; just how many players have I reached 50 points or more with during the course of this dynasty? I looked through all my archives and found out that the official figure is 7. If you want to include Taylor MacKenzie's 53 in the Rookie Challenge, then I suppose you could say 8, but much to my surprise, he has yet to do so while playing for the Denver Nuggets. Who are the 7 players? In order of the highest 50+ to the lowest:

J.R. Smith: 64 Vs Atlanta Hawks (Season 8)

Even though season 3 marked the comeback of Marcus Camby to the Nuggets, season 8 should be seen as the greatest comeback for a former Denver player. J.R. Smith not only came back to Denver, but he had one of the all-time great seasons. He won the scoring championship and was the first player in the history of the Denver Nuggets to win the MVP trophy. Along the way, he grounded the Hawks with an incredible 64 point performance. It goes without saying that J.R. Smith is the president of this illustrious club.

Chauncey Billups: 59 Vs San Antonio Spurs (Season 3)

It'll surprise everyone that Chauncey's greatest point scoring effort came outside that incredible run he had in his final season. Even more surprising that it was right before I decided to sim the remainder of the 3rd season. It just goes to show what an incredible performer he was over such a long stretch of time.

Carmelo Anthony: 58 Vs Chicago Bulls (Season 2)

If J.R. Smith is the president of the 50 club, then Carmelo Anthony would be either the VP or the treasurer. He was the original superstar of this dynasty and much like Earl, he came back after a few seasons elsewhere. But to the contrary of the President of this club, his greatest performance came during his first stint with the franchise. He was the first Nuggets player in this dynasty to really dominate teams on the offensive end.

Shannon Brown: 57 Vs New Orleans Hornets (Season 4)

Much like Michael Beasley, I often feel as if Shannon Brown's influence on this dynasty is often overlooked. When J.R. left for Memphis, Shannon was a real stud for Denver and in season 4, he came up with a 57 point performance against the Hornets. He was a truly integral part to Denver's threepeat.

Kevin Durant: 54 Vs New Orleans Hornets (Season 9)

He arrived and departed in controversial circumstances, but no one could argue with the impact that Durant once had with the Nuggets. He might not have lived up to the hype come playoff time, but with 54 against the New Orleans Hornets, the Durantula proved that his presense wouldn't be forgotten.

George Power: 53 Vs Chicago Bulls (Season 9)

Gorgeous George, Max Power, The One Hit Wonder... his career may not have panned out like I would have hoped, but he was an absolute beast in his rookie season. Against a guy who wore number 23 with the Bulls (and no, it wasn't Jordan), he dominated with 53 points. It was a rookie season that left many in awe, but now many are left scratching their heads, wondering why George didn't turn out to be the force in the league that many thought he would be.

Ty Maximilian: 51 Vs Memphis (Season 4)

Ty's 51 may be the smallest total on this list, but it was by far the most important. It came in a Game 7 Western Conference Finals game against J.R. Smith's Memphis Grizzlies. For the earlier readers of this dynasty, Ty became a legend during the 3rd season playoffs campaign, but this is the performance that put him in Denver folklore.

I would've thought there'd have been a few more, but I guess that's a testament to team play and the multiple options you've had over the years, that could step up and carry the team when called upon. (Y)

Just saw that you've got this one rolling again. Great to see. I like that you've got love for the generics and give them a life of their own. I hope you can keep it going for the full 25 seasons (Y) It's a shame I didn't follow the Live Dynasty forums when this one started, but ahh well, is still good to check in every now & then & read about another Perko triple double (Y)

Unfortunately I don't think I have any screenshots. I think honor glow's great Lakers' dynasty (in Live HOF) did have a couple of pics of some of my players but all the pic links are now gone (N) I shared my dynasty database file with him, as did alexboom & one or two others and he integrated our teams into his long running Lakers' dynasty & he had one or two epic playoff matchups against my team.

Btw, I look forward to seeing the current Oceania champions NZ win tomorrow night, or at the very least a good, quality game of basketball (& hopefully a 40 point night from Penney after his 30 points last night).

Thanks for the shoutout, thats the only successful (I think so) dynasty I had. The thing I remember in this dynasty was that "flop" really an epic one  . Congrats on the milestone man and also for enjoying playing with the generics I have one like this in 2k11 and really enjoyed it too.

I would have thought so too, but I guess guys like J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony have done it on many occassions (J.R. did it 5 games in a row at one stage), so perhaps the anticipated number was a lot larger because of that. I always enjoy it when the lesser players like George Power and Shannon Brown can make lists like this. I'm thinking of a post about the 20-20 club and possibly some other statistical accomplishments over the course of the season.

Mavs4Life wrote:IIt is weird how Power never expanded.

Thanks Mavs4Life, this dynasty seems very real to me and I guess that's because of a sentimental attachment to my generated players. I believe Dallas are currently hovering around near the 6th seed in the West (well, that's where they were last monthly summary). I'd love to see them and (particularly) Houston make the playoffs once again. There always seems to be drama when I play a team from Texas.

To be honest, I didn't expect to come even close to this. Over the course of this dynasty, I've had to buy a second copy of the game, come back after several hiatuses (the big one was when I went to California for a month) and a TV scare not too long ago. As long as you commit to the story and enjoy yourself, there's no reason why you (or anyone) couldn't reach 50.

Thanks for the kind words :)

I understand why you didn't follow this from the start because I myself was a Dynasty section exclusive reader/poster when the two were seperated. But I'm glad you started reading it and it's always great to have your input. It's funny how when we were out, Sit's friend said he couldn't play NBA Live 10 post-patch and I was sitting right there... it was potentially an awkward moment, but I play it inspite of the glitches and because of sheer EA homerism :P

It's a shame you don't have any screen shots left, but I love the idea of expanding this dynasty on for other readers to use at some point. I'd like to develop my own roster patch for the TNL universe for NBA Live 06 or maybe even for NBA 2k11. It'll be a big job, but it's one I think could be quite rewarding... who knows, maybe I can get a little help too.

As for your last part of the comment, I'm really too late to say anything about it... I just hope that you shall call Joe Ingles "Jingles" from now on

Uh yeah, "that" flop. I remember when that happened; I've seen some pretty whack glitches while playing Live 10, but that one made me the most angry because it came at a time when the game was right on the line and it pushed the momentum in favour of the Clippers. But in the long run, it proved to be good because it created a side story for the dynasty.

The thing I love about generics is that they can be whoever you want them to be. I remember playing 2k10 for a short time and their generics had no character whatsoever and it really took away a fair bit of enjoyment I could have had from that game (as silly as that sounds).

Yeah, I found that rather interesting too (The Bulls and Hornets), particularly NOLA since they seem to be one of my bogey teams.

And you're right, nobody from Denver has their jersey retired with number 50. Dan Issel is the closest with 44 and Byron Beck has 40. Perhaps 50 will go to my next lottery pick or marquee acquisition. I'd like to use every number I can I suppose. Actually gave me a great idea for a post when this dynasty is over.

I'm glad I had a hand in that, because the quality of your recaps are really second to none. All you really needed was the longevity and you had yourself a HOF thread. And yeah, I understand that sometimes life gets in the way. As I've mentioned before, I've had to take several hiatuses for one reason or another during this thread.

5 Game Summary

The Denver Nuggets had a mixed round, in which they extended their winning streak to 5, with comfortable wins over Phoenix, Utah and Dallas. But the streak would end at the hands of Western Conference rivals, the Houston Rockets. Somewhat of a rarity, they are currently on a 2 game losing streak, with another loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The big news to come out of this lot of games is that J.R. Smith was a no show in Denver's loss to Memphis and it's believe that he's been given a leave of absense to help him consider his future in the NBA. But back to the basketball; the feature game this round is against the Dallas Mavericks:

Mavericks Pummeled by Nuggets

Image

The Denver Nuggets extended their winning streak to 5 with a resounding 100-70 win against the Dallas Mavericks. 5 players from the Nuggets scored in double figures, with both Dwight Howard and Taylor MacKenzie leading the way with 22 points. J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony both had their struggles from the field, but they still managed 14 and 11 respectively. The stat-line of the game however belonged to Borislav Perko once again, as he was just 3 blocks shy of a quadruple-double. He had 13 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 blocked shots.

For the Mavericks, their miserable night was underlined by the fact that they had only 3 double-digit scorers, none of which scored 20. Sergio Soto was the pick of the bunch with 19. Corin Robertson (16) and Archibald Sheehan (12) were both contributors, but the Mavericks had no answers for the Nuggets potent offense, led by MVP favourite Borislav Perko.

Leading By Example
Image
Despite being the team's 5th scoring option, Borislav Perko continues to find other ways to lead his team, as his triple-doubles would suggest. It seemed like he did whatever he wanted to against the Utah Jazz, with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 17 assists. The real value in this guy's game is his ability to get the others involved.

Classic Carmelo
Image
Despite losing to the Memphis Grizzlies, Carmelo Anthony had a flashback game. He scored 33 points and was absolutely dominant on the offensive end. But in the same sense, it was a flashback to when Denver gave him little help as well.

T-Mac's Bigger In Texas
Image
Taylor MacKenzie absolutely loves playing against teams from Texas... well, it seems that way at least. He had another outstanding performance in the Nuggets loss against the Rockets, scoring 26 points off the bench.

Fading Out?
Image
J.R. Smith's highlight of the summary came against the Phoenix Suns, where he scored 18 points. After finishing second in last season's scoring contest, his game has dropped off considerably to accommodate for the other offensive weapons that arrived in the Mile High City. Rumour has it that he's frustrated by this and he's been given a leave of absense to help sort his issues out.

Good to see Howard is still going strong, as is Perko with impressive triple double games. I'm interested to see where this situation with J.R. Smith is going, too.

In hindsight I don't think Kevin Durant was the greatest fit for my franchise. I thought his superior three point shot would help me space the floor a bit more, but I really missed Melo's midrange game and his strength. I've been playing a fair bit of My Player on 2k11 and the difference in game speed between that and Live is just unbelievable. Live 10 can be absolutely hectic and I think that contributes to me losing a few games... that and general complacency.

Andrew wrote:Good to see Howard is still going strong, as is Perko with impressive triple double games. I'm interested to see where this situation with J.R. Smith is going, too.

I'm really enjoying Howard's game right now. I think he's the closest thing to Shaq's prime I've had on my team... at times he just seems unstoppable because of his sheer strength. Definitely a good fit with Perko, since I have a tendency to play my power forwards away from the basket a little more than usual (Michael Beasley and Ty Maximilian were good examples of that too). As for J.R, I'm not sure why he hasn't been as effective this season because I don't think any of his ratings have taken a real tumble. I guess he's not the big fish on my team anymore and that might be affecting how much ball I'm giving him. I figured this would be my best chance to test some depth and having a bit of a preview of the Nuggets post-Earl.

January 2021 Review

January was a more turbulent month than Denver fans expected. Towards the end, the Nuggets went on a three game losing streak and reigning MVP J.R. Smith went on a leave of absense after some lukewarm performances. The Nuggets' depth was tested this month more than ever, as they saw 4 different starting point guards (the latest being Ed Reed) and now with J.R's temporary (we'll assume so for now) replacement in the starting lineup, Brandon Roy. The Nuggets however were able to get back on track and currently have a two game winning streak heading into February, thanks to some outstanding play from Mr Reliable, Borislav Perko.

Perko's efforts to lead his team earned him the much deserved West Player of the Month accolade and he's currently the leading contender for the MVP trophy. His main competitor? An old teammate of his; Kevin Durant.
