It was definitely my aim to be up there with those two franchises, particularly since Denver started with a relatively small market. As for J.R, after the first championship, he joined with Memphis via free agency, so at this point he has 5.

Amazing series be Perko, triple-double average in the Finals.

Hey, when it comes to the story, I need a scapegoat

It was definitely an incredible series. Crazy thing is, I think he's only 24 or 25 as well. Who knows where he could go from here.

Thierry • wrote:I'm sure Perko will have his jersey retired :D

Oh definitely; if the season didn't ensure that, the playoffs made him a lock.

If he can keep up a high level of play, definitely.

Axel. wrote:Congrats on winning the title, again! :D It seems the Raptors put up quite the fight in the first four games, but you completely crushed them in Games 5 & 6. The team with better defense and better scoring options easily won this one, and of course, it's all thanks to Perko's average of triple-doubles.

Thanks Axel :)

When a team doesn't play defense, it doesn't take long for everything else to fall about because of it. That's what I was hoping for and that's what happened. Yi turned out to be a rebound machine though

One thing that made this championship sweet was that there were big performances from many players. Smith, Durant, MacKenzie and Jennings were all big at one point or another. Even Adrian Young had his moments.

Andrew wrote:Congrats on the four peat! Amazing run of triple doubles by Perko, he's definitely been one of the highlights of the season. Not too far off getting the ten championships PSN trophy. :)

Thanks Andrew :)

It was a fantastic run. Triple-doubles used to be a rarity for me but with Perko, his game just seems to make him a constant threat. At some point I'd like to make a run at Oscar Robertson's mark of a triple-double season.

7 down, 3 to go.

Off-Season News

Perko Extends

Finals MVP Borislav Perko decided to stay with Denver for an extra 4 years. After J.R. Smith won the MVP trophy, Perko managed to steal his spotlight with a dynamic post-season that saw 12 triple-doubles in the space of 22 games.

Watters To Test Free Agency

Aaron Watters is going to be a free agent this off-season. After being DeAndre Jordan's primary backup, Watters saw his minutes decline as stalwart Robin Lopez started to impress the coaching staff once again. It's believed his motivation for the move is to have a bigger role.

Rudy Retires

After game 6 of the NBA Finals, Rudy Fernandez decided to call it a career after 12 years with 3 different teams. Early in the 2019-2020 season, Rudy was one of the first players to come off the bench and provided instant offense. But with the re-emergence of Taylor MacKenzie, he saw his minutes drop. With a ring to his name, it seemed like it would be a fitting time to give the game away.

Fernandez spent time with Portland, Memphis and Denver, along with stints in his home country of Spain.

Nuggets To Pick Last In Both Rounds

Denver will get picks 30 and 60 in the 2020 draft.

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level (NBA Live 10)

Pick #30: Jakov Branco (Russia)

Centre
Age: 22
Height: 6'11
Weight: 248lbs
NBA Comparison: Jake Voskuhl

Inside: B-
Outside: D
Defense: B-
Teamwork: D-
Athleticism: C

Pick #60: Jesus Carlos (Fresno St)

Point Guard
Age: 19
Height: 6'2
Weight: 178lbs
NBA Comparison: Anthony Carter

Inside: D-
Outside: C
Defense: C
Teamwork: B-
Athleticism: B-

----------------------------------------

By the two NBA comparisons, I think it's fair to say it was a weak draft, particularly for point guards considering every single one was the next Anthony Carter (no joke). The Split Decision will be up next.

Nice job finishing off the Raptors in games 5 and 6. 7 titles is an incredible achievement. :applaud:

Who is Patty Mills going to talk to on the bench now with Rudy gone? :o

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level (NBA Live 10)

Glad to see Perko's on board for the forseeable future. Matching The Big O's feat will be quite a task but that'll definitely keep things interesting for everybody...and certainly challenging for you. ;)

It definitely looks like a weak Draft but I guess you can't expect too much out of those picks most of the time. If you can get some solid minutes from them here and there, I think you've got to be pleased with that.

Thanks Phil89, it's been fun trying to achieve the trophy of 10 championships. Hopefully I can bring it up relatively soon :)

As for Patty, I'm sure I'll find someone in the off-season for him to talk to ;)

Not sure if I'll go for it next season; I kind of wouldn't mind going back to the system where I sim most of my away games. I want to get further through this before I get another job

To me, drafting a second round pick is a lottery in itself. When you have the last pick of the draft, you may as well get the guy with the most interesting name. Jesus arriving in Denver was too tempting to pass up :P

The movie length ESPN special kicked off with an overview of the 2019-2020 season, particularly focusing on the efforts of the three players this special is focused on. With the analysis pointing to the fact that LeBron would be the most likely to be on the move, there was a bit of irony in the final result of the night. Here's where the three in question decided:

Kevin Durant: "I'm Taking My Talents To South Beach"

Kevin Durant signed a 1 year deal with the Miami Heat. When asked about his motivation, he replied that helping the Eastern Conference become stronger was a challenge that his career needed.

Somewhat bemused by his reason for leaving, Kenny Young was quick to point out Durant's "ridiculous" extension demands with Denver. It looks like the split wasn't on the greatest of terms.

Carmelo Anthony: "I'm Going Back To Denver"

After the first shocking decision of the night, Carmelo Anthony agreed to a 1 year deal with the side that drafted him; the Denver Nuggets. His offer is reportedly worth 14 million less than Durant's deal with Miami.

Melo's game matured a lot when he was with Minnesota. With young scorers around him, he was willing to pass the ball off a lot more than he used to. When asked about his decision, he stated that Denver was his real home and he regretted the way in which he left for Minnesota.

LeBron James: "Arizona Is Going To Have More LeBron"

LeBron James was the only player who looked certain to move in this special; but he ended up being the only one who stayed with his team of the 2019-2020 season. LeBron will play for the Suns for one more season yet.

---------------------------------------------

As much as it might seem that way, I'm not stealing Sit's idea of turning Durant into an arrogant douche; that's just how the free agency went down. So, Durant is the bad guy and LeBron turns out to be the good guy... I never said this was realistic

Not sure about Taylor's Hall of Fame credentials just yet. He had some big games, but he's really only had about 1 and half great seasons and 1 awesome off-season.

I hope Jesus can provide all sorts of miracles in his time with Denver. And yes, Melo will be #15 once again.

Denver Player Movement

Blockbuster Trade: D12 Acquired By Nuggets

After losing Kevin Durant in free agency, the Denver Nuggets were quick to hit back with the blockbuster trade of the off-season. They sent DeAndre Jordan, Robin Lopez and their 2021 first round pick to Indiana in exchange for Dwight Howard. With the addition of Howard, Borislav Perko will now have an inside presense to pass the ball to and an extremely intimidating shot blocker as well.

Dream Blasphemer Signs For Two

Former Houston Rocket guard Nathan Bing signed a two year deal with the Denver Nuggets. Most well known for wearing Hakeem Olajuwon's number 34 in Houston, he will be looking to create a new reputation for himself with the Denver Nuggets.

Nuggets Sign Another Blazer

It seems like Portland is one of Denver's best scouting regions and in 2020, little has changed. Veteran guard Brandon Roy has signed a 1 year veteran's minimum deal with the Nuggets. A championship winner and a Finals MVP, Brandon Roy's latter years have been slowed down considerably by knee problems. With no cartilage in his knees, Brandon is unlikely to see significant minutes in this season, but he should still be good for sporadic scoring spurts.

Shame about losing Durant, but that contract demand was stupid.
Bringing in Melo, Dwight and Roy is awesome though. Are they all like 30-35 years old by now?

Luvin' Vlade Divac :P

Congrats on another title. Luvin', absolutely luvin' that Durant is gone & Melo is back. It feels right. It was never Durant's team, it was Earl's & now Perko is stepping up putting his indelible mark on the proud franchise.

Can't believe Durant wanted that many $$$'s   You did the right thing letting him walk (Y)

You've got huge Vets in your Roster.

Wow, shocking off-season to say the least. First you draft Jesus, then Durant asks for heaps of money, and then Melo is back and you acquire Dwight. But the most shocking part, is that you signed that damn blasphemer! :x Don't let him wear #34 in Denver is what I'm asking of you, he's disgraced it for too long.

Well, looking forward to seeing how the season will pan out, and the five-peat. (Y)

Huge shake-up in your team man. 36M for one year, my god! But loving the new lineup: D12-Perko-Melo-Earl-Jennings, that's amazing.

Dwight, yes! And the return of Melo! Mixed with earl,T-Mac, & Perko? Pure amazing.

I want a Nuggets dynasty movie!

Surprising turn of events with Durant, but bringing Melo back really works for the overall story. It certainly makes for an eventful offseason, nice moves as you (hopefully) position yourself for five in a row.

I thought his demand was going to be high, but yeah, what he asked was just unbelievable.

I think they're all past 35 at this point. Roy's overall is about 68, Melo's is 73 (which is still enough to be a solid starter) and Dwight's is about 78, so they're all relatively capable despite the age factor.

It's funny because the Atlanta Hawks have a guy named Milan Divac and he kinda looks like Vlade... I've been so tempted to acquire him one way or another

To me it always felt like Durant was a bit of a third wheel. I guess when it came down to it, I was a bit hot-and-cold with him. I traded for him because I thought he would be a superior 3 point shooter. When it came down to it, Melo's mid-range game is far better and I guess I prefer his style in general. I probably got rid of him in the midst of all the trade rumours in real life as well.

30 million is probably too much for any player, let-alone a guy who was playing a complementory role.

Houndy wrote:Holy Balls, Durant is greedy.

That he is and giving him up gave me enough cap flexibility to make a play at Dwight, so I think I won on that situation.

I guess I have a soft spot for the vets. A dynasty is a great way to distribute rings to guys you want to get them and I guess thats how I've always acquired people... it's why Kevin Garnett and LeBron James have never played for Denver (although I admit, the thought of playing LeBron at point guard was one that crossed my mind).

Cruzerr wrote:I knew it before that you will win, so you did. Awesome to see melo back in Denver.

To somewhat paraphrase Shaq, I guess I know when to win when it counts  (his original quote was about free throws)

Seeing Melo back in his #15 just looks right to me :)

It was definitely an eventful off-season. I always had a feeling I'd let Durant leave if he asked for too much because his role with the Nuggets didn't warrant a max level salary. He was very productive, but 30 million a year would suggest franchise player (hell, 15 a year suggests that to me). I don't even think The Greatest Player in the World (Joe Johnson) would ask for that much!

Not sure what I'd change Bing's number to, so maybe he'll wear 00. The only player I had wearing that was Lou Williams IIRC.

It's bad when a first round pick is compared to someone's game I barely even know... I might have to youtube Mr Voskuhl to see what I'm up against.

I always like shaking my team up a little, even if I'm winning. I think if I stay the same, eventually the other teams work you out.

Hey, if I could get all the licensing rights to use people's names and all that stuff, I would love to do a movie :P

But yes, I'm going to have a lot of fun with that lineup.

It was something that was always on the cards. Even playing for New York Melo is one of my favourite players to watch and probably my favourite from the 2003 NBA Draft. Hopefully my vets can be up for 5 in a row.

Prologue

After a run of 4 consecutive championships, the Nuggets have become an empire. People are flocking from to Denver from all corners of the globe just to witness the greatest dynasty since the 60s Celtics team. Despite losing one of their big stars, they have arguably become an even stronger force with the acquisitions they've made. Dwight Howard, the most dominant centre of the last decade has now joined the ranks as well as former Finals MVP Brandon Roy. The 2019 Most Improved Player Nathan Bing is out to forge a new reputation outside that of the blasphemer, but the most significant story will be the return of Denver's original superstar, Carmelo Anthony. It was almost 3 seasons ago since he was last in the Mile High City and he is now looking to finish his career where he started. Will he be the team's main man again?

It's a team stacked with talent; Dwight Howard and Borislav Perko will create arguably the best rebounding combination in the league. J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony the greatest wing pairing and a mercurial talent in Brandon Jennings make up their starting group. This isn't a team heavy with starting talent though, with Taylor MacKenzie, and Nathan Bing, the Nuggets have two guys off the bench who can light up the scoreboard quickly, and once Brandon Roy has his scheduled return in December, the Nuggets bench will look to take a lot of pressure off their starters.

Denver have one of the most talented teams in NBA history, but in saying this, they also have a contingency plan. 7 of their players go into free agency in this upcoming off-season, two of those are the big contracts of J.R. Smith and Dwight Howard. If the season doesn't pan out, the Nuggets have the flexibility to completely rebuild their empire. So how will they fair in the 2020-2021 season? Only time will tell.
