Liked the article. (Y) Hasheem Thabeet is definitely the worst number 2 overall pick you've had on your team. :lol: Congrats on the 20K views!

Congrats on the number of views! This is definitely going down as one of the most popular and the best Dynasty threads we've ever had. Nice work on the article too, the length of this Dynasty definitely facilitates some entertaining features and retrospectives. (Y)

Thanks dare, I do have a host of number picks... or atleast those three aforementioned... I'll do some research and perhaps write up an article about that as well :)

Thanks Houndy, I have appreciated your support throughout the thread :)

Hopefully I can get a few more pages out of it yet. I'd love for it to reach 50 :D

37 I believe is the mark for the dynasty section so far... that's what I'll go for; I don't think I'll ever catch Sit (just like playing ball against him IRL :lol:)

I'd have to agree with that statement. His height could have helped me but yeah, with the wealth of talent in the number 2 picks, he's definitely the worst.

I noticed that too as I was writing it up. Definitely an interesting occurence.

Thanks Andrew, I've definitely enjoyed writing it so far and I'm glad others are getting something out of it as well. The retrospectives are nice to write when I can't get to play Live 10 as much as I want to.

The X wrote:Congrats on keeping this one rolling. Nice to see a number 2 pick retrospective also (Y)

Thanks X, I'm hoping to do a few more retrospectives in that style once I figure out how many 1s and 3s I have.

NBA Live 98 reference as Andrew pointed out. The GOAT is a great player but made a few mistakes while being GM... I thought it'd be a nice hommage to the first NBA Live series game I ever played as well as not shaming the GOAT's great name.

From the alleged busts to the All-Star caliber, it's definitely an interesting variety indeed.

5 Game Summary

In the period that saw Carmelo Anthony return to Denver, the Nuggets themselves hit a slump after their initial success against the Wolves. In fact, they're now on a 4 game slide with losses against The Thunder, Clippers and Lakers (@#$%#$%^#$). The Denver Juggernaut is no longer bullet proof as they've lost 5 of their last 6. But hey, I may as well bring you the good news of the round with the game against the Timberwolves:

Durant gets round 2 by points decision

Image

The Denver Nuggets shrugged off the return of Carmelo Anthony to their court with a 94-83 win against Minnesota. Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony were the highlight of the night as predicted, with Durant outscoring Melo 30-27 off 10/10 shooting from the field. The big surprise of the night would be Dennis Da Conceicao though, as he scored 28 points off the bench. J.R. Smith would pick up the third scoring role with 16 points on a productive night for the Nuggets on the offensive end.

For Minnesota, Cameron Robin equalled Melo's mark of 27 points. Point guard Schwarz was the only player with a double-double on the night with 10 points and 10 assists.

Even though Durant had the better game, Melo showed signs of improvement from the first battle. With Denver's form this season, I wouldn't expect to see Durant win every round of this contest.

---------------------------------------------

MIN@DEN

DEN: 94 (Durant 30, Da Conceicao 28, Smith 16)
MIN: 83 (Anthony 27, Robin 27, Schwarz 10)

Sprite Performer of the Game: Kevin Durant 30 points 4 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal 3 blocks

Rebounds

DEN: Lopez 11
MIN: Jefferson 10

Assists

DEN: Jennings, Lopez 4
MIN: Schwarz 10

Last 5 Games

MIN: 94-83 W
OKC: 80-77 L
@LAC: 108-74 L [simmed] (Smith 13 points, Durant 13 points, Andersen 11 rebounds 5 blocks)
@LAC: 63-57 L [simmed] (Smith 16)
@LAL: 90-85 L

Denver are now 20-15

---------------------------------------------

Welcome home
Image
Carmelo Anthony had a much better game in Denver, but he had his hands full all night, even from Denver's new acquisition Dennis Da Conceicao. DDC scored 28 points.

Points... but at what cost?
Image
J.R. Smith was the top scorer for Denver against the Thunder with 24 points, but his shot selection throughout the game was questionable. Smith is simply not hitting the shots he was hitting in his MVP year and this can hurt Denver more often than not.

Post presense
Image
Desperate for options after a 3 game losing streak, Robin Lopez stepped up to the plate against the Lakers. Even though Denver lost by 5, Fropez had a great night against Andrew Bynum with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals.

---------------------------------------------

Next 5 Games

UTA
@ATL
@MIA
@CHA
@IND

---------------------------------------------

At 20-15, Denver's season is just about at a crossroads. Right now, they're not quite at the contending caliber they'd like to be. Don't be surprised to see atleast one more move done before the deadline.

Nice job against the T-Wolves but hard loss against the Fakers. No Moar Sim :lol:

Damn, only 20-15 so far. The Sim Engine hasn't been kind to you. How's Jennings doing?

Re: Denver Nuggets - The Next Level

Thu Dec 30, 2010 2:54 am

Sim Engine is still being a sim engine. That was probably one of the worst 5-game stretches for you of the dynasty. (N) What makes it that bad was the loss to the Fakers. Good to see Robin Lopez pwn Andrew Bynum though.

Lol man, don't sim anymore. Nice to see Da Conceicao playing like that! :bowdown:

Tough stretch for you but at least Durant got the better of Melo and you picked up that win. Hopefully DDC's game is a sign of things to come.

Record has taken quite a hit due to the simming, but it certainly keeps things interesting. Perhaps Roster Player coaches the team during simmed games. :P

It was a tough loss. According to this game, Mike Conley is the greatest clutch shooter in the league... gotta love the fantasy that is this dynasty :lol:

Martti. wrote:Damn, only 20-15 so far. The Sim Engine hasn't been kind to you. How's Jennings doing?

To be fair though, 2 of those losses I actually played in. As for Jennings, his shooting touch isn't really there at the moment so he's more of a distributor. I'm doing my best to create some plays for him like I did with Chauncey last season, but Billups seemed to have the much superior fade-away shot and the tendency to layup as opposed to Jennings who wants to dunk everything in this game.

I'm guessing it's probably the worst one I've had. I played 2 really close losses though, which kind of made me angry because they just seem to hit everything at the moment. Playing the 2k games has been kind of screwing me up for Live 10.

Perhaps there's a little Homerism involved here, but Robin Lopez > Bynum :lol:

Thierry • wrote:Lol man, don't sim anymore. Nice to see Da Conceicao playing like that! :bowdown:

I might play a few more games but I kind of like the drama that being mediocre is creating. All the sudden I have to think about my team's chemistry and who is a liability... and perhaps my system of signing players in their twilight years. DDC has proven to be a great asset so far and along with T-Mac 2.0 and Borislav Perko, there's a nice little foundation there to rebuild my team if need be.

Andrew wrote:Tough stretch for you but at least Durant got the better of Melo and you picked up that win. Hopefully DDC's game is a sign of things to come.

I'm loving every game against the Wolves at the moment because of the matchup. It's really creating a whole new dynamic in my dynasty... in saying that though I really do need to bring my game against the other teams as well. Of the games I played in that stretch, I went 1-2... not great at all. I'm hoping the performance from DDC triggers an all-star career :D

Lamrock wrote:Record has taken quite a hit due to the simming, but it certainly keeps things interesting. Perhaps Roster Player coaches the team during simmed games. :P

Either him or Dantley :lol:

But yeah, I decided to sim a lot more games so it'd keep the game interesting. If my team went 70 plus after losing Chauncey Billups, it'd be a bit stale and somewhat undermine his impact on the team.

Kevin Durant has become the go to guy for Denver, so to mark the 35th page, I thought I'd bring back the challenge game that was introduced on page 24. For this challenge, Durant's career highs in real life come into play and every player on Denver is applicable for the challenge. Here are the milestones:

Points: 47 [completed] J.R. Smith 49 (18/2/19)
Rebounds: 15 [completed] Borislav Perko 17 (22/1/19)
Assists: 9 [completed] Brandon Jennings 11 (18/1/19)
Steals: 5 [completed] Kevin Durant 5 (18/1/19)
Blocks: 5

Please note:

*This challenge is valid for page 35 only. I'm aware all of these records have been broken in previous recaps.
*These stats will remain static, which means if the Durantula breaks any of these in real life, they'll stay as they are now anyway.
*It's the first player to break the mark. If someone records more in a certain category after it's been broken, the original record still stands.
