NBA Finals: Denver Vs New York
The First 4 Games

Game 1: Billups belts Knicks in victory

Image

Chauncey Billups has come up with one of the games of his life as the Denver Nuggets thrashed the New York Knicks 104-79. Mr Big Shot ended up with 40 points in a display of some of the best shooting you'll ever see. Kevin Durant also enjoyed a high scoring night with 29, while J.R. Smith contributed with 17. On the defensive end, Yao was a force to be reckoned with as he grabbed 12 boards and swatted away 4 shots.

For the Knicks, Evan O'Shea was the high point man with 20. Luis Johnston recorded 17, but Rajon Rondo had a disappointing night with 13. Bench player MacKenzie MacMahon rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12.

Despite a dominant performance on the boards by Grant Bernard (20 rebounds), the Denver Nuggets put major points on a woeful New York Knicks defense. Their inability to defend the pick and roll was their downfall and if they're to stay in this series, they need to make a serious adjustment.

Game 2: Denver go up by 2

Denver have once again flexed their muscles against the New York Knicks by winning Game 2 by 82-69. J.R. Smith led the way with 36 points to earn himself the Performer of the Game. Finals MVP favourite Chauncey Billups wasn't far away with 23 points. Being a relatively low scoring game, those two were the only double figure scorers for Denver, as the third highest was Kevin Durant with 8 points.

In contrast, New York had 4 double-digit scorers with Grant Bernard leading the way. He registered a double-double by once again owning the boards with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Rajon Rondo had an improved game with 17, while Evan O'Shea scored 14. Garth Connolly was the 4th in double figures with 12.

Although they had a shared offensive performance, no one for the Knicks was able to dominate the scorer's sheet.

Game 3: Denver one away

Denver find themselves one game away from repeating as they had another emphatic win over New York, with the score ending up 82-67. Chauncey Billups got out of the blocks quickly and was the high point man with 23. However it was Borislav Perko who won the Performer of the Game. The Kazakhstan Kid registered a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. He came up with some big time plays that will no doubt make it in the playoffs highlight reel. Kevin Durant and J.R. Smith both scored 14 each as Denver had a well-rounded scoring effort.

For the Knicks, while Grant Bernard and Rajon Rondo both had 20 points, there would be little resistance after that as Luis Johnston (10) was the only other double-figure scorer. Bernard picked up his second double-double of the series with 12 boards as well.

With the next game at Madison Square Garden, New York will be desperately looking to turn around their fortunes.

Game 4: Denver remain on top

Image

Denver have ended their season in a fitting 31 point blowout of the New York Knicks. The score after 4 quarters was 100-69. During the entire year, Denver were just about untouchable and this game was no exception. In what could have been the last game of his career, Chauncey Billups was at his devastating best, scoring 36 points. He was well supported by former MVP J.R. Smith, who scored 31. Borislav Perko continued on his good form with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Kevin Durant didn't have to do much more than score 10 points.

New York had 4 double figure scorers, but as was the story of this series, they all struggled to get above 20. Evan O'Shea was the closest with 19 points. The rest couldn't even make it above 15 as Luis Johnston (12), Rajon Rondo (11) and Grant Bernard (10) struggled to make inroads into Denver's defense. Bernard once again hit the boards hard with 12 rebounds, but it was in vain much like the rest of his efforts in the series.

This is the second season in a row that Denver has sweeped the NBA Finals.

Congrats on the title (B) ! In the end, it was you who raped the Knicks, and their mothers too! :P Loved the highlights, especially the Durant No Look, Perko's dunk block, and Billups's long three. (Y) It's gonna suck to see Billups go. :(

Tremendous win! Love Billup's 3. and congrats on the 2018 Final!

Congrats on another title. I imagine this one would feel especially sweet (Y)

Question, what difficulty are you playing? Do you play Pro since it is apparently most realistic play then ramp up the sliders for difficulty? Might be time to ramp up difficulty a little

You know you're dominating when you barely hit double digits in losses (11) in both the regular season and playoffs combined.

Congrats on winning another championship in dominating fashion! Great to see Billups come up big with Finals MVP honours, if this is his swansong then you can't ask for a much better finale.

Nice job getting another Championship. :applaud:

I'm interested to see what you do during the off-season. A few of your guys must be getting close to retirement.
Even if Billups, Andersen or Yao do retire, you have Jennings and Lopez ready to step in. (Y)

Billups' #1 should be retired if he does, too. We don't want another Igor Martin, do we?

At least with players on your own team, you can change their jersey number to avoid that stuff.

Yeah, I was surprised to how quick it was to be honest. I thought they would be a lot harder, but I guess they were an 8th seed team in the end.

I'm glad Chauncey lived up to expectations in his 20th year. It was definitely a season to remember for me personally... I'm willing to say best ever for me in dynasties I've played.

Absolutely; nothing better than to go out as a winner and judged the best in the post season :)

Perko's dunk block was probably my favourite out of the lot, although the 3 was particularly amazing too. It'll be sad to see Billups go, that's for sure. He's been there from the very start.

Thanks The X. I actually play on All-Star at the moment. I always kind of refused to play on Superstar because of how unforgiving All-Star can be at times, but ever since playing 2k11, I think going up to Superstar might not be so hard

megarover wrote:You know you're dominating when you barely hit double digits in losses (11) in both the regular season and playoffs combined.

I never really thought of it like that actually. Overall including both I had a win-loss of .890... can't ask for a whole lot more there really.

The Lakers and the Celtics are particularly bad in this dynasty, but with Stanley Alston on their side, I can imagine the Lakers improving greatly next season. If there is a GOAT in my game, it's definitely him.

And nice prediction as well 501stJointFightWing (y)

I'm so glad he won it because I know that J.R. is going to be around next season and he will have his chances at it again... not so sure about Billups, being 41 and all. He definitely deserves to go out that way I believe :)
