Jennings overall is 71 and Yao's is 62. Young Money is pretty underrated in this game, but with that in mind, NBA Live 10 did introduce him as a rookie. Yao on the other had has taken a rapid decline, but you can over-achieve with anyone who has size in this game and Yao has plenty of that still.

Ouch! major decline indeed... well, it definitely adds to making this season one of the most anticipated and challenging of all!

I know. It would be kind of liberating in a way though, you couldn't really say "Well, that player shouldn't be doing that." It really would be your own reality.

So was it the injuries, or just aging that took a toll on Yao's rating? Either way, he's still a great addition to the team. (Y)

I would be an interesting experiment to see what the league would look like 25 years after the inaugeral dynasty year. At the moment my main goal is 10 seasons, because I have a few ideas for articles and what not during the 10th. But you never know; this game could last 25 one way or another.

As Brit posted,if you finish the dynasty, the most players will be generated

Martti. wrote:George7, all of them will.

Unless Jrue Holiday plays until he's 45 (or any other player who is born in 1990), I think every player would be generated 25 years in. It'd be an interesting experiment to do though. I know Jennings is an 89 kid... maybe I should get Jrue Holiday just in case

Thanks George7, I've really enjoyed playing this so far and it's hard to see me giving up on it actually. The "Robert Parish" of dynasties possibly?

I'll admit Martti, the acquisition of Jennings has got me excited about this season :D

Durantula_MVP wrote:It's amazing. 20 Years :applaud: And you get a young back-up for Mr. Big Shot

And the truly amazing thing is, his game has barely deteorated as well. It'd be easier to let him part ways if he was declining rapidly, but Chauncey Billups is still a mid-80s rating player. Age isn't a barrier with me when someone can still get it done.

Apart from maybe Blake Griffin and Stephen Curry, I noticed the rookies of that draft class haven't developed too far along really. Not to mention that from year one, all the way to about year 7, Brandon Jennings was behind Charlie Bell in the rotation

As for Yao, his decline has purely been from an athletic point of view. He's slow, but I'm hoping he'll have the same skill-set (ie: perimeter shot) and at his height, he can still possibly have exaggerated defensive numbers.

Funny that you say "own reality", because an idea I've been having is once this dynasty is done is that I wanted to create a universe that picks up where it leaves off. Kind of like a next generation of ballers. I guess all the Kevin Smith videos I've been watching have inspired the idea

Hyperize. wrote:So was it the injuries, or just aging that took a toll on Yao's rating? Either way, he's still a great addition to the team. (Y)

I would say aging really. A lot of players have taken a steep decline as they've gotten older (Gerald Wallace is now an IR player ). Since Yao played the 2009-2010 season, I thought it'd be a reasonable time to add the injury story.

ximike wrote:Barry has a set of 78 and a speed index of 94, while Billups had 85 and a set of the same speed, rather. If you are looking for him and rolls could not find a weak point possible, I suppose

I'm guessing you're referring to the 2017 playoffs. Luckily Dakota Barry's speed didn't come into play much... but then again, not many teams providing an overwhelming challenge in that entire post-season.

Without further stalling for time, here's the first 5 games of the season

5 Game Summary

After winning 16 straight games in the playoffs, Denver have picked up where they left off, starting the 2017-2018 season off 5-0. However it could have easily been 0-1, as you will find out in the feature game of the round. The Nuggets blew out LeBron's Suns, while they easily accounted for Sacramento. Minnesota and Oklahoma City provided tougher games, but the result was still the same. Denver have started the season in sparkling form and here's the game that set the tone:

Billups Heroics And Impressive Debutants Clinch OT Win

Image

The Denver Nuggets managed to escape with their first win of the season, claiming victory in overtime against the Lakers 94-91. However it was LA who had a 3 point lead in the dying stages of regulation thanks to contributions from Theo Hadsen (22 points), Andrew Bynum (19 points, 14 rebounds) and Mike Conley (19 points, 10 assists). With the last play of the game, they needed some heroics from a reliable source to send it into overtime:

phpBB [video]

In the OT period, Denver managed to hang on to record a 3 point victory as 6 players chipped in with double figures. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 19 points. Little known shooting guard Garth Vine was impressive on his Nuggets debut with 17 points off the bench. Key signing Brandon Jennings was also solid with 15 in his first game in the Denver jersey. Reigning MVP J.R. Smith had a quiet game with 12 points, while Billups registered 11, including that amazing last second play. Borislav Perko was the last of the double-figure scorers for Denver, narrowly missing a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

This game was a lucky escape for Denver and proves once again that you can't count someone out based purely on age alone.

Ready to step up?
Image
Borislav Perko has put up some great numbers at the start of his sophomore campaign. In fact, against the Suns he became the 3rd player in this dynasty to record a triple double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists... add 5 blocks to that and you have a stat line anyone would be proud of. So what are his numbers like over the first 5 games? Here they are:

15.8ppg 9.8rpg 3.8apg 3.2bpg

Do Denver have themselves a legimate scorer in the post now?

Back to it
Image
J.R. Smith didn't light the world on fire with his first 4 games, but he had a nice outing against Oklahoma City (and the big perimeter defender in the league). He scored 29 points to show that he can still be the man.

Proving a point
Image
Robin Lopez is out to prove this season that he deserves to be known as more than the guy who is in the Birdman's shadow. He did this by grabbing 19 rebounds against the Kings. He's signed for 4 years and games like this prove he's a good investment.

----------------------------------------

Next 5 Games

DAL

NOH
POR
@CLE

This season I'm judging the games by their merits instead of a predetermined feature game. Hope it's a format that will keep things interesting.

----------------------------------------

Well, it didn't take me long to abandon my play-5-sim-5 idea. The fact is, bringing Jennings to the side has someone given this dynasty a new lease on life and myself a renewed interest in the game. So the deal will be I'll play til I lose.

I love how casual the replay makes Billups look, first your calm dribbling around to run down the clock and get into position and then having him turn and run back down the court before he's even seen the ball go in. Mr Big Shot indeed.

Great start to the season, looks like Perko could develop into quite a player.

It's funny because in the end the play looks pretty arrogant, but I was actually looking to pass the ball to Melo. He ended up setting a screen and I thought: hell, I'll let Chauncey take this one, and the rest is history I guess.

I was thinking of activating Yao is December because I really like the rotations at the moment. I might hold him off while my big men are in such good form, because at the moment, I don't particularly need him all that much.

King Dee wrote:Great W.. btw who are the newbies in ur team?

The newbies are two that everyone knows (Yao and Jennings) and two generated players. I got Garth Vine from OKC in exchange for Shannon Brown and my first round pick, while George Power came from Washington in exchange for Taj Gibson, Sam Conners and my second rounder. I got the two generated guys to give me some roster flexibility, but Garth Vine has proven to be quite capable.

I figured it was about time I did it that way. This way all the best games are the ones that are feature. I'm hoping that Perko has a stellar season because he's the only one elligible for Rookie Challenge selection I believe.

As I said above, I was looking for Melo and I don't trust the game when it comes to my passing lanes, so I tried to get close to him and he set a screen for me. The aftermath of that was all Billups though... he so knew that was going in

I really hope Perko develops into something because if I can get a legitimate post scorer who is young, I can see it giving this dynasty even more longevity since I've never really had a post scorer. Both Beasley and Maximilian were jump shooters playing at the power forward, so hopefully it'll be a new challenge.

Welcome :) it's always nice to have a new reader on board.

I simmed 3 seasons and half of the 3rd. I played every game in season 4 and 8 though and the majority of 1 and 2. Denver are my favourite team, so it's easy to commit to them because ultimately, I want to see them win it all. I don't think they're too far away in real life, hence another reason why I chose them.

The best players in the league are generated for the most part, but LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant are perenial all-stars as well as Stephen Curry and Blake Griffin from last year's draft class. Not to forget that J.R. Smith won the MVP last season :)

Sasha is a real player on a bench of the generated

It's 2017: prominant players of the 2010 game such as Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitzki have all retired. A bunch of other stars are either on the way out or declining. Every playoffs series Denver compete in, they come across the team that's almost completely full of generated players, which begs the question; who exactly is left of the real guys?

I've compiled a list of players from each team who are still playing. Some may surprise you in more ways than one.

Here's the list:

Atlanta: *Tyrus Thomas, *Marvin Williams, *Russell Westbrook, Nate Robinson (4)

Boston: *Brook Lopez, *Michael Beasley, Yi Jianlian (3)

Charlotte: *Charlie Villanueva, *Kevin Love, Terrence Williams (3)

Chicago: *Derrick Rose, Zaza Pachulia, Roko Ukic (2)

Cleveland: *OJ Mayo, Amare Stoudemire (2)

Dallas: *Josh Smith, Sasha Vujacic (2)

Denver: *Chris Andersen, *Carmelo Anthony, *J.R. Smith, *Chauncey Billups, Brandon Jennings, Jordan Hill, Patrick Mills, Robin Lopez, Nicolas Batum, Yao Ming (10)

Detroit: *Danny Granger, Demar Derozan, Paul Millsap (3)

Golden State: *Andris Biedrins, *Brandan Wright, *Monta Ellis, *Jordan Farmar, Travis Outlaw (5)

Houston: *Kyle Lowry, Luol Deng (2)

Indiana: *Al Horford, *Courtney Lee, *Marcus Williams, Gerald Wallace (4)

LA Clippers: Sean Williams, James Harden (2)

LA Lakers: *Andrew Bynum, *Mike Conley, Ryan Anderson (3)

Memphis: *LaMarcus Aldridge, *Blake Griffin, Rashad McCants (3)

Miami: *Andrea Bargnani, Marcin Gortat, Al Thornton (3)

Milwaukee: *Andrew Bogut, *Eric Gordon, Glen Davis, Anthony Morrow (4)

Minnesota: *Al Jefferson, *Kevin Durant, Alexis Ajinca (3)

New Jersey: *Thaddeus Young, *Rodney Stuckey, Trevor Ariza, Ronnie Brewer, Renaldo Balkman (5)

New Orleans: *Jason Thompson, *Chris Paul, Roy Hibbert (3)

New York: *Rajon Rondo, Delonte West (2)

Oklahoma City: Shannon Brown (1)

Orlando: *Dwight Howard, *Wilson Chandler, *Deron Williams, Josh McRoberts (4)

Philadelphia: *Spencer Hawes, Jerryd Bayless, Gabe Pruitt, DeAndre Jordan, Carl Landry (5)

Phoenix: *Greg Oden, *Amir Johnson, *LeBron James, *Stephen Curry (4)

Portland: *Jeff Green, *Brandon Roy, Josh Boone (3)

Sacramento: *Joakim Noah, *Andre Iguodala, *Dwyane Wade, Dacquan Cook (4)

San Antonio: *Rudy Gay, *Aaron Brooks, Joe Alexander (3)

Toronto: Chris Bosh (1)

Utah: *Danilo Gallinari, *Mario Chalmers, *DJ Augustin, Austin Daye (4)

Washington: Taj Gibson, Randy Foye (2)

------------
*Starters
------------

The Facts

-There are 100 real players that are on an NBA squad in some fashion.

-Apart from Denver, who have 10, the most real players an NBA squad has is 5.

-Every team except for 4 have atleast one real starter.

-All of the Suns' 4 real players are starters

-Shannon Brown is the only real player on the Thunder squad... and he was traded there in a draft day deal.

The Surprises

-Gerald Wallace is now an injury reserve player. He is rated 62, which makes me wonder whether NBA Live 10 has taken into account his reckless style of play and made his physical attributes decline.

-Despite being only a 59 rating player, Sasha Vujacic isn't on the IR. Despite being a bench warmer on a horrible team, he's still there.

-Gabe Pruitt has not only managed to get on an NBA squad, but he's rated the same as Brandon Jennings (71).

-Chris Bosh is now a 6th man on the Toronto Raptors, where he could most likely get a starting job if he was playing for Miami.

------------------------------

I thought this would create a good discussion point. Feel free to discuss some of your surprises as well :)

------------------------------

Edit: I actually forgot one player in the list, so there's actually 101. Rudy Fernandez; how could I overlook you? He is a starter for the Memphis Grizzlies

The Mo is back!

I'm not talking about Morris Peterson, but the thing many great (and not so great) players have had in the past; the mustache. Being the month of November, I thought it'd be a great idea to pay tribute to some of the greatest taches the game has ever seen in light of this retro fashion:

Image
Adam Morrison was a stud in Gonzaga... but his epic mo is the thing everyone's going to remember him for... atleast in this dynasty.

Image
4 time NBA champion and the hustle player poster boy Kurt Rambis had a killer mo back in his prime.

Image
The great Celtics-Lakers rivalry was at it's best when staches were involved. Just ask Greg Kite, whose seen here guarding Kareem Adbul-Jabbar

Image
And possibly the greatest of them all. Larry Bird's mo was so badass, you could barely see it. Larry Bird is great for so many reasons and he endorses the stache.

Anyway, that article was pretty much for Axel... I hope the rest of you enjoyed it too :)

Melo,LeBron and Bosh I believe are 33 since they were all born in 84. Melo and LeBron are still playing at a high level while Bosh has declined into a handy bench player. I still wouldn't mind having him on my team, but his overall is in the low 70s; not very Bosh-like at all.
