Grats on Fo-Fo-Fo-Fo! Suprised that Billups and Birdman can still play. If you sign Yao then Fropez playing time will reduce.

At this stage in your dynasty, Yao would also be a dinosaur, so I don't know how the signing would work. Anyways, I'd like to see Yao fit into your story. :D

Playoffs sweep, wow man. Incredible job. Yao would be a nice fit for you, thought I don't like him

Congrats on capping off an incredible run with another championship. As others have said, this Dynasty is definitely HOF bound, nice work as always on the coverage. Glad to hear that Billups and Andersen are sticking around. (Y)

Hey my friend i am a big fan of your dynasty and have read it all but only just made an account on here so havent commented until now.

I think its great the way you set it out with pics and vids and you have inspired me to start my own! Sadly I am unable to include pictures and videos though.

Hope you continue to have fun playing!

Have their ratings decline much?

Their ratings really haven't declined at all. Birdman's has stayed pretty much the same and basically Billups is still in the mid-80s... which is a rating I'll take no matter how old a player is; particularly if they're asking for less than 4 million a year. It's quite possibly a glitch in the game engine, but it's one I'm willing to take advantage of if I'm being honest

I know, it's surprising me as well. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a cut-off age or whether it's based on how much their role has been reduced. I noticed that Grant Hill retired pretty much after spending a season on IR; so who knows, if Billups keeps being a starter, he could set a new record here... or atleast surpass Robert Parish's years in the NBA.

I think he's 37 at the moment in my game, so yeah... he'll be the third oldest player on my team... if I sign him.

Thierry. wrote:Playoffs sweep, wow man. Incredible job. Yao would be a nice fit for you, thought I don't like him

I'm not a huge fan of Yao myself, but I am a huge fan of a comeback story. Since Yao played in the 2009-2010 season, I thought it'd be a good time to incorporate his real life injury since his game has taken a huge decline and he spent the entire 2016-2017 year on free agency.

Andrew wrote:Congrats on capping off an incredible run with another championship. As others have said, this Dynasty is definitely HOF bound, nice work as always on the coverage. Glad to hear that Billups and Andersen are sticking around. (Y)

I was hoping they would stick around; well, atleast Chauncey anyway. I knew if he did, it'd be his 20th season in the NBA and that's not something a lot of players achieve.

Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the board. I commented on your dynasty just before; it looks good so far. I had the same problem as you at first when it came to incorporating pictures, but I also know that PS3 internet is free as long as you have a connection. Photos of players in real life often work to help your story along and give your thread a nice looking layout, but they're by no means essential if your basic template is easy to read.

It's always gratifying knowing that someone has taken inspiration from something you've written :)

Off-Season: Re-signing players

Super-sub in for two more

Image

Reigning 6th man of the year Jordan Hill has signed a 2 year contract with the Denver Nuggets. It's reported that he'll earn around about 11 million dollars from it. Despite interest from other clubs, Hill had no intention to leave Denver unless he didn't get an offer in the ball park of what he wanted.

Fropez to stick around

Image

Despite the renewal of Chris Andersen's contract, Robin Lopez has re-signed with Denver for another 4 years. It was uncertain to whether he would return with the news that the Birdman was playing on, but Denver management convinced him that he was an important player to the Nuggets' future in the league.

Brown signs for two; but is rumoured in trade?

Image

While Shannon Brown re-signed for another two years, his contract could be used as a trade chip in this year's draft. Denver are rumoured to be looking for a more youthful wing player to come off the bench.

Pecherov waived

Image

As expected, centre Oleksiy Pecherov has been allowed to walk from the Denver Nuggets. He was acquired in the three team deal with Utah and Miami early last season and wasn't given much of a chance to shine with Denver.

NBA Draft Day

Denver have picks number 30 and 60

Denver trade Shannon Brown and First Rounder for OKC's Garth Vine

Image

The Denver Nuggets made a draft day trade, giving away their first round pick and Shannon Brown for the Thunder's Garth Vine. With best players available all being power forwards, it seemed like the logical move from Denver as that's a position that's well taken care of at this point. Shannon Brown spent 6 seasons with the Nuggets, winning 3 championship rings along the way.

Even though Garth Vine (30) is younger than Brown, it's not as young as Denver were originally willing to go.

Denver send two big men, second rounder to Washington for George Power

ImageImage

The Nuggets have traded seldom used big men Taj Gibson and Sam Conners, along with their second round pick to the Wizards for power forward George Power. This is believed to be a cost efficient move to have the flexibility to go for a free agent this summer looking for an MLE-esque contract.

Off-Season: Free Agency

Giant comeback in the making

Image

After a year out with a potentially career threatening injury, perenial all-star Yao Ming is making his return to the NBA in the Denver Nuggets uniform. He signed a one year deal reportedly worth 2 million dollars.

Denver steals Young Money

Image

Denver have had one of the big wins of the free agency, signing Brandon Jennings for 4 years at the MLE. An excellent scorer who can get his team-mates involved, Jennings will be an excellent player off the bench for Denver; in fact, he is a former 6th man award winner... he'll join former winner Taylor MacKenzie and incumbent Jordan Hill.

Prologue

While this season is about defending the crown as much as anything, it's hard to overlook Chauncey Billups returning for his 20th season at the top level. He's no spring chicken, but try telling him that he can't compete with the best of them. A ferocious competitor, Chauncey Billups doesn't know when to relent, and his storied career over 20 seasons is proof of this. From the guy who bounced from team-to-team early in his career, this will be his 10 straight season in his native Denver uniform.

As far as the team is concerned, they along with Billups are getting old. Their starters with the exception of Borislav Perko are well over 30; so the emphasis is to win now. Along with the starters, the more youthful bench will come into play, with the steal of the free agency Brandon Jennings arriving in the Mile High City to bolster the second unit. And let's not forget the comeback story, Yao Ming. Despite his previous successes, he won't be a walk-up-start in this team. He faces his toughest challenge ever to just get minutes on a formidable Denver side; but if anyone can do it, Yao Ming can.

Season 9 should prove to be another intriguing installment of The Next Level, so stick around and see what happens next.

The 2017-2018 Squad

In: Yao Ming (free agency), Brandon Jennings (free agency), Garth Vine (via Oklahoma City), George Power (via Washington)
Out: Shannon Brown (traded to Oklahoma City), Taj Gibson (traded to Washington), Sam Conners (traded to Washington), Oleksiy Pecherov (free agency)

--------------------------------------------------

As I mentioned before, I might take a play-5-sim-5 approach to this year of the dynasty as an experiment. I don't completely trust the simulation, so this way I can kind of control the result of the season still. I'm hoping it throws me an injury or two because it's the only way I've seen players get injured in this game.

Anyway, I'll try and get some results up soon :)

That was certainly a productive offseason, hope Yao sees some court time. I'm guessing his ratings are a bit ordinary by this point but with his size he might be able to overachieve. Nice pickup in Jennings as well. Any other big moves around the league?

Yao and Jennings! :headbang:

Are Garth Vine, Basil Richter, and George Power porn mustache players? Why I ask? I think it's funny how you reference game-generated players to porn, cracks me out. :)

Young Money & the Great Wall!... sooo stoked/impressed by your off-season wizardry! though the 5/5, play/sim format scares me a bit given Yao's fragility... even so, this has jumped to one of my fav dynasties ever! keep on truckin' my man (Y)

Jennings for the MLE? Get that 40-year old Billups to the bench and let 'Yung Buck' take over!

I don't know, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I say let Billups keep starting as long as he's producing while perhaps grooming Jennings as his successor, if he pans out.

9th season is awesome. You must love this game. :)

The biggest move was probably Chris Paul going back the Hornets after a tenures in Utah and Philly. I also noticed that Demar DeRozen is with the Pistons now. Yao's ratings have slipped a lot, but it's been his physical attributes (which really is to be expected). I think I might activate him after I've gotten back into the swing of things.

Thanks Thierry; I'm really looking forward to playing with Young Buck :)

Garth Vine has a goatee, Basil Richter has some serious stubble and George Power is clean shaven... so none of them apart of the mustache brigade. I'm thinking of doing a story during the season about it; it's just a matter of taking pictures of guys sporting the trend.

Thanks Clutch, means a lot that this one is has gone into your all-time. Keep on reading and I'll keep on writing :)

Jennings overall is 71 and Yao's is 62. Young Money is pretty underrated in this game, but with that in mind, NBA Live 10 did introduce him as a rookie. Yao on the other had has taken a rapid decline, but you can over-achieve with anyone who has size in this game and Yao has plenty of that still.

It will all depend on how they both play and what the dynamic is like... unfortunately with Jennings on the team, Patrick Mills will be an afterthought, but with Billups possibly on the way out, it was an opportunity I couldn't refuse. I plan on giving him plenty of court time during the season. He'll have an opportunity to shine; don't you guys worry about that (y)

BritNBAfan wrote:I'm amazed you still find it fun to play this after 9 years!! Good job keeping it fresh with your off season moves!!

Acquiring guys in the off-season helps a lot. New players provide new challenges and new ways to think about the game. While I believe in keeping a core of talent, I have a lot of turnover when it comes to players coming in and out.

Phil89 wrote:9th season is awesome. You must love this game. :)

Both guys have called it quits. Last time I say KG, he was playing for the Warriors and Kobe finished up with the Lakers a few seasons ago.

The crazy thing is, with the Jennings signing, it feels like this season could be the most interesting one of all. The game is still fun and I love the Nuggets so I might be doing this dynasty for a while yet.

Good to hear. (Y) This might be the first Dynasty HOF inductee to run the full 25 seasons...I expect it will be the longest running, if it isn't already.
