DUNKS AND LAY UPS ALSO FOULS

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

DUNKS AND LAY UPS ALSO FOULS

Postby yourlifeismine on Tue Jul 01, 2008 7:21 am

I THINK THERE SHOULD BE TWO DIFFERENT BUTTONS FOR A DUNK & LAY UP.BECAUSE THERE MIGHT BE A SOMEONE IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU CAN TRY A LAY UP.BUT IN NBA LIVE 08 YOU USUALLY DUNK ON SOMEONES HEAD PLUS THE FOUL.I ALSO THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE A LITTLE HARDER TO GET AN AND 1.EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND DUNK ON SOMEONES HEAD I GET AND AND 1 EVEN ON LAY UPS I NEVER MISS SO IT GETS DUMB.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???????

EA experimented with that in NBA Live '07 and got mixed reviews from the players. Me personally, I like that the dunk/layup button is just one button and the situation on the court in-game dictates whether or not a player dunks or lays it in. I like also how they took player abilities into consideration. Anyway, that's just my take on it.

Seperating dunk and layup seemed like a good idea and it had its advantages but ultimately I prefer a combined button that is contextually based.

i prefer one shoot button!! meaning one button for jumpshot, layup and dunks.. just like nba live 2003 in ps1 haha i remember that they have direct shoot button where you can select a dunk, a lay-up or an alley-oop.. for example holding L2 (i can't remember if this is the directshoot) + triangle results to a dunk

That worked for a long time but the ability to force a dunk or layup (or runner) is handy.

I think that it should not be an absolute walk in the park to drive in the lane, but it shouldn't be impossible either.

I think that the AI in Live '09 will be greatly improved and there will be more of a challenge when a player tries to take it to the basket.

It wasn't horrible, but I like the setup that Live '08 employs better. Just something less to think about so I can just focus on playing the game.

Do like NBA Street. Dunk by pressing the button once, and tapping it twice does a layup. So you have complete control, but it doesn't take away the freakin' drop step/pro hop button. The two buttons would have been cool, except I never took layups, and it made it too hard to do pro hops/drop steps. Also it was too hard to only press the layup button with like Steve Nash or someone. If you pressed the dunk button with him, or too far away from the basket with some other players, it would just kind of like stumble and throw the ball up.

That was one of its biggest problems, since at some point you were bound to press the Dunk button by accident with someone you shouldn't.

i was thinking that they can probably go with holding the dunk/layup button results in a dunk, and one tap for layups. They were able to do the hold pass button for lobs and tap for normal pass so why not do that for dunk and layups?

personally, i prefer one button for dunk and lay-up.. 'coz having 2 separate buttons for those was like having a turnover button when controlling players who can't dunk..

i think the best way is to have holding down turbo plus shoot button for dunks then shoot button only for layups then we can still have the freestyle air by tapping the shoot button again when attempting a dunk
