Something big coming for Live 09

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

Something big coming for Live 09

Postby JaoSming on Fri Jun 13, 2008 8:01 am

I’m not surprised that NBA LIVE, which jumped 15 points in review scores a year ago, has the most ground-breaking feature from our lineup this year and we’ll unveil it next month at E3.

From Peter Moore's blog here
http://itsinthegame.ea.com/archive/2008 ... urels.aspx

Im curious about it since something huge is supposed to be coming for NHL as well and this is supposed to be bigger.
Opinions are my own.

Maybe Skills challenge and Shooting stars ? That's big enough for EA I guess..

in the interview they mentioned practice drills or something of the sort, so it might be something else that they aren't allowed to talk about yet.

my guess is that it has something to do with a combination of Online Team Play and Dynasty mode

I'm with Pdub on this one. We'll see what it is... in due time.

I just had a thought on what it might be, and this would be defined as groundbreaking.

What if EA made it possible for players with a 360 to play against ps3 owners online? They would have to create in-game buddy system to keep track of cross platform friends and you wouldn't be able to invite anyone from the ps3 via the dashboard, but it would be one hell of a step in online console gaming.

I hope its gameplay related not online related. It better not be any new online news because they need to work more on gameplay and franchise more than they do online. Maybe its a new mode or something owner mode.

what? you mean like the layup line drills that they have in College Hoops 2k series? looks good enough, but definitely nothing to rave about under any circumstances....I doubt that is it....

well it would be cool to be able to practice rebounding or something like that. they would throw up a brick and have you fight a CPU teammate for it.

and Pdub on 2k7, I was able to play a few players on the Xbox360 (with my ps3) it was strange.

My gut feeling is that it's online related since that seems to be the way games are headed these days. Whatever is is, I'm guessing I'll see what it is at the community event and then have to keep quiet about it until after E3.

I wonder if you'll be able to say if it is an online component or not since with that NHL thing OS said its NDA'd but everyone is saying that it has something to do with the online pert of the game.

Probably not. I'd probably have to refrain from even vaguely commenting on whether I was impressed by it or not since you guys could probably guess what it involves given my stance on what I'd like to see improved and the importance I place on different game modes.

Maybe they'll add Create-a-Team ala NHL and FIFA. Practice drills seem exiting, but what you really use it for? Something cool like Simmer League or D-League in Dynasty Mode would be more superior.

But the most ground-breaking thing will be a bug-free Live 09. They have the technology..

I think Brian said there wouldn't be Create-a-Team in one of the Q&As.

Correcto, and they have already confirmed more FIBA teams as well. The NBDL idea would definitely switch things up a bit. A little farm system in dynasty wouldnt be bad at all.

Anything is big for EA at this point I seriously dont think that what ever it is will live up to the hype, suchas Freestyle Superstar Version 1 and 2, Dynasty over the Season fatigue, All had high hopes but wasn't good as we thought

I like that idea, JaoSming. How about the possibility of sending players down to the NBDL and then being able to call them up later?

Anyway, I hope it's gameplay related or a new mode or some cool innovation for Dynasty mode.
