It's much improved man...it still has some issues with animations and stuff but for the most part it's a huge step up.
One thing that really caught my attention is that when you look at the playbooks this year EA set them up almost exactly the way I've been assigning team set plays the past few years meaning they no longer have Quick Plays as the base playbook
They set up things using an actual designed play and it also tells you who the Play is designed for by player name.
Kinda how we used the top 3 players on each team in years past and assigned them the bulk of the playbook.
So, now you see more movement out of the CPU right away.
Yeah, I been playing it. When I get the roster updates I'm gonna start tweaking the player edits. I've done it for a two teams already and I'm right. the player ratings do affect the animations. You don't have to tweak as much because EA fixed most of the problems.
In this game you REALLY have to play defense, I have to work on mine, cause for some reason I can't stop the computer. If you don't play this game with patience your gonna get blown out lol.
there's an actual season mode right? based on what you told me i'll buy this game instead of nba 2k9. so far there are no negative feedbacks yet.
The thing that pissed me off, is the Defense in the game. For some reason I can't get the lockdown D Down. . .I don't see what I'm doing wrong. And at times it's hard to make stops consistently,Trying to Stop D-Wade is like trying to stop a Freight Train. lol. He goes off. But I picked Cleveland and the computer couldn't stop LeBron James lol.
Another thing, You can't really get off post moves, for some reason I keep getting blocked. So I don't really use those moves.
But really, the game is somewhat enjoyable, I find myself interacting with the game, something I never did last year, and did more with 2k8. I think it's worth the pick up, but for Dynasty mode. I'm gonna use 2k for player to player games

so it's difficult to defend the top offensive player of each team. i usually double team their top players if they're starting to dribble from the outside.

Difficult but I wouldn't say impossible. Lockdown Defense takes some getting used to, I'd definitely recommend the 5 on 5 scrimmages and a few exhibitions before diving into a Dynasty.

try the one on one defense drill in the academy (the freestyle moves). I played as DMase vs Kevin Durant and it teaches you not to mash the L2 left trigger or else you get burned a lot.

Agreed, the Academy definitely helps.

i cant say live 09 is bad or good cause i didnt buy live for the first time this year..
maybe if i have a friend who has it..and then i'll ask him to loan me it for a while to try the full game out
and andrew you probably know there will be a few bugs...the 360 graphics are basically better or you can tell the difference this year by the pictures at the 2k forums..overall the gameplay changed a bit..i only had it for 2 days so i didnt test everything out yet..and oh yea the inbound glitch provided me to get 58 rebounds with OJ Mayo and 177 points in the 3rd quarter..then the timeout didnt end..and i tried to exit the game and it froze..other than that i like 2k9
are there any bugs in live 09??? pictures of 1080p tv.??

Jerald Honeycutt, I would suggest checking out Andrew's Community Day Report, as I believe he answers this question....I'm pretty sure there is only an option for 82 game season in Live due to way they've set up Dynasty Mode....

Correct, it's 82 games only again.

I've been playing NBA games since the first NBA Jam on the MegaDrive / Genesis 15 years ago but this is the first Live game I've ever bought
I felt like I needed a change from both 2K's and Sony's series and seeing Live 09 for the bargain price of £29.99 at Game was all the persuasion I needed
First impressions are generally good although I'm still getting used to it. The one thing that I find really difficult though is blocking, there seems to be too much of a delay between pressing the block button and your player actually going up for the block. Unless I'm missing something?

There is a bit of delay which takes a bit of getting used to. The thing to remember is that players gather themselves before going up for a block, which isn't really an issue if the player is stationary but if you're running towards a player you need to time it so that the defender will gather and jump at the right time.

Doesn't matter, it's still locked to 82 games no matter what.

I think that blocking is easier if you can time your button press with the foot gather of the player taking the shot or layup. I tried this in the NBA Academy when practicing defense on fast breaks. As long as I stayed in front of the ballhandler and pressed the block button around the moment the ballhandler gathered there feet for a layup or dunk, it was a block. I was controlling Greg Oden, so obviously that helped. I played online and was using the same technique and ended up blocking several inside shots in the opening quarter.
I'm not sure about blocking from behind or as a help defender at the moment, since I just got the game today.
