The Bobcats remain a challenging option. Celtics, Spurs, Lakers and Cavs would all be good if you want a ready made team that you can also tweak or completely rebuild if you like.

Finally found an NBA Live forum, got linked through the EA one :P

Anyways, I got this game a couple of days ago (been playing it pretty compulsively).

Took the Suns for my first Dynasty season, have not simmed any games, play 5 min qtrs All-Star for now. I'll probably sim after my first "full" season. Anyways, here's my team:

C - Dwight Howard
PF - Antawn Jamison
SF - Ron Artest
SG - Leandro Barbosa (if anyone knows any good trades I can make for him, let me know, been trying to get rid of him for a while)
PG - Nash (likely MVP, 33.8 PPG, 7.2 APG)

Bench: R. Westbrook, E. Thomas, J.Moon, C. Sims, D. Greene, T. Allen, C. Quinn, D. Jackson. and L. Amundson (even tho my bench rarely sees any gametime)

Cap Room: 558K (up from -4Mil), we're 50-1 (or 51-1, can't remember).

If anyone has any trade-tips they'd like to give me, I greatly appreciate it, for now, I've been using Trade Block (way too hard to get other teams to accept my offers). Would love a Manu Ginobili :P

Welcome to the Forum! Pretty solid team you've got there, some players with enough value to make some good deals and a great player to build around in Dwight Howard. What kind of player were you looking for in return for Barbosa?

Re: Rate My Team

Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:19 am

Thanks =D

And for Barbosa, I've been thinking a solid catch-and-shoot kind of player would make a good addition, with Howard/Jamison I've got a pretty strong attacking force down low, but most of my catch-and-shoots seem to fail. So basically a shooting guard with good perimeter shooting.

Yeah you got a beast team a u should consider posting recaps for games . But your team is reall good especially Nash 33 points!

Re: Rate My Team

Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:15 am

Thanks again, and it's up to 36.2 PPG and 8.3 APG now :P He also leads in SPG, Steals overall, Assists overall, Fieldgoals made and attemped, and Freethrows made and attempted.

I did a quick test-sim for the rest of the season (16 games left), and I lost in the Finals to the Pistons. That's not a big deal since I know I can go back and win it by hand, but I lost the MVP for some reason. Mo Williams won it with much lesser stats. Anyone know why that would happen?

Sometimes the game makes odd selections for its award winners, not altogether unlike real life but often a bit more perplexing. Sometimes it will go for the player with the best all around stats, ignoring that another player is posting tremendous numbers in one or two categories and is on a dominant team.

Re: Rate My Team

Fri Feb 27, 2009 8:17 pm

Well, I'm back with news :P

I finished playing most of the games of the regular season by hand, then simmed the last 5 or so (it was the Grizzles twice, Minnesota, and I think the Kings). Finished with a 79-3 record, Nash ended up winning the MVP afterall, Dwight got Defensive Player of the Year, and both got NBA All 1st Team, so good news.

I simmed through most of the playoffs (had to save myself on a 3-3 against the Spurs), and ended up winning it against the Celtics :D Nash got Finals MVP :P

I'm excited about the offseason and the draft + trades now. Hopefully I'll be able to move out Artest/Nash/Barbosa for some younger players and give it another run in 09-10.

If anyone has any advice on team choices, let me know.

Man 79-3? What level are youplaying on! Man your teams a beast but Nash only has like a couple years to play at that level so yeah I would trade him for a younger pg or you could see if theres a point guard who is supposed to be good in the draft and trade Nash for that 1st round pick and a player to even out the trade

Re: Rate My Team

Sat Feb 28, 2009 2:07 pm

I'm actually a little embarrassed (okay, a lot) to admit this, but I made a rookie mistake and when I made the Suns Dynasty I've been talking about, selected Season instead of Dynasty, so I had to start all over again :(

I'm now running a Heats Dynasty (to make it more interesting), on the correct setting :P

Got Derrick Rose on the Draft, so I'm hoping we can at least make the playoffs.

Re: Rate My Team

Sat Feb 28, 2009 2:51 pm

Man so all this 79-3 and trading Nash !off- season was all on season mode LOL . But its gonna be fun you got a mini big three with Jermaine O'neal , Dwade , & Derrick Rose

Re: Rate My Team

Sat Feb 28, 2009 7:49 pm

Well I finished the season already with the Heat (loving simulated games :P) ended up #2 in the East and 3rd overall. Currently in the NBA Finals against the Lakers. Pretty sure Derrick Rose got RoY (I kinda forgot to check and skipped through it).

Tho Rose broke his foot during the first round of the playoffs, dropping my team ranking to 80 and pretty much making it so that the simulated version of games always came out to a loss for me, so I've had to manually play through it.

Really looking forward to the offseason. My team question comes to: Is it advisable to train players? So far I only go with simulated training whenever it comes up in the schedule. I'm pretty lost when it comes to the academy tbh.

It does help their development a little bit, the most drastic improvements (and later decline) takes place between seasons but training them through the season can help boost players a little bit quicker.

A how is Dwade playing?

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 12:12 am

Ok this is my 2013-14 season team .We are currently 15-0!!!!!!!!!!

J.Elson ( created PLayer)/ ( 99) Tim Duncan ( 70)
K.Bell (generated)(83)/ A.Ajinca (76)
SF Al Thornton (80)/ M.Meier ( generated) (75)
SG Oj Mayo ( 88)/ Rashad Mcants (77)
PG Dj Augustine (85) / Bayless (80)

Man this is the best team I have ever had this is the best start we've ever had the only trade I did was Danny Granger (83) and a srub for Al Thornton ( 80) and Rashad Mcants ( 77) . So what do you think of my team guys!

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:21 am

As a matter of fact, Wade is kind of getting overshadowed by Rose, he didn't make the All-Star team, OR NBA 1st Team (not sure about 2nd, against, kinda rushed through that part by accident). I'm not entirely sure how I can increase his numbers.

So, Andrew, would you recommend that I go into the academy throughout the season and train them (aside from the scheduled "training reminders" the game gives me)?

I like your team Robert (though I don't really like created players), it's kind of sad to see a 70 ranking Tim Duncan though :(

Definitely a good team though, lots of 80s. Another 90 might help your case if you can pull off a good trade.

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 5:03 am

Yeah I love getting past superstars . I once had Kobe (72) , Steve Nash ( 63) , and Kevin Garnett (65) . I started all three out of respect and won 23 games!

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 5:05 am

And I just thought of trading both Augustine and Bayless for a 90+ PG? But I really don't knmow and its hgihly doubted that Im gonna do that cuz we are undeafeated and I don't want to messa nytng up and I don't wanna ruin our depth at the PG postion

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 5:46 am

Is K. Martin (78) and D. Wade (95) for Kobe (97) a good trade?

The CPU accepted it, but I'm not sure (I have a backup save for these type of situations :P )

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:38 am

Ha I do the same thing! I do a trade sim a few game sand see how the trade has worked out!

Aside from that I do not liek this trade at all! Your trading Kobe who is like 6 years younger than Kobe and Kevin Martin who si just as young for Kobe 97 . Well th only thign is D-Wade has a 95 overall now and he is only going to get better cuz he is younger and Kobe probaly won't and Kevin Martin is probally gonna reach a high of like 85 .So in the future this is how its gonna probally look lets say your in yr1 .In about 4 years this is hwo its gonna look

Kevin Martin ( 85) , D-Wade ( 97) for Kobe Bryant ( 98) is that a good trade?

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:23 am

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be a good idea and scrapped the save a while ago :P

I'm having a tough time starting the new season (I won the championship =D), I can't really make any good trades. Thanks to some unfortunate mistakes last season, I don't have O'Neal, so I have a ton of players in the 70s, 1 in the 80s (Rose), and 1 in the 90s (Wade).

So I can't decide if I want to go with "Grow and Improve" like last season (I won't get rookie of the year for sure, which limits the points I get by a lot), but I don't see myself winning MVP unless I can figure out how to make Wade score more in sims.

I'm also pretty weak inside, last season Bynum and Gasol had their way with my team inside, since my center and forwards are all in the 70s (mid to low).

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:50 am

Yeah I would just go with grow and Improve

Re: Rate My Team

Sun Mar 01, 2009 9:48 am

Wow, I just played 20 games of this season, without realizing that Rose wasn't playing. Since his injury, the CPU had put him as in recovery, and hadn't played him.

I want to kick myself.

Re: Rate My Team

Yeah that used to happen a couple times to me in my early dynasty's
