Andrew, can you tell me anything more about the Be A Pro mode?

Like, does it include free agency? Can you opt out of your contract? Can you nix trades, that involve yourself?

The Be A Pro mode is only for exhibition games. No career mode.

Ah, I see. Thanks for answering, Andreas.

You do get graded on your performance as the player you select, however. I wouldn't be surprised if the concept is eventually expanded into a career mode but for now it's just a single game mode.

Fri Aug 15, 2008 7:22 pm

The Boomers squad is pretty much correct, give or take a couple of players. I didn't have time to make note of everyone's ratings though.

Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:29 pm

Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:45 pm

Starting five are

No I don't. I'm pretty sure the roster is mostly correct, I'm not 100% sure Redhage was there but I'm pretty sure everyone else was.

Hi I Andrew. I have a PS3 and I just got this console just a few weeks ago. I just started playing NBA Live 2008 just as I got my ps3. I had this game since January but since I didnt have any ps3 I have no idea what's really in store for me.

I have some questions about the NBA Live 2009. Here are the questions.

1. Would NBA Live 2009 have an actual season mode (2008-09) for the PS3 version?

2. Would you be able to edit the shoes on a player that has already been included on the roster by EA Sports?

3. Out of curiosity how come the Boston Celtics home court is not called as the TD Banknorth Garden Arena. Are there some legalities involved in here?

4. Did EA try to copy the style of NBA 2k where player movements are realistic as possible?

Now I would base my decision on the answers that I would get from these questions that I posted here. If I'm satisified with what I read I would buy Live 2009 if not it's time for me to try NBA 2k9 :)

1. Yes, when you start a new Dynasty game, you have the option of selecting Dynasty or the Season as the type (Dynasty being multiseason, Season being just a single season).

2. Yes, you can edit gear this year.

3. I believe so, that's been the case with a couple of arenas including Boston in recent years.

4. I don't know about them copying 2K in this regard but that is what they're trying to do, yes.

thanks for the info. actually i tried selecting season under dynasty mode on nba live 2008 and it just gave me some schedules that were made up by live. i wanted a schedule that is that actual game schedule that I see on the nba's web site. if ea can bring this mode back then that would be great.

Sun Aug 17, 2008 12:29 pm

I'm not sure what you're talking about there, NBA Live 08 did use the 2007/2008 schedule though it also had the option of randomising the schedule. NBA Live 09 will offer a single season mode with the 2008/2009 NBA schedule.

i'm actually using a ps3 and im just stuck with dynasty mode where i have to select assistant coaches, trainers etc. but its great that live 2009 would have an actual season mode with the 2008-09 schedule on it.

Now for the nba academy will there be actuall drills/scrimmages that you and your team can do together or is just by yourself?
I personally like this idea by Live, so that i don't have to learn everything on the real NBA games :D

Does anyone no if nathan jawai is on the raptors roster.
Also does anyone no any full fiba rosters (ratings if u no to)

Yes, there are team drills and you can take part in a five-on-five scrimmage between the players on your team (you can also choose who will be on each squad so you can do starters vs bench or mix it up as you please). The only thing you can't work on in the Academy is free throws which is unfortunate but you can hone your skills without having to worry about scores or a time limit with the scrimmages and practice certain skills with the various drills.

The Academy also has unlockable advanced drills and presumably there'll be some achievements attached to it, so even if you don't need the practice it'll provide something to do in between games. I'm also under the impression it's involved in player development in Dynasty Mode but I don't have any specifics on that.

If he was there before the roster cut off date then he is there, but if he isin't there is a thing that it will update the game everyday to make changes via rosters.

Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:01 am

The cutoff date as displayed on the intro screen in the build I played was July 15th, so presumably Jawai will be there. But as Clue? said, the NBA Live 365 updates will take care of missing players.

Out of curiousity. Kevin Garnett became a coverboy for both NBA Live 2001 and NBA 2k9 hehehe.

I thought I heard the cut off date would be later like maybe in the first week of August, I may be wrong dunno. Just from what i've heard in a interview

Andrew,

Did they fix the problem that 08 had where the computer would sub a point guard or guard in as a center? I played last night against Boston and they put Paul Pierce as center.
