Official NBA Live 09 Wishlist Thread

Forget all the graphics improvements, jerseys, shoes, stadiums, and crap. I'd prefer to play with stick figures and good gameplay.

That is,

1) crisper passing
2) good rebounding,
3) no skating
4) NO MORE BOUNCING OFF PLAYERS FOR FRIGGIN SAKE!,
5) Miss a Freaking layup for once. It's like when a player's in the paint, there's no chance in hell to stop him. The animation takes over and bypasses anything the defender does. THIS SUCKS!!!
6) Make the stinking bball looser. I mean that it seems like the ball is on a string when dribbled and when passed. I want to see more scrambles for loose balls. and out of bound saves.

I think a complete overhaul of the dynasty mode is needed. I would like to see dynasty mode with 3 screens.
Coach Screen:
1. Reorder Roster
2. Player Rotation
3. Coaching Style of Play (Fast Break, Halfcourt, Small Ball, 3 point Shooting, Erratic, Princeton style)
4. Plays (It gets annoying having to choose plays every game)
5. Defensive Strategy
6. Defensive Plays
7. Offensive/Defensive Agression Slider (A team that plays the passing lanes with help defense, or a team that plays man to man)
8. Coaches practice objectives to each player (Damon Jones needs to work on defense, Daniel Gibson needs to work on PG skills)
9. Edit player Screen w/ up to 3 player positions
10. Coaches AI (likes to get mad draw technicals, quickly takes players out not shooting well or not defending well)

GM Screen:
1. Trade Players Menu
2. Free Agent Menu
3. Rookie Scouting Menu
4. International scouting for non rookie players
5. Fire/Hire Coach/Scouts/Trainers at any point during the season

Owner Screen:
1. Budget
2. Income
3. Team Chemistry (players/coaches/gm)
4. Fire/Hire GM
5. Championship desire. (is he willing to spend for a championship)
6. Sell Team
7. Team Move
8. Fan Support

Make the game less-scripted. I like the plays we have in the game, but I think there should be more, especially for teams like Phoenix and GS that run and gun. And run quick pick and roll. I guess have a play called quick pick and roll.

Not every team walks the ball up and down the floor.

Should be able to change the tempo of every team in the options menu. You shouldn't have to change it to what you like in the 1st time out of the game. You should be able to set up every team's preference to make them play as real as possible.

Add some at-the half stuff with Marv and Who ever is taking over Steve Kerr's job

and in all star events there should be playstations skills challange...

allow the created teams to be used in dynasty or atleast the season mode.

fix the height of the rookies!!!

allow more than 3 players to be traded at the same time and allow draft picks to be traded in off season or draft night.

we need the ability to control more than one team in dynasty mode. we should at least be able to make trades for other teams, or override cpu trades. who started a dynasty with the lakers this year... and now the gasol trade wont go through? or the shaq trade? see what i mean? it should be an option when you are setting up dynasty mode. this would add realism imo. in madden you can control the whole league, play every team, every game. would that be too much to ask here?


superstar mode, like in madden, would be sweet. pick ANY player and you are locked on him for the rest of his career. when he sits on the bench, the game sims ahead til he comes back in. BE your favorite player.

since NCAA march madness 08 comes out in the same calander year, make it so you can draft your NCAA08 march madness players into nba live 09. no more generic players.... if you named the players in NCAA 08 that is.

1. Bring back the "fake" pass. It was an option on earlier versions. Assign button combos for it (i think it was pass+select before).

2. While we're on the subject of passing, improve the alley-oop physics and lessen the awkward passes that players with high passing ratings tend to to often.

3. Improve the CPU's inbound passing. By using raising my player's hand up (using the right analog stick), I successful complete a steal around 80% of the time. Most of my forwards average around double digits in steals during a 6 minute superstar game (using the NLSC rosters) with me doing so.

another thing, although it's a subtle thing that's not really needed but will add to the realism of the game altogether. add injured players (including the reserves in the lineup not on the active list) to the second row of the crowd or even the benches. they will have to be in suits (as per the NBA dress code). this'll be a nice touch when in dynasty, season or playoff mode.

ESSENTIALS:

in dynasty mode.. add a training camp scene,, not just the simulated one where you try to put in values for offense, defense, athleticism but real time gameplaying and practicing the players so that you'd know who is going to be a part of your team

also allow the team to invite more players for the training camp( much like team practice)

I just wish Kobe Bryant be the cover of 09 and also have that adventure mode where you make your own character then train hard then be a NBA player.

-Balance the defense and offense with better collision animations. Right now it's too easy to get inside and score, both from the perimiter and the post. Don't just "workaround" it by lowering the percentage of successful inside shots.

-Improve the blocking animations, there is no way to run and swat a layup, the defenders just out-stretch there arm. On that note, players rise and fall too quickly when jumping for blocks.

-Speed up the passing animations, or atleast the balls flight. It's too slow and allows for defenders to close out on open players. The same with the alleyoop passes, they they need to be much faster.

-Take off the hotspots button and change it to a modifier or brign back freestyle superstars so players who don't have goto moves or sigshots can still have some unique animations.

-Allow players to pickup their dribble while on the move. From here the player will need to shoot or pass or get called for the travel on their third step. The pro hop button could be modified so that it performed this action while moving and holding the turbo button.

-During OTP, allow a voting system for kicking players who abuse the gameplay, mostly ballhoggers and abusers of the select button and voice chat.

-Allow a menu setting for "All Talk" between all participants in OTP.

-Allow users to switch what player they are controlling during a game if they are locked on a player and there is a cpu controlled player available. For instance, if a teammate disconnects, you can take over control of that player.

-The control of the players is slow. Some players can burst or change direction alot faster then others. It feels like I have a lack of control over the player.

when it comes to allstar weekend,every seaon court will be used for all star random not only in new orleans or stick with one court..

for eg:
in 2007-08 season the allstar will be held in l.a lakers
in 08-09 season in cleveland so on....

I'm not new here and i also downloaded a lot of your patches guys, but i only register myself to this for the reason i want 2 participate in submitting my wish list for 09. . . .
i want to see behind the game actions like the funny reactions from the bench players, coaches and crowds. . . .i want to see them doing crazy things such as cheering and shouting for their players. . . . . .

just like the others want to see, the playstation skills and haier shootout must be there!a great one if that would be granted. . . . .yeah!

the real life reactions of players to the referees decisions (ie RASHEED WALLACE always shows his bad reactions that's why he always got technical fouls)
in short, if possible, NBA fights must be applied. . . . .

i think they should add the skills challenge to the all-star weekend
and they should make that you can change the participants in the three point and the slam dunk and skills challenge

Everything has been said but maybe a more interesting all-star weekend with maybe celebrity game, shooting stars, skills challenge, new dunks system for the dunk contest, allow of the backboard dunk again, and finally at the main all-star gane allow them to announe the entire team out of the tunnel instead of the middle of the floor thats all.

1. make the game more intense...for example..the playoffs should feel completely different than the regular season...with more pressure building moments and crazier fans.
2. when a team hits a shot at the buzzer, something should happen! make the players run out on the court and celebrate....make the fans go nuts.
3. enhance the gameplay in the paint and specifically under the basket. there should be a war going on under the basket for rebounds. I want to see someone get blocked 4 times in a row, or see someone get 3 or 4 offensive rebounds in a row, and then struggle to make a putback.
4. more post moves!! instead of just being able to do a turnaround hookshot, how about combinations of moves......a fake turnaround, a spin move and then an up and under......different buttons give you different post move combinations. the possibilities are endless.
5. have a database of speech id names that both the P.A. announcer AND the commentators will say, that way the created players will seem more realistic.
6. more diversity with the commentating.....when rival teams are playing each other, some things should be said about it. when a team is battling for a playoff spot or homecourt advantage, work that into the game. and for goodness sake, when a team comes from behind to win, or makes a dramatic play, make the commentators get excited!
7. scenario mode......be able to recreate huge plays from seasons past, such as game winning shots in the playoffs, etc. Maybe completing these scenarios would unlock different players, gear, etc.
8. make every team, every player from every season. I realize how crazy that sounds, but think of the possibilities...if I want to be able to recreate the 1987 season or the 1994 playoffs, I can do it! I realize this can kind of be done through patching, but I want to spend my time playing, not installing patches.
9. allow us to be able to take any team from any season and make a fantasy season or fantasy playoffs.
10. have every legend possible, and allow them to be placed on any team we like.
11. If I want to hang on the rim for 30 seconds, then let me! I don't care if I get a technical foul...that would be realistic!
12. I'm not asking for fighting (I know that's not allowed) but how about harder fouls, or flagrant fouls, especially during the playoffs. It's a part of the game, but it isn't "in the game".
13. If I'm playing a road game, make the crowd hostile. Make it loud and harder to play on the road. On the flip side, if I'm playing at home, give me a boost from my crowd.

I realize some of my wishes seem pretty lofty, but THAT'S WHY IT'S A VIDEO GAME!! You're supposed to be able to do anything you want in a video game! Please get it right this time, EA.

There's only 1 thing I want, which was the reason i hated NBA LIVE 08.

ALLOW PLAYERS TO ENTER THE FREE THROW LANE AFTER A FREE THROW ATTEMPT.

i don't know about xbox, but on ps3 it was difficult to make quick direct passes due to the alley oop button being mapped onto the same button as direct pass so maybe hotspots should be moved to L3 (pressing down on the left stick) and direct pass to the hotspot button.
