Finally Have NBA Live 2009 - Questions

Postby fjccommish on Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:50 pm

I tried it, like how the superstars play more like superstars than in 2K9. Some questions:

- How can I set a dynasty for short season length?
- When I try to adjust the level to superstar, it's impossible. I set home for superstar, then go to away, but when I change that to superstar home goes back to starter. Can these be set to superstar?
- There is no setting for game play length, only sim length (minutes.) How is this set?
- As a test as I always do I created a 7'6" center with 99's on all important stats, but in games he never jumps for rebounds, he just stands at the free throw line mostly. How can I create stats so a guy will jump?
- The Dunk vs Layup slider - is it moved up or down to get someone to dunk more often?
- I also will try 5v5 online at some point.

Unfortunately you can only play an 82 game season. You don't select gameplay quarter length when starting a new Dynasty though, that's done when you go to play the games (thus you can still have different settings for sim quarter length and gameplay quarter length). You should be able to set home and away difficulty levels independently as well, it seems you have to set the home difficulty level first though. If you cycle the home team setting the away team seems to match it automatically but after setting the home difficulty I'm able to change the away setting independently.

The higher the Dunk vs Layup slider, the more dunks you should see.

Not sure what's going on with your created centre not grabbing rebounds though, especially if he's got 99 for Defensive Rebounding Strength, IQ and Box Out.

I always thought that setting higher "dunks vs layup" slider means more layups than dunks. I thought that setting that slider above 50 means more layups than dunks and If I set it at 99 I won't be making dunks.

No, the higher the slider the more dunks you'll see.

Looks like weight has something to do with things too. As a test I created a 7'6" center with 99's for scoring, rebounding, strength - most everything. But in CPU v CPU games he would hardly get a rebound. So I watched some games to see that most of the time he would just stand there. When I lowered his weight from 340 to 311 pounds, suddenly he was jumping for rebounds.

Interesting. Perhaps not suitable in all situations but if you don't mind a custom player being lighter it's good that he'll actually go for rebounds.
