NBA Live 09 PS2 Still Has the Sub/Fatigue Bug

Postby fjccommish on Wed Oct 08, 2008 10:44 am

In many ways it is a big improvement. Computer controlled superstars take more shots, are more active. The Be a Pro Mode on PS2 inbounds the ball correctly, i.e. not only to the controlled player. It does have a problem in that you can only play a season or game, not a dynasty, and you're forced into one camera angle.

But I can't believe the sub/fatigue bug is still there. With Player Subs turned to 100, with auto subs on, in a 12 minute quarter game, there wasn't one single sub. NOT ONE! Every time out, every break, the fatigue goes back to full so they're never subbed.

I am furious. None of the community people mentioned this. None of them asked EA if the bug was fixed. In '08 it was a game breaking bug, and EA didn't fix it. Now I have a game that's unplayable because the bench is never used for my team.

From what I remember, the PS2 version wasn't even on display at the community event.

It wasn't on display, so it's ok to have the same major bug as the 08 version had? The game is unplayable. Nobody bothered to ask, whether or not it was on display?

"Hey, EA, is the fatigue/sub bug gone in all versions of the game?"

Can anyone with a contact with the producer ask why the fatigue/sub bug is still in the game?

The PS2 version was not on display at the Community Event, so there was no way I could have any hands-on impressions or insight into the PS2 version this year. Additionally, none of the producers involved with the event were involved with the PS2 verison and could not answer any questions about it. In the subsequent months, I have unfortunately not been able to get any information on that version.

I know this is upsetting, it's appalling that this bug still hasn't been fixed but it is not fair to pin the blame on me simply because I'm here. I would have raised the issue if I'd had hands-on time with the PS2 version, it was one of the "must fix" items in the Wishlist and if I had any knowledge of the problem existing in this year's game, I would have spoken up. But unfortunately, I'm just finding out about it now.

Unfortunately the guys I'm in contact with these days are all on the 360/PS3 production team but I can report the issue(s) and if I hear anything, I'll post it.

I didn't blame you for the bug. I simply wondered why nobody asked if the Sub bug was out of all versions of the game.

BTW, with fatigue turned to max everyone fatigues. But even if in foul trouble they do not sub.

Is it possible to ask someone for contact info for the PS2 producer? How about a refund from EA since the same basic bug is in the game this year as last year.

I'll certainly see who I can get hold of. You'd probably have to appeal to EA directly about a refund, unless the place you got it has any kind of seven day moneyback or swap policies (I'm pretty sure EB Games does, for one).

Best Buy has an exchange for identical game policy. But the game is flawed, unplayable, with a major bug that wasn't fixed from the previous version.

Hmm, that doesn't help. EB's policy is definitely more lenient in that regard, though I'm not sure if that's a worldwide policy.

They'll accept a return when I explain my policy not to purchase buggy games, and to go after companies that sell them as working products.

fjccommish, ask to talk to a manager and make a scene about how bad and buggy the game is, and how it had the same problems as previous versions. Basically throw a fit, but remain assertive and as respectful as possible and plead for an exchange or a refund. Tell them that you bought a playstation 2 just to play the game, embellish as much as you can.

I agree, if you take a firm stance without going overboard they might be persuaded to at least offer you store credit with which you can buy NBA 2K9 or another game of your choice. Customer service and satisfaction is key, so if they think they can keep your business by being flexible and helping you out in some way, they'll probably be inclined to do so.
