having problems with the resolutions

i recently have formatted my laptop i lost my resolution for my NBA 2k9
now cannot get back the resolution for my laptop.
my laptop has a display of 1280 x 800. i remember having more reso on NBA 2k9 but now i dont have it.
the last reso i used had the letter box display where it was widescreen but have black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen. any idea what reso is that and how to get it back?

did you installed latest graphics card drivers
